Abstract

ABSTRACT Fly is one of insect included into ordo Diptera which has a pair of wing organized as membrane. Fly has cosmopolitan feature where the fly life is gotten smooth almost in the surface of earth. Dealing with it has been conducted research about the diversity of fly (Cyclorrapha: Dipetra) at the area of dry fish disposal in the Padang City. This research was conducted from June to August 2013 conducted at the area of dry fish disposal in the Raya Market Padang, Lubuk Buaya Market Padang and Bandar Buat Market Padang. The research was survey research and description analysis by identification at Animal taxonomi Laboratory of Andalas University Padang . Fly collection was conducted by using 2 methods such as sweap method, and baiting method. The identification result of fly diversity on the third research area was gotten 5 kinds of fly from 3 families and a sub ordo such as Musca domestica, Crysomya megacephala, Calliphora sp., Lucilia sp, and Sarchophaga sp., Musca domestica constituting number of fly which was most dominant got from the third area of sample taking.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the effect of composting of coffee peel and NPK fertilizer on the growth and production of sweet corn and to know the best dose of the treatment. This research conducted in experimental garden of Faculty of Agriculture Riau University for four months starting from June to September 2017. This research was conducted using a randomized block design (RBD) consisting of two factors. The first factor of fruit coffee compost was the second factor of NPK fertilizer. The data obtained in the field were analyzed statistically. The results of the real variance analyzed using a real 5% True Difference Test (TDT). The observed parameters were plant height, diameter of stem, time of male flower, time of female flower, weight of cob weighted per plant, weight of cob weighted per plot, cob weight without corn husk per plant, cob diameter without weight and number of rows of seeds. The results showed that the increased dose of coffee fruit compost did not affect the growth and production of sweet corn while the increase of NPK fertilizer dosage generally increased the growth and production of sweet corn plant. The interaction of fruit coffee compost and NPK fertilizer has no effect in improving the growth and production of sweet corn plants. Keywords: Sweet corn, coffee fruit compost and NPK

Abstract

South Bandung is one of the areas included in the Bandung Basin which is a mountainous region. Active and non-active volcanoes line up in this area, including Mt. Patuha, Mt. Puppet, and Mt. Windu Because of this South Bandung has abundant natural resource potential, including water resources, geothermal resources, and mining. Water sources lined up along the northern slopes of the mountains. Cisanti at the foot of Mount Wayang is the headwaters of the Citarum River which is the longest river in West Java.

Abstract

Sapodilla (Manilkara zapota (L.) van Royen) is a plant that grows in a tropical climate, fruit all year round and the distribution is in the widespread in Indonesia. The contents of secondary metabolites in the leaves and the bark sapodilla are flavonoids, phenols and saponins are known to inhibit the growth of bacteria. The purpose of this research is to know the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract leaves and bark Sapodilla against Staphylococcus aureus and Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. The study was performed by disc diffusion method with the varyation concentrations of ethanol extract from the leaves and bark with a concentration of 50%, 25%, 12.5%, 6.25% and 3.125% respectively and the positive control is clindamycin and the negative control is DMSO . The diameter of the inhibition zone formed on the ethanol extract test of the leaves sapodilla against Staphylococcus aureus and Propionibacterium acnes at a concentration of 50% was 14.18 ± 0.13 mm and 15.33 ± 0.25 mm, respectively. While the diameter of the inhibition zone formed on the ethanol extract test of the bark against Staphylococcus aureus and Propionibacterium acnes at a concentration of 50% was 14.22±0.15 mm and 18.30±0.23 mm, respectively. The results of the data statistical analysis using oneway ANOVA, it shown a significant difference (p < 0.05) between the variation of the concentration of the extract. The test results shown that the antibacterial activity ethanol extract of the leaves and bark of Sapodilla had activity for inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Propionibacterium acnes bacteria.
