Abstract

This research was conducted at December 2013 in the Lambur Luar, East Muara Sabak, East Tanjung Jabung, Jambi Province. The purpose of this study was to determine the efficiency of Trawl cod end. While the benefits are expected to provide useful information for writers, for readers, and for the people Lambur Luar, as well as an input to the fisher of Lambur Luar to modify fishing gear and Trawl cod end size so as to correspond to the number of catches expected. Efficiency of Trawl cod end is a principle which enables the achievement of the best comparison between total catches and volume of Trawl cod end. Efficiency values of Trawl cod end obtained from the division between total catches per operation with Trawl cod end volume and multiplied by 100 %. The trawl cod end of Lambur Luar is very inefficient, it can see from the result the values of trawl cod end efficency between 0,1-0,31. The average of trawl cod end efficiency is 0,15.Keywords : Efficiency, Trawl cod end, Total catches.

Abstract

A series histological observation on the fiber structure of mengkuang pandanus (Pandanus artocapus) leaves and breaking strength test were conducted for identifying potential of mengkuang pandanus leaves as natural fiber for making a rope as fishing gear material. The result show that the mengkuang pandanus leaves had epidermis and parenchyma highly density, as a result the structure fiber of pandan mengkuang leaves reach 4 kgf. The elongation of mengkuang pandanus leaves fiber was 20.1 mm and water absorption ability and sinking speed were 1 % and  0,59 cm/second respectively. Structure, breaking strength, water absorption ability and sinking speed of the mengkuang pandanus leaves are discussed on this paper detail. Abstract

This research was aimed to study about the potential of bundung grass as natural fibre for fishing gear materials. This research used the experimental method with used to test the breaking strength and elongation of the objects.Based on the histology, tissue of compiler at stems of bundung grass is a protective tissue (epidermis), the basic tissue (parenchyma), amplifier tissue (collenchyma and sclerenchyma) and carrier tissue (xylem and phloem). At the grass which has a length of 14 to 157 cm and a width ranging from 0.8 to 1.2 cm, where as for fine fibers produce reach 147 pieces with a diameter of 0,01 cm. Length of average of fine fibers produced at the grass was 58.39% length of grass. Bundung of fibres has the ability breaking load of 58,4 g, yarn 109 g and strand 853 g. Rope of fibres bundung grass has an average value of breaking strength and elongation of 1.8 kgf and 12.8 mm, while the rope from bundung grass stem with has an average value of breaking strength and elongation of 3.9 kgf and 20.1 mm. Bundung grass has potential used fishing gear material, but potential under of average other natural fibre after test.Keywords: Bundung grass, fishing gear material, histology, the breaking strength and elongation.

Abstract

For purpose to collect information  on construction of the fishing gear which was operated  by fishermen at Pasar Lama Village, Labuhanhaji district, South Aceh regency, Aceh province. A series survey activity was conducted for observation of fishing gear characteristic data. The data was compared by literature study. The result show that the fishermen was operated four types of fishing gear such as, gillnet, purse seine, hand line and lift net. They have small and large types, according to the main target species. The small type gillnet is called as” salam” and large type is called “tanjap”. The both of gill net have different mesh  size and mesh knot, namely single and double English knot. The construction of purse seine consists of webbing, upper line, buoy line, sell ledge, lower line, sinker line, purse line, buoy, sinker, and ring. The construction of lift net consists of fishing, webbing, frame, upper line, towing rope nets and sinker line. The construction of hand line consists of roller, main line, branch line, bait, sinker and hook. Key words :  Fishing gear, gillnet, hand line, lift net, purse seine

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study was conducted in May 2014 held at the village of Batu Belubang Senayang District of Lingga District Riau Islands Province. The purpose of this study is to find the right form valves or better to be used by fishermen. This study uses three treatments, namely: valves the shape pointing up, valves whose shape pointing downward, and valves that looks straight ahead. The method used in this study is the experimental method, the entire unit of experiments carried out in the field. From this results, the catch valves leads down better than the catch valves pointing up and straight forward, both in the amount of weight (kg) and in the number of individuals (tail). Basic trap catches with all three forms of the valves dominated by domersal and carnivorous fish.Key words :

Abstract

This research was conducted in February 2017 in the Village Nipah Panjang 2, Subdistrict Nipah Panjang, Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency, Province of Jambi. The method used is to observe directly the fishing gear used by fishermen. This study aims to produce an Efficient gillnet fishing gear design through an assessment of the construction of gillnet used by fishermen. The principle of design theory uses the reference formula Sadhori (1984) and Fridman (1986). The results show that the construction of gillnet consists as webbing, upper main line, under main line, float line, sinker line, float, sinker I, sinker II and buoy. Based on the calculation of design formula was obtained distinguish of mesh size, spin of line, number of float and sinker, floats and sinker mounting distance. The spin direction used in the sample as Z-Z, while for the new design it is better to use the opposite spin direction such as Z-S or S-Z. The number of sample float is 701 pieces with a distance of 1 m (mesh size 3 inch) and 401 pieces with a distance of 1 m (mesh size 7 inch). While the recommended number of float is 1567 pieces with a distance of 45 cm (mesh size 3 inch) and 540 pieces with a distance of 75 cm (mesh size 7 inch). The number of sample sinker is 1556 pieces with a distance of 45 cm (mesh size 3 inch) and 160 pieces with a distance of 2,5 m (mesh size 7 inch). While the recommended amount of sinker is 1923 pieces with a distance of 36 cm (mesh size 3 inch) and 664 pieces with a distance of 60 cm (mesh size 7 inch). The number of buoy sample is 42 pieces (mesh size 3 inch) and 24 pieces (mesh size 7 inch). Abstract

This study was conducted on 09-23 May 2016 is located in Sibolga Fishing Port. The purpose of this study to know on type and purse seine construction for sized vessels 30 GT. The method used was survey and observation. Observed object is purse seine used on vessels 30 GT. Data collection was performed by means of measurements on sample. It known that purse seine for sized vessels 30 GT in Sibolga Fishing Port include into purse seine American type, it known from the construction that shaped four rectangular. Abstract

This research was conducted in January 2016 at the Fish Landing Base (PPI) Dumai. This research purpose to know the feasibility and arrange the development direction sondong effort will be undertaken by fishermen Dumai. The method used is a survey method. The result of this study show sondong effort deserves to be developed, in the review of the feasibility of its development with a score of 3.25. Whereas the financial efforts of feasible developed by investment of Rp 99.818.000. Value of Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR) of 1,73, the Financial Rate of Return (FRR) 61,49% higher than the bank rate at 7,25%, and a payback period of capital (PPC) 1,63 years. Abstract

This research was conducted on May 2016 at Maninjau village, Tanjung Raya sub district, Agam district, Sumatera Barat province. The purpose of this study to determine the effect of the manufacture of fishing gear traps made of bamboo, wood, and plastic nets for catching lobster in Lake Maninjau. The method used in this research is the method by conducting experiments obsrevasi spaciousness fishing. The results showed that the catch per trap did not differ much. Bamboo fish trap catches of 38 heads, 35 tails wood, plastic netting 34 and 34 tails. Calculation of ANOVA concluded, that difference does not affect the material trap catches of lobster, evidenced by the average value of Fhit <Ftab at 5% level that is Fhit 0.42 <Ftab 2.96.Keywords : Red Claw, bamboo trap, wood trap, jarring trap, plastic trap, Lake Maninjau Waters

Abstract

An experiment to test of absorption and sinking speed of strand from bark of Terap (Artocarpus elasticus) was conducted to find the material of fishing gear’s construction. Bark of laticiferous were dried under sun light and spun to be a strand. The strand was tested their water absorption capacity and sinking speed in sea water into tube. The result show that the absorption capacity of the strand was reached 255.56% and sinking speed was 4.3 cm/sec. The relationship between absorption capacity, sinking speed and feasibility of strand from bark of laticiferous is detail discussed in this paper.Keyword: Absorption, fishing gear, terap (Artocarpus elasticus), sinking speed, strand
