Abstract

Water plays a very important role for humans and the surrounding environment. The amount of water in a particular area can be analyzed through the geology and geohydrology of the area. The lack of water resources in Jada Bahrain Village requires a conservation effort. The conservation efforts made are by making biopores. Making biopores aims to store water reserves so as to overcome drought. The amount of stored water volume can be predicted through the biopore infiltration rate. From the infiltration data obtained, 50 biopore holes in Jada Bahrain Village are estimated to be able to infiltrate water as much as 6286.23 mL/second.

Abstract

As the characteristic of time is to keep moving forward or unrepeatable, we never know that the alteration of the language is the same as the mechanism of time. In this circumstance, this paper purposed to take place as a clarification of the polemics that keep happening time by time. A debate questioned different perspectives against the contextuality of the hashtag #socialdistancing through the Instagram post against the COVID-19 prevention. The hashtag #socialdistancing is out of context toward the COVID-19 prevention, in which it is a cherry-picked use of the word. This is also supported by how the social influence blindly supports the mistake rooted through public posts such as Instagram’s post. This paper is purposely created to clarify the social phenomena against the language alteration undergone in the wrong way through the use of the hashtag #socialdistancing as the prevention. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method to analyse the data since the data is uncountable and cannot be handled by the quantitative method. The misguided use of the hashtag itself has changed the language understanding amongst the public, especially the Instagram user, which will create another loop of language error in the future. Furthermore, this will result in the social stratification of the language use that will be created without noticing the point of creating it, also the transformation of the word social and distance beyond the track-record that has been undergone previously.

Abstract

The factors that led to the extinction of a regional language dialect are the absence of inputting the vocabulary into a dictionary, recording the phonological system to academic articles, and the absence of language enthusiasts or linguists who want to maintain the existence of a dialect in a community. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the phonological system in the Toboali dialect as the variant of the Malay language in the South Bangka Regency. The research is triggered by the decreasing use of regional languages in society and it purports to identify and describe the phonological system of the Toboali dialect. To do that, this study uses a qualitative method in which the researchers firstly collected data, then analyzed and classified the data, and finally drew a conclusion. The Swadesh list which consists of 250 vocabularies was utilized during the interview. The researchers obtained the Toboali dialect words by gesturing or pointing to objects and images so the informants were able to pronounce the words and then the phonetic transcription could be written. Thus, the data obtained are accurate because the language obtained was not delivered in Indonesian but is purely pronounced in the Toboali dialect. The results of this study indicate that there are 7 vowels: [?], [e], [o], [i], [?], [?], [a] and 19 consonants are found in the Toboali dialect: [b], [c], [d], [f], [g], [h], [j], [k], [l], [m], [n], [p], [r], [s], [t], [w], [y], [z], and [?].

The research were to analyze the addressing terms used in Indonesian society relating to the World-Englishes movement and to analyze the process of the World-Englishes movement through the use of the addressing terms. Therefore, the research aimed to describe the movement process, especially in Indonesian society, by looking at how the students addressed the lecturers. The descriptive qualitative approach was applied by having an interview with eight universities in Indonesia and the chatting activities between the students and the lecturers. The postcolonial theory was used to show the ownership of English. The research concludes that some diction is only understood by Indonesian people speaking English. Therefore, those terms of addressing exclusively belong to the Indonesian language. However, it can be an encouraging signal that English belongs to not only the inner circle but also the expanding circle.
