Abstract

Abstract– This research aimed to improved parquet of coconut coir through improvement the esthetics of the parquet coconut coir with extendlaminate tekstur using substance of environment waste that assumed unused for society but have potency to be used like for example husk of bamboo bar, so that can produce parquet of coconut coir laminate withnatural tekstur.Method used for the process of coconut coir become the parquet laminate is beforehand by using cold press and hot press to produce result the parquet coconut coir, furthermoreproduce of raw material for the lamination tekstur that coming from waste of like bamboo bar which then will applied at parquet of coconut coir through press processing and draining with the system of warm-up infrared.This research aimed to design and construct the press and dryer machine to produce parquet laminate from coco fiber in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI 01-4449-2006). Researchers conducted a factorial experiment on the composition of the material forming the parquet laminate to have been a factor in the study of high density < 0.84 g/cm3 and medium density factor is 0.40g/cm3 to 0.84 g/cm3. Based on the test results of density, parquet laminate generated by the composition of 50% coco fiber with 50% adhesive and filler classified as High Density Fiberboard and parquet laminate with composition of 65% coco fiber with a 35% mixture of adhesive and filler classified as Medium density Fiberboard. Based on tests of water absorption and water content, parquet laminate with a composition of 35% coco fiber with 65% adhesive and filler or parquet with composition of 50 % coco fiber with 50 % adhesive and filler has been able to meet the requirement. Based on the thick expansion test, only parquet with code C3-IK6 and C3-IK9 qualified to the category of medium density fiberboard. Based on the tensile test perpendicular surface firmness, parquet printout for the composition 35 % coco fiber with 65 % adhesive and filler, and the composition of 50% coco fiber with 50% adhesive and filler has a surface perpendicular firmness pull more than 1.5 kgf/cm2 thus meeting the requirements. Based on the constancy test flexural fracture (MOR) and modulus of elasticity firmness (MOE), test of parquet in this research meet the requirements of SNI No. 01-4449-2006 to the category of medium density fiberboard Type 15. Abstract

Pre and postnatal care, intensify breast milk, menstruation, vaginal discharge, body odor, women fertility, cosmetics, cervical cancer, and breast cancer are some of problems faced by women in the society. This study aims to analyze the used of medicinal plants by traditional healers in Masbangun village, North Kayong Regency that potentially could overcome these problems. The research was conducted with interviewing traditional healers who were selected by snowball sampling techniques. Interviews results obtained as much as 24 species of medicinal plants used in traditional medication to overcome women health problems and cosmetics. Zingiberaceae plants family, plants habitus herbs and trees (33.33% and 33.33%), plants roots and rhizomes (20.83% and 20.83%), with boiled processing method (45.83) and drunk administration method (66.67%) were the highest percentage mentioned by the traditional healers in this study to overcome woman health problems.

Abstract

The study aims to analyze the utilization of medicinal plants of Dayak Iban in Kapuas Hulu Regency, West Kalimantan, especially its use to treat digestive system disorders. The methodology used were purposive sampling with semi-structured interviews. 100% of households of Tekalong and Bejabang sub-villages (Lanjak Besar village) and Tematu 1 and Tematu 3 sub-villages (Sepandan village) were selected as respondents. Data were analyzed through use value (UV), informant consensus factor (ICF) and fidelity level (FL) to obtain the utilization pattern of medicinal plants. A total of 21 species of medicinal plants are used by 60% of respondents to treat digestive system disorders. Plants with high UV are Allium cepa followed by Musa acuminata and Psidium guajava (0,53; 0,5, and 0,44, respectively). Plants with high ICF are used to treat gastric, thrush, laxative, defecation, and colds (1; 1; 1; 0.98; and 0.98, respectively). The plants with high FL (100) are Syzgium poliantum (diarrhea), Lansium domesticum (flatulence), Vitex pubescens (gastric), and Citrus amblycarpa (thrush), Durio zibethinus (sore tongue), Musa acuminata and Carica papaya (defecation), Piper nigrum, Cassia alata and Imperata cylindrica (stomachache), Alium cepa (cold), Mimosa pudica (toothache), Zingiber casumounar and Eleutherine bulbosa (hemorrhoids), Zingiber officinale and Kaempferia galanga (appetite enhancer), and Allium tuberosum (laxative). Zingiberaceae are highly plants family used by the respondents, and most of the plants are herbs (43%). Leaves and oral administration are mostly used by Dayak Iban to treat digestive system disorders.

Abstract

Tengkawang utilization activities assessed as having a positive impact on the community, especially for the people in District Embaloh Downstream Kapuas Hulu. This study aims to determine the value of the benefits of fruit, wood, and resin from trees tengkawang for the community, the level of income of the people who use tengkawang and factors affecting the value of harvesting tengkawang. The method used was a descriptive survey forms and interview techniques. Population and sample are degan method nomographs Harry King. The proportion of the sample stratified random manner ditentuka premises (SRS). The results of the study showed that the value of the benefits are as follows tengkawang fruits (94.84%), stem (5.12%), sap or resin (0.04%). The high percentage of the fruits are utilized, due to the intensity tengkawang abundant fruit, and the process is very simple processing by the community. The level of average income for people who use tengkawang Rp.23.856.238, -/Patriarch/Harvest. Keywords: Contribusions tengkawang (Shorea spp), Utilization, Collection.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the physical and mechanical properties of cement boards from sawing waste based on raw material composition and particle size, as well  to get the best sawing waste particle size and raw material composition according to JIS A5417-1992 standard. The research was carried out at the Wood Workshop Laboratory, Wood Technology Laboratory, Wood Processing Laboratory and PT Duta Pertiwi Nusantara Pontianak. This study uses a completely randomized factorial design (CRD) with two factors, namely factor A (Particle Size) and factor B (composition of cement). The results showed the average value of density ranged from 0.6878 to 0.8094 gr / cm3, moisture content value ranged from 6.7057 to 10.0246%, thickess swelling value ranged from 0.3996 to 0.8773%, water absorption value ranged from 27.8949 - 49.0375%, MOE ranged from 412.6563-1411.7847 kg / cm2 and MOR value ranged from 2.1529-4.5909 kg / cm2. The particle size that affects the physical properties is the value of water absorption, while the composition of the material that affects the physical properties is the density, water content, thickness development and water absorption capacity. The particle size and composition of the material which influence the mechanical properties, namely the value of the flexural firmness and fracture firmness. Based on the results of cement board testing with particle composition and cement (1:2) with particle size passing 10 mesh restrained 20 mesh yields the best physical properties of cement board that meet the standards of JIS A 5417: 1992, while none of the cement boards MOE and MOR meet the testing standards mechanical properties according to JIS A 5417: 1992.Keywords: Cement board, composition of cement, particle size, sawing waste

Abstract

The people of Landau Garong village have a direct relationship with plants in their traditional use (ethnobotany), especially bamboo. Bamboo in the village is very abundant so that many people use it in various needs according to their skills. The purpose of this study was to record and document the types used and find out patterns of utilization of bamboo by the community around the village forest Landau Garong Melawi district. The benefit of this research is to inform the community outside the Landau Garong village about the types of bamboo and their sustainable use patterns by the community around the Landau Garong village forest. This study uses a survey method with data collection techniques using the PRA method. Data obtained through observation and interviews. Data collected in the form of primary data and secondary data. Based on the results in the field, I obtained 6 types of bamboo, namely Gigantochloa hasskarliana, Bambusa vulgaris var.vulgaris, Schizostachyum brachycladum, Schizostachyum flexuosum, Gigantochloa balui dan Gigantochloa levis. There are 6 types of use of bamboo by the community, namely as building materials, craft materials (household crafts and fish trap crafts), food ingredients, traditional ritual materials, agricultural equipment materials, and traditional game materials. Abstract

Shifting cultivation is a form of traditional farming system that became the custom, tradition and culture of the farmers in West Kalimantan. The equipment used for this activity relies on axes and machetes. The area to be slashed and burned is two hectars in average per family of land forest. The purposes in this research are to know 1) The form of social network structures in individual level of shifting cultivators in maintaining the value of the local wisdom seen form the centrality within network. 2) the forms of local wisdom of the community in shifting cultivation. The research took place in Laek Sub-Village of Bengkilu village subdistrist, Tujuh Belas of Bengkayang Regency. The data was analysis by social analysis (SNA) with communication network among farmers. The code of network in this research is namely node. The respondents is head of household. The research show the network is like a form like wheel. The higest degree of centrality (ds) is 0,31 that node of 69 from respondents. This higest degree belonged to Pemangku Adat of Laek Hamlet. In this case He has strong links in giving some imfortant information about the rituals adat, prohibition, taboo and customary low (adat low) in slash and burn activity. While the weak degree of centrality is 0,01 with the node of 123 and 159. The weak links is belonged to head of customary sociaty in doing slash and burn or shifting cultivation activity are: (1) The adat rituals in shifting cultivation (2) The adat law. This adat low is as one jars (tempayan), one kampoong chicken. The weigh of chicken with one a high kilogram and also one kilogram yellow rice (tanung perbanyu), all this adat low where paid for the spirit of padi (Nok Naya). (3) sixteen stages of activity in shifting cultivation activity in Laek.Keywords: adat, communication, local wisdom, shifting cultivation, social network.

Abstract

The research objective was to determine the anti-fungal activity and the  effective concentration of essential oils from orange pericarp extract in inhibiting  Schizophyllum commune Fries growth.  Concentration of essential oils orange pericarp extracts used for the treatment were, 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, 8% and 10 %. The  toxicity testing method PDA medium mixed with the essential oils orange pericarp extract. Mean while at concentration 2% the anti fungal activity was catagorized as weak, at concentration  4% was medium, at concentration 6% and 8% was strong and at concentration 10% was very strong respectively. Result of the research showed that concentration 10% was the strongest anti fungal activity which inhibited the growth of S.commune at 78,39%. Concentration 10% of orange pericarp essential oil extract an optimum concentration to inhibited S.commune fungus growth. Abstract

Indonesia has 176 species of bamboo which constribute 16% of the world's bamboo species. 60% of bamboo grown in Indonesia is endemic bamboo. The purpose of this study was to record the diversity of bamboo species found in the Sarang Burung Kolam Village, Jawai District, Sambas Regency. The method used double plots laid out according to the presence of growing bamboo roaming with an observation plot area of 20 mx 20 m. Two different genera namely the genus Gigantochloa and Bambusa. Genus Bambusa consists of Bambusa vulgaris Schrad. Ex wendl, Bambusa vulgaris var. striata and Bambusa multiplex, Genus Gigantochloa consists of Gigantochloa balui and Gigantochloa atter). Type of bamboo that has the highest INP value is B. vulgaris Schrad. Ex wendl. (114.4599%,) the medium INP value is G. atter (55.4006%) and the lowest INP is B. vulgaris var.striata (3.2603%). Species Diversity Index in Desa Sarang Burung Kolam, Jawai District, Sambas Regency is relatively low.Keyword : Bamboo diversity, Sambas Regency, Sarang Burung Kolam Village

Abstract

Bamboo is one of the non-timber forest products (NTFP’s) used by the community to make handicrafts. Therefore, providing information to find out the variety and the utilization of bamboo is needed. This study aims to determine the variety and parts of bamboo that can be utilized. The study was conducted for 1 month, starting from June 26, 2017 to July 24, 2017. It was conducted in community-owned forest area of Perigi sub-village Semade village Banyuke Hulu sub-district Landak disctrict. The research was conducted by using descriptive method on community. Sampling was taken by using purposive sampling, specifically respondents who have wide knowledge towards local name of the bamboo, the benefits or the usefulness of bamboo and the high intensity of bamboo utilization. The total number of respondents are 20. The result of identification are 5 bamboo species namely Bambu Aur (Bambusa blumeana), Bamboo Betung (Dendrocalamus asper), Bamboo Buluh (Schizostachyum brachycladum), Bamboo Munti (Gigantochloa hasskarliana), Tamiang (Schizostachyum blumei Ness). The stages in bamboo utilzation process are: logging process, cutting process, cleaning process, drying process, weaving process. The products made by the community are: bakul, capin, nyiru, takin, and raga.Keywords: bamboo, community, Study of variety, utilization.
