Abstract

Foodborne disease adalah penyakit yang terjadi akibat mengkonsumsi makanan dan minuman yang terkontaminasi oleh agen mikroorganisme atau zat toksin. Kejadian foodborne disease, seperti sakit perut dengan gejala klinis diare dan thypoid pada siswa di sekolah masih cukup tinggi hingga saat ini. Hal ini disebabkan kurangnya pengetahuan tentang foodborne disease serta kurangnya penerapan perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat. Penelitian gambaran pengetahuan tentang foodborne disease ini bersifat deskriptif, dengan design penelitian menggunakan cross sectional study dengan populasi adalah siswa SMAN 8 Malang. Sampel dipilih secara purposive sampling yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi, sehingga diperoleh sampel 35 siswa kelas X-a SMAN 8 Malang. Hasil penelitian diperoleh informasi sebesar 34.29% pernah  mengalami sakit akibat jajanan di sekolah. Hasil analisa menunjukkan hanya 28.57% siswa mengetahui tentang foodborne disease, 22.86% mengetahui ciri-ciri jajanan terkontaminasi bakteri, dan 14.29% mengetahui penyakit foodborne disease akibat bakteri. Persentase siswa belum terbiasa menerapkan perilaku cuci tangan sebelum makan sebesar 80%. Gambaran pengetahuan dan perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat di sekolah siswa SMAN 8 Malang tentang foodborne disease masih sangat kurang.

Abstract

Scabies merupakan penyakit kulit pada ternak maupun hewan kesayangan yang disebabkan oleh tungau Sarcoptes scabiei atau Notoedres cati pada lapisan korneum kulit. Pemilik mengeluhkan kucing jantan mix-persia bernama Simba keluar rumah selama beberapa hari, kemudian pulang dalam kondisi ada luka diwajah, sering terlihat gelisah dan menggaruk bagian wajah, sedangkan makan dan minum kucing normal. Pemeriksaan fisik tampak rambut kusam, alopesia, terdapat lesi dibagian kepala, terdapat hiperkeratosis dibagian kepala dan telinga bagian luar. Pemeriksaan sitologi dilakukan dengan teknik superfisial skin scraping dan terlihat tungau Notoedres cati. Diagnosa kucing tersebut terkena penyakit scabies/scabiosis. Terapi yang diberikan adalah wormectin® (avermectin) dosis 0,05 ml/kg bobot badan injeksi tunggal. Hari ke 9 pasca-terapi menunjukkan pemulihan berupa keropeng mulai hilang, lesi akibat garukan kucing mulai mengering dan beberapa bagian rambut yang rontok mulai tumbuh kembali.

Abstract

Feline panleukopenia is an infectious disease caused by the feline panleukopenia virus (FPV). The signs of infected cats in-clude fever, lethargy, anorexia, diarrhoea, and vomit. A secondary infection can exacerbate this condition, such as bacteria. The aim of this study to find out the diagnostic technique and the FPV detection method using the FPV antigen test kit. On August 2nd, 2021, the cat was brought to Griya Fauna Mojokerto with severe flu. In addition, based on the information, the cat has decreased appetite. The physical examination results that the temperature was 39.5 °C, bodyweight of 2.9 kg, and the cat looked weak when observed. Further, the FPV antigen test kit was used to confirm the diagnosis in this case. The FPV antigen test kit showed positive results that indicated by forming two lines on the test line (T) and the control line (C).

Abstract

Dioksin merupakan turunan dari Polychlorinated trichloro-dibenzo-p-dioxins (TCDDs) yang bersifat lipofilik dan bioakumulasi. Dioksin mampu berikatan dengan Aryl hydrocarbon Receptors maupun Transforming Growth Faktor Beta, sehingga sitokrom P450 teraktivasi dan memicu kerusakan jaringan. Kasein yogurt susu kambing merupakan sumber peptida bioaktif dan antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh tablet konvensional kasein yogurt susu kambing terhadap kadar residu dioksin dan kerusakan jaringan musuculus pectoralis ayam broiler yang terpapar dioksin. Penelitian ini menggunakan 18 ekor ayam broiler berusia 21 hari, dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok, terdiri atas: 1) Kelompok negatif (tanpa perlakukan); 2) Kelompok positif (TCDD 50 ng/kg pakan/hari); 3) Kelompok terapi (TCDD 50 ng/kg pakan/hari + tablet konvensional kasein yogurt susu kambing 750 mg/ekor peroral). Kadar residu dioksin diukur dengan metode spektrofotometri-UV diolah sebagai data kuantitatif dianalisa dengan sidik ragam (ANOVA) dilanjutkan Uji Tukey. Histopatologi musculus pectoralis diwarnai dengan menggunakan metode pewarnaan Hematoxylin-Eosin (HE) dan diamati secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan analisa statistik pemberian tablet konvensional kasein yogurt susu kambing memberikan pengaruh tidak berbeda nyata (p>0.05) pada penurunan kadar residu dioksin, namun data pengukuran residu dioksin menunjukkan bahwa adanya penurunan kadar residu dioksin sebesar 18,20%. Pemberian tablet konvensional kasein yogurt susu kambing juga terbukti dapat memperbaiki kerusakan jaringan musculus pectoralis ayam broiler (Gallus domesticus) yang dipapar dioksin dengan mengurangi jumlah jaringan ikat perimisium yang mengalami penebalan. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah pemberian tablet konvensional kasein yogurt susu kambing tidak memberi pengaruh yang signifikan untuk menurunkan kadar residu TCDD dan dapat memperbaiki kerusakan histopatologi musculus pectoralis ayam broiler (Gallus domesticus) yang dipapar dioksin.

Abstract

Purple roselle has ingredients such as organic acids, anthocyanins, polysaccharides, and flavonoids. The antioxidant content in purple roselle has benefits in preventing cell damage due to free radicals. This study was conducted to discoverthe effect of supplementation yogurt fortified with a graded concentration of purple roselle extract on MDA levels and histology of the kidney organs of mice. Laboratory experimental study using 16 male Balb-C mice divided into four groups. The control (C) group was not given any treatment. The treatment groups 1,2, and 3 (T1, T2, T3) were given fortified purple roselle yogurt with concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 15%, respectively. The treatment was carried out for 14 days with a volume of 0.4 ml/day. Kidney organs were collected for histological analysis. Kidney malondialdehydelevels were assayed using the TBARS test and statistically analyzed with a 95% confidence level by one-way ANOVA analysis. Histology score analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test followed by the Mann- Whitney test. This study showedthat at concentrations of 10% and 15%, MDA levels of the mice kidneys reduce significantly compared to the control group. The kidney histology score results show some changes in treatment groups compares to control group. The average score decreasing from different treatment group, and the lowest score was group given yogurt fortified roselle extract 15%. The administration of fortified yogurt with purple roselle extract at a concentration of 15% can reduce MDA levels in the kidneys of mice, and the higher the concentration can reduce kidney damage in mice.

Abstract

Dioxin is one of the environmental persistent organic pollutants that harm animal and human health. Prolonged exposure to 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) can disrupt normal organ function including heart. Yogurt is known to have antioxidant properties, and fortification natural plant-based antioxidant purple roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa L) extract into yogurt can improve the antioxidant potential. The purpose of this study was to determine the preventive effect of yogurt fortified with purple roselle on dioxin exposure rats (Rattus norvegicus) based on the levels of Malondialdehyde (MDA) and histopathological of the heart. This experimental study using a completely randomized design (CRD). A total of 30 male Wistar rats were divided into 5 groups (NC, PC, T1, T2, T3), a dose of 200 ng/kg BW TCDD and 1 mL of roselle yogurt 0.5%, 1.0%, and 1.5% were given orally for 12 days. MDA levels were analyzed using the Thiobarbituric Acid (TBA) assay and histopathology of the heart using the Haematoxylin Eosin (HE) staining method. Statistical analysis using one-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Histopathology changes were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that TCDD exposure induced oxidative stress in heart tissue and yogurt roselle has the potential to prevent an increase of MDA levels significantly (p<0.05). Furthermore, TCDD can cause histopathological alterations such as necrosis and hemorrhage, and yogurt roselle was proven to prevent cardiotoxicity due to TCDD exposure.

Abstract

Background: Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease caused by Leptospira interrogans and infects almost all mammals. Purpose: Finding out the correct diagnosis and choosing the best treatment outcome regarding clinical symptom recovery and confirmatory investigations. Method: This literature study compared the percentage of related parameters from 18 cases and discussed 18 cases of dogs infected with leptospirosis with international coverage. Based on the literature, methods for diagnosing leptospirosis in dogs include anamnesis, clinical symptoms, abnormal clinical pathology findings, serological tests such as the Microscopic Agglutination Test (MAT), and molecular diagnostics such as Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). Results: Dominant clinical symptom in the digestive system was vomiting (55%), whereas the consistent hematological finding was thrombocytopenia (55.5%), and the consistent blood chemistry finding was elevated BUN (66.6%). Most case studies used the molecular diagnostic method MAT which found positive results (55.5%). Therapeutic management carried out in the case studies included causative treatment of antibiotics (doxycycline, benzylpenicillin, amoxicillin, and enrofloxacin), fluid therapy (crystalloids), antioxidants (vitamin C), mucolytics (N-acetylcysteine), and antiemetics (metoclopramide). The number of patients declared cured was 44.5%, and 55.5% died. Conclusion: The predominant clinical symptoms of leptospirosis are categorized as non-specific, with the largest number being vomit. The dominant method of diagnosis of leptospirosis was obtained from 16 cases using hematology and blood chemistry tests. The therapy is given causatively, namely doxycycline antibiotics, whereas symptomatic signs are resolved using metoclopramide as an antiemetic.

Abstract

Peradangan ambing pada sapi perah yang lebih dikenal sebagai mastitis masih menjadi masalah utama dalam industri susu. Kerugian peternak karena mastitis disebabkan oleh penurunan produksi susu dan penurunan kualitas susu yang dihasilkan. Pada umumnya pengetahuan peternak rakyat akan mastitis sebatas pada mastitis klinis karena gejala klinis yang dapat teramati. Mastitis yang sifatnya subklinis sulit dideteksi dan apabila dibiarkan tanpa penanganan dapat menjadi sumber penularan ke sapi perah lainnya. Deteksi mastitis subklinis pada sapi perah menggunakan uji tidak langsung yaitu california mastitis test (CMT) atau menggunakan uji langsung dengan penghitungan jumlah sel somatis (JSS). Penelitian ini merupakan studi lintas seksional dengan menggunakan sampel susu kwartir pada peternakan sapi perah rakyat di dusun Bakir, desa Sukomulyo, kabupaten Batu. Pengujian mastitis dilakukan di lapangan dengan uji CMT dan di laboratorium untuk penghitungan JSS. Pengambilan data dengan kuesioner untuk mengetahui faktor predisposisi mastitis. Prevalensi mastitis subklinis berdasarkan JSS adalah 60,22% dan berdasarkan uji CMT di lapangan adalah 18,20% dari total sampel kwartir. Faktor predisposisi yang mempengaruhi masih adanya kejadian mastitis pada peternakan antara lain kebersihan sapi, kandang, dan sanitasi sebelum dan sesudah pemerahan.

Abstract

Background: Goat milk yogurt is a functional food made from processed food of animal origin with the help of LAB fermentation, which is healthy for the body. The utilization of red rice bran flour as an additional ingredient in making yogurt can increase the level of antioxidant activity and become a food fiber content in yogurt. Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of refrigerated storage temperatures (4℃) of goat milk yogurt with the addition of red rice bran flour on total LAB and antioxidant activity. Methods: Using a CRD with five treatments and four replications. The treatment included 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 weeks of storage. Each treatment group will be calculated for total LAB using the TPC method and antioxidant activity testing using the DPPH method. The data obtained were analyzed using the One Way ANOVA Test followed by the Duncan Test to determine the effect between treatment groups. Results: The results showed that storage time significantly affected (p<0.01) total LAB and antioxidant activity. The results of total LAB successively from 0 to 4 weeks of storage were 8,0 x 108 CFU/ml, 7,8 x 107 CFU/ml, 7,6 x 107 CFU/ml, 6,4 x 106 CFU/ml, and 6,3 x 106 CFU/ml. The results of antioxidant activity successively from 0 to 4 weeks of storage were 534,29 mg/ml, 443,96 mg/ml, 358,61 mg/ml, 282,32 mg/ml, and 230,88 mg/ml. Conclusion: Goat’s milk yogurt with the addition of brown rice bran flour is recommended to be consumed for up to 2 weeks of storage.

Abstract

Background: Rhodamin B and saccharin are chemicals that are harmful to the health of the body. Consumption of rhodamine B and saccharin for a long time can cause problems for the body such as impaired organ function. Purpose: The aim was to find out the benefits of giving purple rosella yogurt in preventing damage to the kidneys and ileum of Rattus norvegicus caused by rhodamine B and saccharin. Methods: Using RAL with 28 male Rattus novergicus aged 8-12 weeks. Group K(-) was not given any treatment, K(+R) was given rhodamine B, K(+S) was given saccharin, K(+K) was given rhodamine B and saccharin, P1 was given rhodamine B and yoghurt, P2 was given saccharin and yoghurt, P3 was given rhodamine B, saccharin, and yogurt. The dose of rhodamine B was 22.5 mg/kg, the dose of saccharin was 157.7 mg/kg, the volume of yoghurt was 1 ml/head. Administered orally with gastric tube for 14 days. The concentration of purple rosella extract used was 15% (v/v). Results: Group K(+K) showed the heaviest damage. Groups P1, P2, and P3 still found damage to the kidneys, in P1 they experienced thickening of Bowman's capsule in the glomerulus, in P2 they experienced a loss of more than 25% of the brush border in the tubules, and in P3 they experienced glomerular tufts in the glomerulus. In the ileum, P1 experienced thickening of the muscles, P2 experienced clusters of inflammatory cells in the submucosa, and P3 experienced 10-50% loss of goblet cells. Conclusion: Provision of purple rosella yogurt can prevent damage to the kidneys and ileum of Rattus novergicus due to rhodamine B and saccharin, although it is not optimal.
