Abstract

Background: Status of minerals such as zinc, magnesium, and chromium among diabetic patients are considered lower than non-diabetic peoples, both in the serum and intake. Some reviews show that those minerals contribute to carbohydrate metabolism among diabetic patients.Objective: This study aims to explore intake of zinc, magnesium, and chromium among DMT2 in Denpasar.Method: This is a cross-sectional analytic study. The population was all (70) DMT2 patients registered at Chronic Disease Service (Prolanis) at two Primary Health Care (PHC) Denpasar Utara III PHC and Denpasar Timur I PHC. The sample for the study was DMT2 patients and non-diabetic people age 50-70 years reside in Denpasar city. DMT2 patients were randomly selected with simple random technique, while non-diabetic peoples were non-randomly selected. The level of serum chromium was measured by AAS method, whereas microminerals intake were collected by a recall and SQ-FFQ method. Data was analyzed descriptively and differences were tested with two independent t-test at 95% confidence level.Results: The mean of serum chromium DMT2 and non-diabetic were 0.044 mg/L and 0.094 mg/L respectively. The mean±SEM magnesium (DMT2 316.1±22.4 mg/day; non-diabetic 211.0±33.5 mg/day), zinc intake was (DMT2 8.4±0.7 mg/day; non-diabetic 6.2±0.8 mg/day), and chromium (DMT2 10.8±1.3 µg/day; non-diabetic 8.7±0.9µg/day). A significant difference was found between magnesium intake (p=0.01).Conclusion: The study showed that zinc, magnesium and chromium intake is appeared higher among DMT2 patients compare to non-diabetic in Denpasar region.

Abstract

Abstrak: Makanan yang mengalami proses fermentasi diyakini dapat memberikan manfaat bagi kesehatan manusia. Proses kedelai yang difermentasi menyebabkan kedelai mudah untuk dicerna dan mampu menghilangkan bau dan rasa langu serta berpotensi mengandung komponen zat gizi yang belum banyak dieksplorasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis komposisi profil asam amino ekstrak seredele dan ekstrak tempe. Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimental dengan sampel sebanyak 2 jenis bahan makanan terfermentasi yaitu seredele dan tempe kedelai. Sampel tersebut dibuat dalam bentuk ekstrak dan selanjutnya dianalisis komposisi asam amino dengan metode HPLC. Asam amino yang diujikan adalah sejumlah 15 asam amino           . Hasil peneltiian menun-jukkan bahwa kedua kstrak bahan makanan yaitu ekstrak seredele dan tempe kedelai mempunya komposisi asam amino yang bervariasi dan cukup lengkap dengan 15 asam amino esensial. Seredele yang merupakan makanan khas tradisional Bali memiliki kandungan asam glutamate (glutamic acid) yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan ekstrak tempe, yaitu masing-masing 0.6% dan 0.4%. Kandungan asam amino Aspartic acid dan Tyrosine pada seredele juga ditemukan lebih tinggi daripada tempe kedelai. Adanya kandungan asam amino jenis asam glutamate (Glutamic Acid) yang lebih tinggi dari tempe menunjukkan potensi atau kemampuan untuk mengikat zat besi. Untuk itu disarankan adanya suatu penelitian lanjutan mengenai kemampuan atau potensi mengikat zat besi dari seredele dan tempe kedelai secara in vitro

Abstract

Food intake and body fat parameter among women older than 40 years old in DenpasarBackground: The prevalence of obesity in Indonesia tends to increase, particularly among women older than 40 years old.Objective: This study aimed to identify the associations between nutrient consumption and parameters of body fat among women in Denpasar.Methods: This was an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional approach. The population was women aged older than 40 years old in Denpasar with sampled population were members Dharma Wanita PDAM Kota Denpasar. Eighty out of 200 women were selected through systematic random sampling method. Variables collected in this study included women’s characteristics, nutrient consumption, and body fat parameters: body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), and waist to hip ratio (WHR). Analysis of the relationship between nutrient consumption and body fat parameters using the Spearman Rank correlation.Results: This study found that the majority aged 41-50 years (83.8%), were Balinese  (95.0%), have married  (98.8%), did not use contraception (65.0%), completed higher education (63.8%), worked in informal sector (60.0%), had low income (65.0%), had no history of obesity (80.0%) and no family with degenerative diseases (73.8%). Based on the body fat parameters, most of the women were obese based on BMI (52.5%), WC (70.0%), and WHR (57.5%) categories. There was a significant association between fiber consumption and waist circumference (p=0.021).Conclusions: There was an association between fiber consumption and waist circumference, thus having a balanced and varied diet is recommended to prevent obesity and reduce risk factors for degenerative diseases.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Online ojek driver is in a risk of having less healthy and overweight body for their busy working activities as well as high riding mobility causing limited until no chance to do exercise. Physical fitness is affected by some factors which are age, sex, smoking habit, health status and physical activity. Besides, the physical fitness is also provoked by nutritional status. If someone has poor health status, it will decrease the physical fitness level and give impact to the ojek driver productivity also make the work feel exhausting. This research is aimed at understanding the relationship between nutritional status and the physical fitness of online ojek driver in Denpasar. This research is analytic cross-sectional study. The sample amounts 60 male. The sample was chosen by using accidental sampling in 4 sub-districs in Denpasar. The result showed that 61.7% of online ojek driver are overweight based on body mass index (BMI) and abdominal circumference >90 centimeters is 41.7%. Online ojek drivers in Denpasar 55.0% are not fit. The statistic result showed that BMI (p=0.000) and abdominal circumference (p=0.000). Conclusion on this research is nutritional status are related to the physical fitness level of the online ojek driver. Keywords: Nutritional Status, Physical Fitness, Online Ojek Driver

Abstract

Health status and micronutrient intake among vegetarian and non-vegetarian in BaliBackground: Several studies have reported that vegetarian diets have health benefits for those adopting the diets.Objective: This study aimed to compare anemia status and micronutrient intake between vegetarians and non-vegetarians in Bali.Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in Bali. A total of 240 samples consisting of 160 vegetarians and 80 non-vegetarians were randomly selected. Hemoglobin (Hb) and fasting blood sugar levels were measured using the cyanmethemoglobin method and enzymatic colorimetric, respectively. Meanwhile, the data on micronutrient intakes were collected by interviews using the semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire (SQFFQ). The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and the Mann-Whitney test was performed to analyze the differences.Results: The study’s results showed that the mean Hb levels in the vegetarian group were significantly lower than non-vegetarians (p=0.002; p<0.05), and the anemia status in vegetarian women were higher (22.5%) than non-vegetarian women (2.5%). The mean fasting blood glucose level in non-vegetarians was significantly higher than in the vegetarian group (p=0.000; p<0.05). There were no differences in zinc (Zn) intake between vegetarians and non-vegetarians, but there were significant differences (p<0.05) in vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin B12, folic acid, magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), and iron (Fe) intakes.Conclusions: There were differences in anemia status and fasting blood glucose levels between vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The fasting blood glucose levels of non-vegetarians were higher than vegetarians, and there were differences in the intake of certain micronutrients between vegetarians and non-vegetarians.

Abstract

Vegetarian diet is one of the lifestyle changes. The aims of this study was to analyse the differences of nutritionalstatus, health status, and lifesytle and to analyse correlation between nutritonal status, health status, withlifestyle in lakto vegetarian groups and non lakto vegetarian groups. The design of this study was cross-sectionalstudy include 80 women aged 40-65 years old and was conducted in Bali Province. Data were analyzed using ManWhitney U Test and difference test and Rank Spearman relationship test. This research was funded by Neys-vanHoogstraten Foundation, the Netherlands. The measurement of characteristic of subjek and lifestyle used questioner.The measuerment of body weight used digital scales. Body height was measurement used staturemater,blood pressure was measurement used sphygmomanometer and Hb levels used cyanmethemoglobin. Nonvegetariangroup had higher proportion of obesity and hypertension (50%; 37,5%) than lacto vegetarian groups. Lactovegetarian groups had higher anemia status than non vegetarian groups. The result show there were significantdifferences between nutritional status and consumption coffee into two groups (p<0,05). There were show nocorrelation between nutritonal status, health status, with lifestyle (p>0.05). This study indicates lacto vegetariangroup had better nutritional status, health status, and lifestyle than non-vegetarian group. Lacto-vegetarian grouphad higher risk of anemia.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Perajin batu bata merah merupakan pekerja sektor informal yaitu pekerja harian lepas dan borongan yang berisiko terkena gangguan kapasitas fungsi paru-paru akibat dari paparan debu saat bekerja. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan karakteristik individu dan paparan debu dengan gangguan kapasitas fungsi paru-paru pada perajin batu bata merah di Kabupaten Badung. Desain penelitian ini yaitu analitik kuantitatif dengan metode cross-sectional study. Penentuan sampel dengan metode consecutive sampling yaitu perajin batu bata merah di Kabupaten Badung berjumlah 42 orang. Data umur, durasi kerja, masa kerja, kebiasaan merokok, dan penggunaan alat pelindung diri dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner, tinggi badan diukur dengan microtoise, berat badan dengan timbangan berat badan, paparan debu dengan Personal Dust Sampler (PDS), dan gangguan kapasitas fungsi paru-paru dengan spirometer. Data dianalisis secara univariabel, bivariabel dengan uji Chi-square, dan multivariabel dengan multiple logistic regression. Hasil penelitian menujukkan 92,86% perajin mengalami gangguan kapasitas fungsi paru-paru. Analisis multivariabel menunjukkan bahwa paparan debu merupakan variabel yang paling berpengaruh terhadap gangguan kapasitas fungsi paru-paru namun signifikansi rendah (AOR=18,18; CI=1,02-324,8; p=0,004). Sebagai upaya pencegahan gangguan kapasitas fungsi paru-paru, perajin diharapkan lebih peduli terhadap risiko yang dihadapi di tempat kerja dan melakukan upaya pencegahan. Abstract

Iron de? ciency, anemia, cause a negative impact on health such as lowering levels of endurance,lowering concentration power of learning and child development disorders. This research aimsto identify iron de? ciency, anemia, status and nutrient intake in school age children at ? veorphanages in Denpasar.The design of this research was cross-sectional study conducted at ? ve orphanages in Denpasar.The 48 school age children were assigned using a systematic random sampling. Data of hemoglobin level were coollected using Cyanmethaemoglobin; nutrient intake and iron inhibitors using a SQFFQand questionnaire. Data wereanalyzed descriptivelyand presented in tablesand narrative.Fromexamination of 48 samples, results of anemia proportion in school age children at ?veorphanagesamounted to 29.16%. Most sampeles (> 80%) already got su? cientrecommendedRDA,except for vitamin Athatstill far below recommended RDA. From 48 of 28 samples (58,33%)havea habitof consuming milk and as many as 38 samples (79,16) consume tea.Theconclusion of this study is that school age children are vulnerable to iron de?ciency,anemia, andhavethe habitof consuming iron inhibitors.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Universal Salt Iozation merupakan strategi untuk mengurangi defisiensi iodium dengan menambahkan iodium kedalam garam. Dalam evaluasi kinerja gizi tahun 2020 Bali termasuk dalam Provinsi yang masih rendah pada konsumsi garam beriodium yaitu sebesar 80,6% dari target 82%. Cakupan penggunaan garam beriodium akan dipengaruhi oleh tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai garam beriodium. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengetahuan Ibu Rumah Tangga mengenai garam beriodium di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Tampaksiring I. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Populasi penelitian yaitu ibu rumah tangga yang berada di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Tampaksiring I dengan sampel sebanyak 111. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan accidental sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara dan observasi. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan kuesioner dan checklist. Dilaksanakan pada April - Juni 2021 dan dianalisis menggunakan Analisis Univariat. Hasil penelitian ini memperoleh mayoritas tamat SMP (25,2%) dan 75,7% sebagai Ibu Rumah Tangga (IRT). Sebesar 55,9% responden sudah menggunakan garam beriodium dan 59,5% responden memiliki pengetahuan baik mengenai garam beriodium.Kata Kunci: Pengetahuan, Garam Beriodium, Ibu Rumah Tangga
