Abstract

This paper aims at exploring the values which become the basis for management practice at Gontor. The preliminary observation finds that Gontor management does not follow the mainstream management theory. It has a unique management system, and oftentimes been considered to be not standard. However, Gontor exists and gradually develops with its own unique management system. The study suggests that Gontor has its own standards which are mainly based on Islamic values. Indeed, there are a lot of values, but basically they can be simplified into the five spirits of Pondok Pesantren namely sincerity, simplicity, self reliance, Islamic brotherhood, and freedom. Each one of these spirits becomes a standard of excellence for Gontor management. Hence, vision, long term plans, organization, leadership style, and controlling are designed and practiced based on them. Finally, this paper argues that the sustainability of Gontor depends on how well the management implements these five spirits into practice. In other words, Gontor will always exist and continue to flourish and prosper if it maintains these spirits and will deteriorate by the erosion of them. Abstract

Even though the banking industry is growing exponentially, but they are still out of reach from the hardcore poor. The population under poverty remains financially excluded from the mainstream banking facilities. The aim of this paper is to examine the main factors that hinder customers to access financing from mainstream banking in Indonesia province of East Java using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA). The study also attempts to identify the possibility of Islamic microfinance, in this case Baitul Maal Tamwil, (BMT) as role of model in integrating commercial and social seeking which can be used as one of an alternative platform to enhance financial inclusion.  In quantitative data, the paper employs primary data collected by self-administered questionnaires involving a sample of 243 respondents. To explore the micro-entrepreneurs’ criteria of barrier access to finance, an exploratory factor analysis is employed. In qualitative data, a semi-structure interview used to generate information from the respondents. The interview covers the second objectives and involves seven experts in microfinance including practitioner and academicians.  The study reveals that, the religious factor is perceived as the most important factor to be considered as financing barriers factors, then followed by affordability, accessibility, eligibility, and availability factors. The study indicates that Islamic microfinance may be an alternative platform to integrate commercial and social objective in order to enhance financial inclusion.

Abstract

The effort to preserve the beauty of the environment is an obligation for every social creature that lives on this earth. These efforts are carried out and planned so that every human being has a caring attitude and responsibility with the surrounding environment. In educational institutions the role of a teacher cannot be separated in the educational process. To realize students as quality resources cannot be separated from the environment. This article intends to explain about environmental education in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 7 Jombang. With a qualitative case study approach, this research was carried out through observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the discussion from the research show that, in the implementation of their roles and participation in forming and increasing environmental awareness by teachers, students are well implemented. Most of them have a caring attitude to their environment, which is proven by their daily habits, which is to dispose of waste according to the space provided. It's just that for minorities who are still indifferent to the environment, support and encouragement from teachers need to be increased so that all madrasa residents, especially students, have positive behavior, be aware and care about the surrounding environmen

Abstract

This article describes a method in developing control charts for generalized variance as a quality statistics in terms of process variability through simulation. Mathematical equation that maps sample size n and number of quality variables p onto constant multiplier of standard deviation K is obtained thorough least square method using simulated data. The constant K for a certain n and p is used for control charts with the upper control limits of UCL=μ+Kσ where μ and σ are the mean and the standard deviation of the generalized variance, respectively. The simulation of finding the constant K is used with the constraint of 3 sigma paradigm.

Abstract

Abstract. Financial literacy is the knowledge and understanding of financial concepts and risks, and the skills, motivation and confidence to apply such knowledge and understanding in order to make effective decisions across a range of financial contexts, to improve the financial well-being of individuals and society, and to enable participation in economic life. This research goals are to gain the design for a learning program that is aligning fiqh mu’āmalāt and financial literacy. We used research and development approach with four-D model that is reduced into three stages: define, design, and develop. It was gained a syllabus that is completed by lesson plan, student worksheets, and assessment instrument as well, that is validated by experts and practitioners and reliability counted based on test. The final test of these educational ideas are in learning implementation. The implementation of this program is not carreid out yet.Abstrak. Literasi finansial adalah pengetahuan dan pemahaman tentang konsep-konsep keuangan dan risiko, serta keterampilan, motivasi dan kepercayaan diri untuk menerapkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman tersebut untuk membuat keputusan yang efektif di berbagai konteks keuangan, guna meningkatkan kesejahteraan keuangan individu dan masyarakat, dan untuk memungkinkan partisipasi dalam kehidupan ekonomi. Riset ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan desain untuk program pembelajaran yang menyelaraskan fiqh mu’āmalāt dan literasi finansial. Kami menggunakan pendekatan research and development model four-D yang direduksi menjadi tiga tahap: mendefinisikan, merancang, dan mengembangkan. Diperoleh hasil berupa silabus yang dilengkapi oleh rencana pembelajaran, lembar kerja siswa, dan instrumen penilaian, yang divalidasi oleh para pakar dan praktisi serta keandalan dihitung berdasarkan uji coba. Tes akhir dari setiap gagasan pendidikan ini dalam implementasi pembelajaran. Implementasi program ini belum dilakukan. Â
