Abstract

ABSTRAC Drying the nutmeg flesh with a thin layer method is carried out by using an experimental dryer. The objectives of this study were to study of drying air temperature and humidity on the drying of nutmeg flesh and to develop a mathematical model to estimates the drying curves. The experimental dryer is modified at Workshop of Agricultural Engineering study program University of Sam Ratulangi. The drying temperature is arranged at 60˚C. Simple method using an excel software is used in the analysis of raw data obtained from the drying experiment. The results showed the dryer air temperature in the dryer distribution and fluctuate in 52.1-62. 5˚C, while relative humidity ranges from 42-47%. It takes 3 hours to dry the nutmeg flesh until 12 – 14% moisture content. Mathematical model of the relation of water content and time is y = 1001.4e-0.023 with coefficient of determination (R²) = 0.9919. The mathematical model of drying rate versus time is y = 5.006e-0.016 with R² = 0.9662. While the mathematical model of drying rate versus moisture content is y = 1.5115e0.0036x with R² = 0.799. The models showed have a good in quality of the fit.Keywords: dry nutmeg, characteristics, drying model and thin layer

Abstract

ABSTRACT The main problem during corn storage is the attack of insects and fungi. Packaging is one way to overcome this problem. The purpose of this study was to determine the initial and final moisture content of vacuum-packed corn kernels, without vacuum packaging and without packaging, as well as to calculate damage to dried corn during storage. The research method was the experimental method of Completely Randomized Design (RAL) using three treatments: vacuum packaging, without vacuum packaging and without packaging. Then the material is stored for two months at room temperature. The results showed that the lowest damage percentage of corn seeds stored at an average room temperature of 27.7oC was obtained in a vacuum packaging treatment with insect damage rate of 6.31%, fungal damage of 8.96%, with an average moisture content average of 14.19%. Abstract

ABSTRACT Iseki PC4 Rice Transplanter is a rice paddy planting tool provided by the North Bolaang Mongondow district government assistance to farmers to help with the planting process so that it does not require a lot of human labor and can save on planting costs. However, until now the existing tools have not been used because farmers cannot operate them. For this reason, it is necessary to study the operation and performance of the tools so that farmers can use these tools and provide benefits. This study aims to determine the uniformity of seedling plugging, calculate field efficiency, and determine fuel consumption from the use of Iseki PC4 Rice Transplanter tools. The results of testing using Iseki PC4 Rice Transplanter obtained an average seed plugging uniformity of 86.73%, an average field efficiency of 78.58% and fuel consumption of 8.96 liters / ha. Abstract

ABSTRACT The drying of the nutmeg using a tent-type solar dryer has been carried out in order to determine the drying characteristics of the nutmeg flesh and to determine the drying efficiency. The results showed that the drying process of the material to reach a moisture content of 12-14% took 19 hours with the average solar radiation intensity on days 1, 2, and 3 being 429.06 W/m2, 446.16 W/m2, and 560.13 W/m2. This intensity resulted in temperature changes for the material temperature and room temperature of the dryer on days 1, 2 and 3 which ranged from respectively (38.5 oC and 32.88 oC), (41.5 oC and 32.88 oC), and (43.5 oC and 32.46 oC). The average humidity of the air inside and outside the dryer on days 1, 2, and 3 are (80.62% and 83.19%), (76.34% and 79.50%), and (81.19% and 81.41%). The drying rate of the nutmeg flesh for days 1, 2, and 3 varied with an initial moisture content of 85.26% (bb). The results of the calculation of drying efficiency on day 1, 2, and 3 were 28.09%, 9.03% and 2.33%, respectively. Key words: Drying characteristics, radiation intensity, drying efficiency.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The handling of Kepok bananas within inter-island transportation in Biaro, SITARO Regency is still traditionaly, therefore Kepok bananas suffer mechanical damage such as bruises, scratches, and broken wounds. Good handling steps are needed in the transportation process so that the product can arrive in the hands of consumers in good quality conditions. This study aims to determine a good packaging that is able to withstand pressure and friction during the transportation of Kepok banana fruit from Biaro to Manado. Research using the Experimental Method with Descriptive Analysis. The packaging consisting of  plastic sacks, cardboard packaging and wooden box packaging. Kepok bananas are packaged according to available packaging and transported by ship from Biaro Harbor to the Ferry Port in Munte then by land transportation to Manado. The results showed that the highest mechanical damage during transportation was found in Kepok bananas packed with plastic sacks at 41.84%, followed by Kepok bananas packed with cardboard with a damage value of 36.56%. Meanwhile, the lowest level of mechanical damage was in bananas packed with wooden boxes at 32.59%. Keywords: Postharvest Handling, Transportation, Packaging

Abstract

AbstractThe objective of this study is to determine the harvest loss in corn using the CombineHarvester Maxxi Corn Type-G. This research was conducted in Lopana Village, East AmurangDistrict, South Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi Province in January-July 2021. Harvestingwas conducted with the Combine Harvester Maxxi Corn Type-G on corn plants of the Pertiwivariety that were ready to harvest. This study used experimental methods. Data collection wasdone by observing directly on the corn harvested with the machine. The experiment conducted 3repetitions. The results of this study showed that the loss of spilled corn during harvestingamounted to 0.046% ±0.004%. Unharvested losses amounted to 0.363% ±0.054%. Losses due tolagging on the machine amounted to 0.965% ±0.124%. The total yield loss during the harvestingprocess using the Combine Harvester Maxxi Corn Type-G is 1.374% ±0.101%.Key words: losses, combine harvester, corn

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this study was to describe the Describing the condition and performance of thetool during harvesting using Combine Harvester and calculate capacity and field efficiency usingCombine Harvester. The results showed that the average condition and performance of the toolwith an average operating speed of 0.38 m/sec. The capacity of the results of the mapis 107.6 kgand for the total yield of 732.9 kg / ha. On average in this study the theoretical field capacity was0.277 ha/h, the effective field capacity was 0.147 ha/h and the field efficiency was 52.7%.Key words: corn, combine harvester, field capacity, the field efficiency

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study is to calculate what the total cost per hour at each nira arendistillery, and also to calculate the economic feasibility value of the distillation tool The benefitof this study is to provide information on the total cost per hour and economic feasibility ofoperating a distillation tool or distillery nira aren into bioethanol. The results of this studyresulted in a total cost of Rp. 69,721 / hour, and the results of the Break Even Point (BEP)calculation based on working hours of 1,456 / year were 6756.60 liters / year or equivalent toRp. 19,785,287 / year. Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this study was to describe the operating conditions and performance of the soybean thresher MPT001 type during the threshing process, determine the total losses in threshing process using soybean thresher machine MPT001 and determine the rendemen of soybean thresher machine type MPT001. The results showed that the average engine rotation per minute 639.24 RPM and the average thresher capacity was 33.19 kg/h (grain) at 17,8 % moisture content. The results also show that losses of soybean threshing are those unthreshed soybean seed at the output hole averaged (5.23 ± 0.26) % and the losses are those unthreshed soybean seed that escape the thresher at the rear with stove (2.51 ± 0.81) %. Total loss of threshing used MPT001 type soybean thresher machine is (7.74 ± 0.92) %. The yields of machine 18.18 %, 18.06 % and 18.93 % respectively with an average of 18.39 %.
