Abstract

The main problem of humans in the process of meeting their needs lies in their ability to improve a better standard of living. This problem is more rooted in human consciousness to encourage themselves to be more productive in living life. In the context of Islamic societies, the most effective way of encouraging them to improve their standard of living is by using religious argumentations, particularly the Qur'an. The Qur'an contains a set of rules that explain how a person can enhance his quality of life. By using the al-Farmawi thematic method and the hermeneutics of liberation, this study revealed that an improvement in work ethic is needed to improve a better standard of living. The enhancement of work ethic can be actualized when humans realize their self essences and the essence of God's creation. To gain the self essence is by raising awareness that God, through his generosity, has given each person livelihood since the beginning of creation. Humans' assignment is only to obtain the livelihood in the right ways. This belief makes them not to be ambitious in working while their self essences can awaken humans to be always proportional in their work and can understand the given rules. The basis of theological liberation in the Qur'an does not only take place in one broad social community but also in every individual through awareness of the meaning of various symbols given by God. This then can lead people to a more decent level of life applied to work productivity.

Abstract

The term corruption is known in modern society and was not found in the early days and development of Islam. In Indonesia, many corrupt practices were found around 1950. Furthermore, in relation to its legal arguments, al-Qur’an does not directly mention laws and sanctions for corruptors. Therefore there are many differences of opinion in determining the sentence. This research will discuss and explore the laws and sanctions for corruptors from the four verses of the Qur'an, namely QS. Āli ‘Imrān [3]: 161, QS. Al-Nisā '[4]: 29, QS. Al-Baqarah [2]: 188, and QS. Al-Māidah [5]: 38 using the khāfī alfāz interpretation approach. By using thematic methods and liberative hermeneutics, this study finds a conclusion that the law of corruption is the same as al-sāriq and the legal consequences are the same as thieves, namely punishment (cutting off hands) or imprisonment

Abstract

Diskusi tentang kesetaraan antara pria dan wanita dari zaman pra-Islam hingga Islam datang terus menjadi perbicangan serius. Dalam Islam, salah satu yang memantik diskusi tersebut adalah kajian atas kata nafs wahidah perihal asal usul penciptaan wanita, yang tersebut dalam QS. al-Nisa’ (4): 1, QS. al-Nisa’ (4): 41, QS. al-A’raf (7): 189, QS. al-Nahl (16): 72, QS. al-Rum (30): 21, QS. al-Zumar (39): 6, dan QS. al-Syura (42): 11. Beberapa ayat-ayat tentang nafs wahidah ini yang dalam pembahasan artikel ini disebut dengan “ayat-ayat kesetaraan” karena menjadi dalil kesetaraan gender antara pria dan wanita. Dari kata nafs wahidah, mufassir klasik cenderung memaknainya bahwa wanita diciptakan dari tulang rusuk pria yang pada akhirnya berimplikasi pada ketimpangan gender. Seiring berjalannya waktu, mufassir dan tokoh modern menggugat terhadap penafsiran mufassir klasik, termasuk di antaranya Zaitunah Subhan yang menjadi fokus penelitian ini. Akan hal itu, penelitian ini ingin menjawab sebuah pertanyaan; bagaimana penafsiran Zaitunah Subhan atas ayat-ayat kesetaraan dalam al-Qur’an?. sebagai langkah metodis, artikel ini menggunakan metode analisis diskriptif dengan bertumpu pada kajian pustaka (library reseach). Pada akhirnya, penelitian ini menghasilkan sebuah kesimpulan bahwa Zaitunah Subhan memaknai kata nafs wahidah bukanlah Adam (pria) tapi lebih tepatnya adalah “diri yang satu” di mana Hawa (wanita) juga diciptakan darinya. Tidak ada perbedaan antara keduanya kecuali tingkat ketakwaan yang dimilikinya.

Abstract

This paper discusses the MUI fatwa on Ahmadiyah. The purpose of this research is to find out MUI's interpretation of religious harmony, as well as to find out the verses used by MUI in its fatwa on Ahmadiyah through the concept of hermeneutics Abou Khaled El Fadl. To answer this problem, the researcher uses the maudhu'i interpretation approach, which is interpreting the verses of the Qur'an not based on the order of the verses, but based on the problem being studied. It means to explain the verses of the Qur'an by referring to one specific subject, namely Ahmadiyya. This research uses a qualitative approach with library research. Data collection techniques are done by quoting, adapting, and analyzing the literature that is relevant to the problem discussed, then reviewing and concluding. The results showed that; through the authoritative hermeneutics of abou khaled el fadl against the MUI fatwa on the misguidance of the Ahmadiyah, there are several assumptions including: first, of the five conditions that require, there are conditions that have not been fulfilled, namely honesty and conference. Second, there are faith-based assumptions that are very dominant in this institution.
