Abstract

Opening new branches may help the banks to expand and is a priority for the banks to enlarge the public inclusion. Indonesian banking industry is currently not efficient and still focus more on networking the branches than improving the banking access to the public. This paper utilize the path analysis to see the link betweeen the branch expansion and the performance of the banks. The analysis shows that the increase of the number of branches and employees does not significantly influence the financial performance of the banking industry from the period of 2011-2012. This prove that the inefficiency of banking industry as one of the performance indicators of banking is not the main factor that be caused by increasing the number of branches and employees.

Abstract

The determination of concentration of gingerol compound is usually carried out through a long and expensive process using HPLC instrument. The alternative method to predict such concentration can be done using a multivariate calibration model. Since the numbers of samples (n) are less than the number of variables (p) and between the independent variables are correlated, the development of model using conventional regression is no longer valid. The combination of Discrete Wavelet Transformation (DWT) and Partial Least Square has been adopted in this research to predict concentration of gingerol and it showed a promising result.

Abstract

Multicollinearity and outliers existence in data can be detected by various techniques. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is one of the statistical techniques that can be used to handle data reduction and multicollinearity problem. However, PCA is very sensitive to outliers as it based on the mean and the covariance matrix. Hubert et al. (2005) developed ROBPCA, a robust PCA to the outliers existence. The ROBPCA combines PP technique and Minimum Covariant Determinant (MCD) method for solving outliers problem. In the present study, ROBPCA is applied to the study case of the regression analysis of infant mortality rate in East Java Province in 2009. The result shows that ROBPCA is more robust compare to PCA when data contains outlier. ROBPCA can explain 85.6 percent of variation by 2 principal components, whereas, PCA needs 3 principal components to explain 86.6 percent of variation. Moreover, ROBPCA produces higher coefficient determination which means the regression model using ROBPCA is better in explaining response variable. The study findings also revealed that the average of duration of exclusive breastfeeding has the largest contribution in lowering infant mortality rate followed by percentage of delivery assisted by medical provider and percentage of households that have access to safe drinking water.

Abstract

In many applications two or more dependent variables are observed at several values of the independent variables, such as at time points. The statistical problems are to estimate functions that model their dependences on the independent variables, and to investigate relationships between these functions. Nonparametric regression model, especially smoothing splines provides powerful tools to model the functions which draw association of these variables. Penalized weighted least-squares is used to jointly estimate nonparametric functions from contemporaneously correlated data. In this paper we formulate the multi-response nonparametric regression model and give a theoretical method for both obtaining distribution of the response and estimating the nonparametric function in the model. We also estimate the smoothing parameters, the weighting parameters and the correlation parameter simultaneously by applying three methods: generalized maximum likelihood (GML), generalized cross validation (GCV) and leaving-out-one-pair cross validation (CV).

Abstract

Penentuan kandungan senyawa gingerol pada tanaman jahe dilakukan melalui proses yang memerlukan waktu dan biayayang relatif mahal. Alternatif cara lain adalah dengan mengembangkan model kalibrasi peubah ganda . Data spektraabsorban akan berupa sederetan data vektor x = (x1 ,x2 , ... ,xp )T yang berdimensi tinggi dan saling berkorelasi, sehinggapengembangan model kalibrasi peubah ganda E(Y) = X dengan mengikutkan semua data X menjadi tidak efisien. Denganreduksi dimensi yang baik, diharapkan pengembangan model kalibrasi peubah ganda menjadi lebih efisien. Reduksidimensi yang digunakan dalam makalah ini adalah metode transformasi wavelet diskret (DWT). Hasil penelitianmenunjukkan dari 1024 titik data spektra absorban yang diamati pada bilangan gelombang 113 cm-1 sampai dengan 311cm-1, untuk 14 contoh jahe, ternyata hanya dengan 11 koefisien wavelet menghasilkan representasi spektra yang sudahbaik. Pemodelan kalibrasi peubah ganda dengan menggabungkan hasil DWT dan PLS (Partial Least Square) diperolahhasil yang memuaskan yaitu R2 = 99,6 % dan s = 0,0088.

Abstract

Dalam bidang industri, statistika biasa digunakan dalam hal pengambilan keputusan dalam suatu masalah, salah satu metode yang digunakan dalam statistika untuk pengambilan keputusan adalah metode optimasi. Salah satu metode optimasi yang sering dipakai adalah metode Taguchi, metode ini diperkenalkan oleh Dr. Genichi Taguchi pada tahun 1940. Metode Taguchi merupakan metode yang efisien digunakan dalam off line kontrol kualitas dimana desain percobaan dikombinasikan dengan penurunan kualitas. Metode ini mencakup tiga tahap desain yaitu  desain sistem, desain parameter, dan desain toleransi. Dalam dunia nyata jelas bahwa lebih dari satu karakteristik kualitas harus dipertimbangkan untuk produk industri yang paling baik, yaitu dalam sebagian besar aplikasi perhatian pelanggan adalah dengan masalah multirespon. Namun demikian, metode Taguchi tidak tepat untuk mengoptimalkan masalah multirespon karena teknik penilaian adalah prosedur optimasi utama dalam metode Taguchi. Untuk mengatasi masalah ini, peneliti mengusulkan suatu prosedur yang efektif disebut PCR-TOPSIS yang didasarkan pada kemampuan proses ratio (PCR) Technique for Order Performance by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) untuk mengoptimalkan masalah multirespon. Sehingga dengan metode PCR-TOPSIS, kita dapat memperoleh solusi yang terbaik dan dapat menghasilkan solusi yang memuaskan untuk masalah multirespon dalam proses pembuatan kertas pada PT. Adiprima Suraprinta yang merupakan salah satu perusahan manufaktur yang bergerak di bidang industri kertas khususnya daur ulangan kertas.

Abstract

In the real cases, we are frequently faced the problem in which two or more dependent variables are observed at several values of the independent variables, such as at multiple time points. Multi-response nonparametric regression model, especially smoothing spline model, provides powerful tools to model the function which represents association of among the variables. The problem is how to estimate nonparametric regression curve of the multi-response nonparametric regression model. The nonparametric regression curve can be estimated using spline estimator approach, that is by carrying out penalized weighted least-squares optimation. Therefore, we need a covariance matrix which will be used as a weight of the optimation. In this paper, we determine the construction of covariance matrix for both equal and unequal of correlations cases. The results show that the covariance matrices have quite similar construction of diagonal elements but the elements outside the diagonal have very different construction that depend on the construction of the Jordan matrix.

Abstract

One of the major problem facing the data modelling at social area is multicollinearity. Multicollinearity can have significant impact on the quality and stability of the fitted regression model. Common classical regression technique by using Least Squares estimate is highly sensitive to multicollinearity problem. In such a problem area, Partial Least Squares Regression (PLSR) is a useful and flexible tool for statistical model building; however, PLSR can only yields point estimations. This paper will construct the interval estimations for PLSR regression parameters by implementing Jackknife technique to poverty data. A SAS macro programme is developed to obtain the Jackknife interval estimator for PLSR.

Abstract

Environment waste arround ITS college such as waste of Trembesi leaves, Sono leaves, and Satintail at this research will be used as part of materials of Bokashi fertilizer producing. The first aim of this research produced Bokashi fertilizer in various proportion waste of Trembesi leaves, Sono leaves, and Satintail with other materials proportion which has been assumed to be constant based on development of optimum mixture design of multiresponse surface theory by D-optimum criterion. The second aim of this research was compared 5:3:1:1 composition from reference to 5:2:1:2 composition from researcher hypothesis with proportion of waste of Trembesi leaves, Sono leaves, and Satintail as independent variables to N, P, and K percentation as response variables. Optimum mixture designs of multiresponse surface model will be optimum if it weighted w = 1 / qs means the each point of experiment will be given s-replications as much as proportion number of experiment point to number of component. The 5:2:1:2 and 5:3:1:1 compositions of Bokashi fertilizer producing are not statistically difference, therefore both compositions can be used to produce Bokashi fertilizer.
