Abstract

This article aims to analyze the consumption and subsistence level of farm households. This research was conducted in Sungai Berbari Village, Pusako District, Siak District Province of Riau. Samples were taken as many as 55 farm households. Samples were grouped with large-scale farmers (> 2 hectares), narrow land (<2 hectares) and tenants (most of the land that was managed by others). Farmer income exchange rates are calculated using the concept of subsistence exchange rates (NTS). Multiple linear regression is used to determine the factors that influence the level of subsistence of farmers. The results of the study found that household consumption of farmers is directly proportional to the area of land owned. Food consumption of smallholder farmers is categorized as vulnerable or food insecure and smallholders are not prosperous because the percentage of food expenditure is greater than the percentage of non-food expenditure. Man land ratio and dependency ratio have positive and significant influence on subsistence of farm households. Farmers owning land have lower subsistence levels compared to farmers who work on other parties' land.

Abstract

The cluster policy is an option for regions to spur regional development. Encouraging strong local industry is an attractive view for actors as a way of concentrating economic activity in the region. If the cluster policy is successful, it can contribute to job creation and the initiation of growth processes in the region. This makes cluster policy an attractive tool for regional economic policy. This article presents a case study from Riau Province as well as some theoretical considerations on the use of cluster policies. The industrial cluster in Riau is mainly for processing agricultural products for export purposes, except for the one in Pelalawan Regency with its Techno Park. The other five industrial clusters still prioritize the food industry group and processed palm oil products. In cases such as Buruk Bakul in Bengkalis Regency and Kuala Enok in Indragiri Hilir Regency, other political instruments are more likely to be the method of choice. Reliable resources are available, reviving through new production centers. In some cases, the efforts of the cluster policy did not achieve the optimal goal. Apart from Kuala Enok and Buruk Bakul, the Techno Park area in Pelalawan Regency is also not optimal, while the Tenayan area in Pekanbaru City has no industry or tenants who rent it.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the determinants of farmer participation in sharia microfinance institutions.  The study area covers Siak Regency and Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province. Respondents were taken as many as 30 respondents in Siak and 32 respondents in Bengkalis. The probit regression model is used to explain the factors that influence farmer participation in sharia microfinance institutions. Farmer loans are used for working capital, buying seeds and daily necessities. Most of the financing is wakalah wal mudhárabah and very few borrows in the form of wakalah wal musháraka. The results showed that the factors that influence farmer participation are education, dependency ratio, value of liquid assets owned, and farmers' income. The farther the farmer's house is from the location of the shariah microfinance institution, the less opportunity to participate. Other independent variables included in the model have no significant effect on farmers' opportunities to participate in sharia microfinance institutions in the two districts.

This study aims to analyze the development of the frozen kebab industry in Pekanbaru City. In this study, the number of research population is all frozen kebab industry business actors in Pekanbaru City, namely 7 businesses, the sampling in this study uses the census method because the population is less than 100 so that the entire population is sampled. The analytical method used is descriptive quantitative. Measurements carried out in this study are by using a questionnaire, the existing data is processed and analyzed using data tabulation, while to analyze it is by using a SWOT analysis tool. Based on the results of the study, it is known that the results of the IE matrix analysis are compiled by plotting the total score of the IFAS and EFAS matrices. On the average weight and rating, these internal factors have the highest average weight and rating. Weakness is frozen resistance outside of refrigeration. This means that respondents consider this factor to be the most important weakness compared to other weaknesses. The main opportunity for the frozen kebab industry in Pekanbaru City is the increasing use of social media which is increasingly becoming an easier and more economical promotion target. While the threat is the existence of policies that require social distancing so as to limit direct meetings with consumers. This means that respondents consider this factor to be the most important threat compared to other threat indicators. Based on the IE Matrix, it is in the S-O strategy column, this is because the meeting between IFAS and EFAS is on opportunities and strengths.

Abstract

Village expenditure is critical for improving public services and welfare, but it is not yet felt by the community to its full potential. Village spending continues to be dominant for village officials' expenditures and physical activities. The objective of this research is to examine the involvement, transparency, and appropriateness of village spending. Additionally, this study examines the relationship between village spending and knowledge, technological ability, and village development. Forty-five participants were interviewed, including 18 village officials and representatives from 27 communities. Contingency table and rank Spearman correlation are the two primary analytic tools. Village expenditures in Kampa District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province, averaged over one billion rupiah, according to research. Village expenditures on community empowerment are distributed according to each village's needs. The majority of communities participate in the planning, implementation, and administration of village expenditures. There is no significant difference in the community's and village officials' perceptions of community involvement and transparency in village spending. Between village officials and the community, there are differences in perceptions of the suitability and accuracy of village spending. Spending in villages fosters community empowerment. There is a strong correlation between village expenditure and the development of community capacity and understanding. The capacity to use technology is also related to the amount of money spent by villages on empowerment. The majority of village officials and members of the community stated that village expenditure on empowerment had resulted in increased village development.
