Abstract

Song is a short poem or other set of words set to music or meant to be sung. By listening to the songs, we can get knowledge about appreciating literature and the background of the song. The objective of this study is to analyze the lexical meanings and the contextual meaning in Lyn lapid song lyrics that are “In My Mind” and “Itsy Bitsy”. The aim of this discussion is to try to make sense of the song lyric from the side view of semantic meaning: lexical meaning and contextual meaning. The step to obtain the data is by collecting sources of the data from Lyn lapid song’s lyrics that are “In My Mind” and “Itsy Bitsy Spider” that has been posted in youtube. After that selected the lyric which contain of semantic, reads and listens to the lyrics to understand the content of the songs conducts and analyzes the collected data and makes conclusion.The result of this research is as follows: (1) related to the lexical meaning, while (2) related to the contextual meaning

Abstract

In pragmatic research, conversations or utterances are important things to pay attention to because the speakers' use of language has an impact. Interestingly, the communication that we do usually does not necessarily follow the rules of maxims so we get the result of violating the rules of maxims. This study analyzed the detailed factor of violation and flouting of maxims which affect the way people communicate on a daily basis which are quietly violating to misleading, opting out, clashing, and flouting. This study utilized the qualitative method with the total of 17 data combined on each of the maxims acquired through the movie The Adam Project and analyzed by utilizing the theory of Cooperative Principle and Maxims. The results indicated that data about all types of maxim are found and for quantity and relation maxims, both are mostly violated by quietly violating to reach misleading purposes whereas quality and manner tend to be flouted to create conversational implicature, which the hearer should make an effort to understand the utterance

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to determine the types of homonymous words and the meaning of each type of homonymous word in the top 5 Tongue twister English- learn English with English class on the YouTube channel Learning English. The data was analyzed using Parera's (2004) theory. The research design is qualitative, and the data sources for this investigation are the homonyms that appear within the tongue twister. According to the data, there are two types of homonyms: homophones and homographs. There are ten homophones on the video, two in each tongue twister, while there is only one homograph in the "if two witches were to watch two watches, which one would they watch?" tongue twister. It can be concluded that homophones shape the majority of homonyms. Understanding homonym and homograph usage and distinctions in tongue twisters and also to improve the use of pronunciation is the objective of this research

Abstract

Children's stories, especially Balinese stories, are one of the effective media to provide environmental education to children and introduce their mother tongue or regional language as early as possible as a form of language preservation. In addition, the introduction of stories to children from an early age will have an impact on children's love of literacy. This research analyses the environmental lexicon from an ecolinguistics perspective found in Balinese children's stories. This research aims to identify biological, sociological, and ideological aspects of Balinese children's stories. This is qualitative research, the data was taken from a Balinese children’s story entitled Pasawitran I Jangkrik Teken I Petani. The result shows that children can learn some environmental and farming-based lexicons in this story, which is very good and necessary for language preservation. Ideologically, children are invited to understand the importance of environmental protection and ecological balance. By applying these sociological aspects in the story Pasawitran I Jangkrik Teken I Petani children can learn about social dynamics, tradition, and social systems
