Abstract

Learning materials that are locally relevant with the diversity of students’ condition and needs and meaningfulfor their learning are one of some factors influencing the students’ achievement.  However, it is not easy forteacher to provide the students with these adequate learning materials.  Teachers are sometimes just left with aset of textbooks to use without additional learning materials. Besides, there are just few teachers trained toadopt, adapt, and mediate locally available learning materials to meet the current needs of the students. As aresult a number of learners do not achieve the learning objective. This paper is in the form of descriptive studytalking about supplementary materials for reading skill based on constructivism principles for students’ effectivelearning.  It proposes a practical model for developing supplementary materials following constructivismprinciples by fostering teachers to do self-evaluation of their teaching and need analysis for accommodating thestudents’ diversity condition. Supplementary materials are designed to provide students with engaging activitiesthrough which they develop skills, acquire concepts and be responsible for their learning.

Abstract

Meat quality represents meat properties known by consumers and affects their acceptance.  Feed is one of the factors affecting meat quality.  Utilization of pineapple waste as a fiber source in cattle feeding is potential to reduce feed cost.  Pineapple waste can be used as feed and as meat tenderizer.  However, many believes that feeding pineapple waste to cattle distract beef quality.  This study was aimed at assessing meat sensory quality of Brahman Cross cattle fed pineapple waste as fiber source.  Six Brahman Cross (BX) cattle aged 2.5-3 years were used.  The cattle were fattened for 120 days.  Three cattle was fed rations containing concentrate and pineapple waste silage and the remaining cattle was fed rations containing concentrate and corn leaf silage. In the end of the study period, the animals were slaughtered and meat was cut based on the commercial slaughtering standard.  Meat samples of Longissimus dorsi muscles were taken.  Beef sample aging was conducted at 0ºC for 3 months.  Measurements of beef characteristics were taken monthly.  A completely randomized design was used.  Data were subjected to a Kruskal Wallis test and meat physical characteristics were analysed by repetaed measurement analysis of variance.  The parameters observed comprised pH values, tenderness, cooking loss, water holding capacity, meat colors (L*, a*, b* value), organoleptic test hedonic and hedonic quality (aroma, tenderness, color, and mucus).  The results showed that the pineapple waste did not have significant influences on meat physical characteristics observed, except meat color a* values at two month aging, meat color L* value at three month aging. It was concluded that pineapple was could be used as a fiber source in beef cattle fattening with no negative effect on meat quality.

Abstract

Orchid is one of plants that have econimic value. One of the favorite orchid is Ceoloigyne celebensis J.J.Smith. Ceologyne celebensis is endemic of sulawesi, but research proves if the orchid including extince prone categories so it needs to be preserved.  Propagation of Ceologyne celebensis  will  be done by tissue culture  methode. The growth of orchids will be assisted by providing coconut water as substances growth regulator with some concentrasion. This sutdy aims to determine the effect of coconut water to the shoots and leaves of celogyne celebensis and to know how much of coconut water to be the best concentration. Treatment provide to protocorm is P0=MS + 0 coconut water (Control), P1= MS + 50 ml coconut water, P2= MS + 100 ml coconut water, P3=MS + 150 ml cococnut water, and P4= MS + 200 ml coconut water.Besed research results can be known that 200 ml of coconut water is the best concentration to the growth of orchid ceologyne celebensis . soots appears in 12,2 days and  total of shoots is 1. Abstract

Rendahnya produktivitas kambing perah di peternakan rakyat disebabkan karena tata kelola peternakan yang masih minim,dan belum masuknya teknologi dalam manajemen seperti teknologi pakan, reproduksi, dan teknologi hasil ternak. Desa Sukamanah memiliki potensi untuk pengembangan kambing perah karena didukung oleh luas lahan dan cuaca yang cocok untuk budidaya ternak perah dan ketersediaan tenaga kerja. Namun peternak di desa ini masih belum memahami bagaimana manajemen yang baik. Pelatihan dalam bentuk penyuluhan dan praktik langsung mengenai  manajemen budidaya kambing perah dan perbaikan kandang kambing perah telah dilakukan di desa Sukamanah.  Petani peternak antusias mengikuti kegiatan penyuluhan. Materi penyuluhan sebagian besar dapat dipahami karena mereka sudah terbiasa memelihara kambing perah dan memiliki keinginan untuk mengembangkan dan meningkatkan ketrampilan.Kata Kunci: kambing Peranakan Etawa, desa SukamanahEMPOWERMENT OF FARMER WOMEN GROUP THROUGH ENHANCEMENT OF MANAGEMENT SKILLS OF FARMERS  THROUGH TRAINING MANAGEMENT OF DAIRY GOATSLIVESTOCKThe low productivity of dairy goats in livestock farming is due to poor farming management and  lack of technology in management such as feed technology, reproduction, and technology of livestock products. The Sukamanah village has potential for the development of dairy goats as it is supported by land and weather areas suitable for dairy cultivation and labor availability. But the breeder farmer  in this village still do not understand how good  management in farming . Training in the form of counseling and direct practice on dairy goat farming management and improvement of dairy cages has been done in Sukamanah village. Farmer farmers enthusiastically follow the extension activities. Extension materials are largely understandable because they are used to nurturing dairy goats and have a desire to develop and improve skills.

Abstract

Bambusa arundinacea contains high of Phosporous and Potassium (P and K) elements, that have a high potential to be main material for compost. Both P and K are very importent in inproving soil quality and plant growth. The studywas conducted on January until march 2019 at Permanent Nursery of BPDAS Palu-Poso, Tadulako University, Central Sulawesi. The study was arranged by a Completely Randomized Design with four treatments, i.e. S0 = soil without bamboo leave compost; S1= 300 g  soil : 300 g compost; S2 = 400 g soil : 200 g compost; S3 = 450 g soil : 150 g compost. Each treatment are replicated on 7 replications. There are 28 experimental units. Growth parametres observed are seedling height, stem diameter and number of leaves, wet and dry weight of shoots and roots of seedlings, and seedling quality index. Result of study showed that bamboo leave compost significantly effect on Mimusops elengi  L seedling growt. Treatment S2 = 400 g soil : 200g compost might significantly increase tanjong tree seedling growth, as follows seedling height growth (4,16 cm), stem diameter (0,3 mm), leave numbers (3 leaves), shoot wet weight (1.36 g), root wet weight (0.26 g), shootdry weight (0.53 g), root dry weight (0.22 g), and seedling quality index of  0,05.

Abstract

Aren (Arenga pinnata (Wurmb.) Merr have an important role in Indonesia, especially to support life of rural communities. Currently, aren plants are more directed to be a solution to overcome poverty  problems, environmental conservation, biofuel, food security, and employment of farmers. This study aims to study the technology of the acquisition of vigor aren sprouts, so that the vigor sprouts are ready to be bred in large quantities in a relatively short time to support the cultivation of palm trees. Through vigor testing the strength grows against drought on early growth of sprouts of aren seedlings. This research was  conducting for five months, starting from December 2015 until April 2016, at Seed Technology Laboratory, Faculty of Agricultural, Tadulako University. This experiment used a Randomized Block Design with a separate plot factorial pattern. Each treatments was repeated three times. The treatment in this study consisted of two the main plots; first was normal sprouts that had passed the storage period (K)consisted of three levels, second was the plot of water availability condition(A), consisted of two levels. The results showed that the longer storage periode was produced the better viability and vigor of aren sprouts. The availability of field water capacity can increased the strength of sprout growth and it has significant effect on the growth component of sprouts of aren indicated by the length of plumula, total root length, and dry weight of sprouts. The 14-days storage period under field water capacity availability conditions demonstrated better sprout growth with plumula length and root length ratio, germination rate and improved germination rate.

Abstract

Chicken manure compost contains high levels of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium nutrients that are useful for plants, the provision of chicken manure compost can improve soil structure on lands that lack on organicmatter. The research was conducted in may-juli 2019 at the palu – poso bpdas permanent seedbed, tadulako university, central Sulawesi. This research used completely randomized design method with four treatments, namely S0 = soil without chicken manure compost; S1 = 1000g of soil : 50g of compost; S2 = 1000g of soil : 100g of compost; S3 = 1000g of soil : 150g of compost. Each treatment was repeated 10 times so that there are a total of 40 experiment units. Growth parameters observed ware seedling height, stem diameter, number of leavers, wet weight, shoot dry weight and seedling root, and seed quality indeks. The results show that chicken manure compost significantly ofected the growth of glodokan seedling growth. Treatment S1 = 1000g of soil : 50g chicken manure compost significantly increases the growth of glodokan seedling, as follows growth of seedling height (5,68 cm), stem diameter (1,44 mm),  number of leaves (5 leaves), shoot wet weight (2,96 g), root wet weight (0,64g), canopy dry weight (1,19g), root dry weight (0,55g), and seed quality indeks 0,20Kata Kunci: Chicken Manure, Compost, Glodokan, Polyathia longifolia Sonn

Abstract

Etika Bisnis dalam perusahaan sangat berperan penting, karena suatu perusahaan bisa dikatakan berhasil bukan karena berlandaskan moral saja dan manajemen yang baik, dan harus memiliki etika yang baik. Adapun tujuan penulisan pembuatan paper ini adalah meneliti bahwa penerapan business ethics di PT. Bintang Timur Sakti dapat membawa perusahaan dalam mencapai visi dan misi perusahaan. Serta untuk memastikan etika bisnis yang dijalankan atau diterapkan oleh perusahaan sudah sesuai dengan norma-norma dan adat yang berlaku atau belum. Metode penelitian yang digunakan oleh penulis yaitu metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dan metode studi literature. Hasil yang ditemui penulis adalah penerapan bisnis etik yang baik dan sesuai memberikan pengaruh secara signifikan terhadap citra dan etos kerja PT. Bintang Timur Sakti.

Abstract

One of the obstacles in the cultivation of saga plant (Adenantherapavonina L)  was saga plant’s seeds (Adenantherapavonina L) have the high dormancy properties, it was caused by the hard seed coat which is impermeable to water. An effort to break the dormancy of the saga seeds coat (Adenantherapavonina L)  could be done by scarification. This research was located in PersemaianPermanen BPDAS Palu-Poso which is in the Tadulako University area, Palu, Central Sulawesi from June to August 2019. This research was used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method with four treatments and ten repetitions. Each repetition consisted of five saga seeds (Adenantherapavonina L). So that the saga seeds needed were 200 seeds. The scarification treatment was given S0 symbol: Without scarification (control), S1: Soaking in a hot water with 100oC temperature for 10 minutes. S2: Cutting on cotyledons, S3: Sanding on all plants of seed surfaces. The treatment of various types of scarification of saga seed germinations (Adenantherapavonina L)very significant effect on germination that is germination, speed of germination and simultaneity of germination. The highest germination, germination speed and simultaneity germination in the S3 treatment, namely sanding on the entire surface of the seed coat.The germination rate of S3 treatment with the highest value was 0.95%. The speed of germination with the highest value was 0.03%. Simultaneity germinated with the highest value of 4.40%. Whereas the lowest germination, germination speed and simultaneity germination were found in S0, that is  without treatment (control) with a value of 0.00%.Keywords: Seed, Germination, Adenanthera pavonina L
