Abstract

Primary Productivity is the formation process of organic compounds through photosynthesis. This research aimed to know primary productivity based on the concentration of chlorophyll-a, phytoplankton identification and it’s abundance at the estuarine of Kecamatan Talawi Kabupaten Batu Bara. The water sampling is conducted three times in two weeks interval during April until Mei 2014. From the observation is known first station’s estuary classified as Well-mixed estuary is the estuary that completely mixed, second station’s estuary as Salt wedge estuary is the estuary that has weak mixing. The research results that there are 5 classes 17 families and 25 species of phytoplankton. The highest species abundance is 1073,889 ind/l found at third station, and the highest abundance species is Skeletonema sp. The highest chlorophyll-a value is 0,89 mg/m3 was found at third station.Keywords: productivity, chlorophyll-a, phytoplankton, Skeletonema sp., estuarine, Kecamatan Talawi.

Abstract

The research about primary productivity is a common research, it is because by knowing the value about primary productivity that have by the ecosystem, we know the grade of productivity so we can using naturally and sustainable. The research was done in June until August 2014. The aim of this research was to knowing the grade of Primary Productivity of phytoplankton in Ular River at Deli Serdang and to analyze its relationship with the physical and chemical factors. The sampling station was determinated by Purposive sampling method. Samples were collected from 3 sampling station. The primary productivity was measured by the Oxygen method.The result showed that of primary productivity range from 225,216 – 394.128 mgC/m3/day with the highest value at station 2 and the lowest value at station 1. Analysis of pearson correlation Show that the factors which have a very strong relationship with the primary productivity are abundance of phytoplankton, nitrate, DO and light penetration. Factor which has a strong relationship with pimary productivity is pH.Key Words: primary productivity, oxygen methode , phytoplankton.

Abstract

Research of Baung’s food (Mystus nemurus C.V) was performed in Bingai river in June to August 2014. The purpose of this study was to determine the type of natu-ral food and the availability of natural forage baung (Mystus nemurus CV) in the Bingai River and general condition of the waters of the Bingai. Stomach contents were analyzed by using Index of preponderance. Stomach contents consisted of 8 types of fish, plant fibers, Thiara scabra, Planaria sp., Nodilittorina pyramidalis, Faunus ater, the rest of the insect, and coupled with parts not identified. The small fish is the main food, fiber plants is a complementary food, and Planaria sp., Thiara scabra, Nodilittorina pyramidalis, and Faunus ater are additional food. Benthos as natural food in the bottom waters which have the highest abundance was Thiara scabra. Baung selective about its food. Index of Electivity (E) indi-cates that Planaria sp. is a popular type of fish food benthos baung than other benthos.Keywords: Bingai river, Food habit, Mystus nemurus.

Abstract

Changes of chemical and physical parameters of water will disrupt theorganisms live in it, one of the types of organisms is freshwater pomfret (Colossomamacropomum). Toxicity tests are used to determine the status of tofu industrialwastewater for the mortality rate of freshwater pomfret. Therefore, the required value ofLethal Concentration 50% (LC50) 96 hours which is the concentration that causes 50%of test animals died within 96 hours of exposure time. This study aims to determine theLC50 value of tofu industrial wastewater for the freshwater pomfret and theconcentration effect of tofu industrial wastewater for the mortality rate of freshwaterpomfret. The study was conducted from July until August 2015. Research proceduresinclude preliminary testing, toxicity testing, and probit analysis. Toxicity testing of tofuindustrial wastewater showed the mortality rate of freshwater pomfret in treatmentconcentration. Treatment concentration 1,31% kill 20% of the fish, 1,72% kill 36,67%of the fish, 2,26% kill 53,33% of the fish, and 2,97 % kill 83,33% of the fish. Theresults showed that LC50 value for 96 hours of tofu industrial wastewater to thefreshwater pomfret is 20575,049 ppm (2,05%).Keywords : Freshwater Pomfret, Tofu Industry, LC50, Wastewater

Abstract

Utilization of the river as a waste water disposal is the impact of community activities that can cause environmental changes that would be bad for the life aquatic organisms. The changing quality of the waters is affecting the lives of organisms, including fish. The existence cencen fish (Mystacoleucus marginatus) in the waters is largely determined by the physical and chemical conditions of the waters. The aim of this research is to analyze the density of cencen fish and water quality. This research was on April-June 2015 in Sibiru-Biru river. Samples were taken from four observation stations and at each station observations performed 3 repetitions. In order to determination sample location is using “Purposive Sampling” and sample analyzed water quality. The result of research in Sibiru-Biru river have been found one class from ordo Cypriniformes is for about 92. The highest population fishes density Cencen fish with grade 0,45 individuals/m2. Meanwhile the lowest population fish density Cencen fish is about 0,08 individuals/m2. The water quality of Sibiru-Biru River was polluted category. Based on the relationship expressed heavy growth patterns of Cencen fish in Sibiru-Biru river growth months are negatively allometric, meaning that the growth of fish length cencen more dominant than the growth in weight.Key words : Density, Pollution Levels, and Growth.

Abstract

Organic materials are one of the environment fertility indicator both on land and sea. Ground’s organic matter content reflected the soil and waters quality to be a factor in an environment of waters quality. Kongsi swamp is an inundated inland waters which is used for fishing, farming, agricultural, and household waste disposal that impacted surroundings environment. This study aimed to assess the organic matter content and its relationship with the availability of nitrogen and phosphorus nutrients in Kongsi swamp. The study took place in February – April 2016. The method used to determine the location was purposive sampling which were divided into four stasions based on different activities. Analysis was conducted on substrate with three segments based on different depth include C organic, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, soil texture and pH, physical – chemical water analysis.The result showed that Kongsi swamp waters was in medium category with a total of nitrogen range from 0,05 to 0,56%, highest C organic was 3,9% and highest phosphorus was 27 ppm at the third stasion showed high organic matter content with a lot of Eceng Gondok. Using Pearson correlation analysis, accumulation of organic materials on the bottom waters sediment had a stronger relationship with the nitrogen availability which was very strong compared to the phosphorus availibility in each segment.Keywords : Kongsi Swamp, Organic Material, Nitrogen, Phosphorus Pearson Correlation Analysis

Abstract

Activitieson mangrove areas Bagan Deli Village, Medan Belawan district resulted inwater quality decrease, causing changes in ecological condition of the biota, especiallymacrozoobenthos. This research aims to determine the community structure of macrozoobenthosand water quality based on Abundance and Comparison (ABC) curve. This research was conductedin the mangrove area of the village of Bagan Deli Medan District Belawan from March until April2016. It was done by using purposive random sampling method on three stations. The samplingmacrozoobenthos and watter quality measurement was done and a half month. There were 13species of macrozoobenthoswhich found, namely Telescopium telescopium, Turritella terebra,Nassarius reeveanus, Cerithide acingulata, Chicoreus capucinus, Nerita lineata, Cerithidea obtusa,Littoraria melanostoma, Cassidula aurisfelis, Natica Tigrina, Uca vocans and Uca rosea. Thehighest density is worth 900 ind/dm2. Diversity index was ranged from 1,79 to 2,09 which is in highrated level. Uniformity index was ranged from 0,7 to 0,82 and dominance index was ranged from0,15 to 0,2. The conditional of mangrove area in Bagan Deli village is in the medium pollutedcategory based on the ABC curve.Keywords : ABC curve, Community Structure, Macrozoobenthos, Pollution Levels

Abstract

Lake Kelapa Gading is an artificial lake located in Kisaran Naga district, Asahan. Through the time, Lake Kelapa Gading has been used not only as a rain shelter, but also as a tourism place and floating fish cage. The purpose of this study was to determine the status of water quality of Lake Kelapa Gading. This research used Purposive Random Sampling method by selecting five activity-based-stations on Lake Kelapa Gading. Data were analyzed by using Storet Method and Pollution Index. Water sampling is done by using a modified Van Dorn Water Sampler. The measured parameters were Physics (temperature, TSS, Brightness and conductivity), Chemistry (DO, pH, BOD, COD, Nitrate and Phosphate) and Biology (total coliform). The result of water quality status using Storet Method, based on standard class II and III, scored -30 and -7 of each. The status of water quality using pollution index method, based on class II and III, scored 2.75 and 1.53 of each. Based on the Storet Method, the status of water quality of Lake Kelapa Gading was medium-polluted, while based on the pollution index, it was low-polluted.Keywords : Kisaran, Lake, Pollution, Water Quality.

Abstract

Ajibata is one of the tourist area in Lake Toba travelers who declined significantly in recent years.The objectives of this research are determining the effect of the presence of ferry ports and floating net cages to the carrying capacity of the Ajibata waterworks tourist area, knowing the environmental suitability as a tourist destination and knowing the perception of tourists to the carrying capacity of the waterworks environment. The research was conducted from April-May 2016 in Ajibata district which was divided into three (3) stations. The existence of ferry port and floating net cage aquaculture activities have an impact on tourism activities seen through the content of nitrate and phosphate on all respectively < 0.50 and 0.01. Ajibata tour area is still quite suitable as a tourist area with suitability index of 66.66%. Carrying capacity region with the area of 15.476 m2 which is 767 people/day. Tourist adequate attraction of Ajibata tour area seen from the perception of tourists that are 66.66% stated a slight smell, brown waters of 78.57%, 38.46% dissatisfied in touring, lack of tourist facilities 83.33%, 53.84% stated quite comfortable, the accessibility stated as quite easy as much as 66.66%, and 69.23% stated beautiful, so Ajibata is less attractive as the tourist destination to be visited.Keywords: Capability Areas, Tourist Attractions, Keramba Cage, Travel Suitability Index, Ferry Ports

Abstract

The research about Aquatic Primary Productivity needs to be done, it is because by knowing the value of primary productivity in the waters, will be known fertility waters. The research was done in May 2016. The aim of this research was to knowing the value of Primary Productivity of phytoplankton in Betimus River at Deli Serdang and to analyze its relationship with the physical and chemical factors. The sampling station was determinated by Purposive sampling method. Samples were collected from 3 sampling station. The result showed that of primary productivity range from 100,096-250,240 mg C/m3/day, the highest value was at station 3 and the lowest value was at station 1. Analysis of pearson correlation shows that the factors which have a very strong relationship with the primary productivity are DO, phosphate, nitrate, and the abundance of phytoplankton, factor which has a strong relationship with pimary productivity is temperature, and factor which has a moderate with pimary productivity is pH.Key Words: Primary Productivity, Purposive sampling method, Phytoplankton.
