Abstract

The study explored safety practices in technical school shops. The area of the study was North-Eastern Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive survey research design and the population of the study comprises of 134 carpentry and joinery Teachers/Instructors, 97 workshop attendants and 783 Carpentry and Joinery Students from the 29 Technical Colleges thereby making a population size of 1014. The instrument used for data collection was a structured questionnaire on a five-point scale adapted from a previous study. The reliability coefficient of the instrument was 0.78. Mean was used to analyze the research questions. Findings from the study indicated that safety practices around Technical School shop environment, and the observation of safety practices by workshop personnel were to a moderately extents. It was recommended among others that School administrators should organize periodic reorientation programmes for carpentry and joinery workshop personnel to reeducate them on the need to strictly comply with all the safety standards guiding carpentry and joinery workshop operations.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the contributions of career guidance and parents support to the vocational high school students' work readiness. This research is survey. The sampling technique used a proportional random sampling method. The data collection used the questionnaire method to obtain career guidance data, support parents, and students’ work readiness. The data analysis included descriptive analysis, prerequisite analysis including normality test, linearity test, and multi-collinearity test, and multiple analysis with F-test, determination test, and partial correlation analysis. The results showed that (1) career guidance and parents’ support influenced positively and significantly to work readiness of vocational students, (2) career guidance influenced positively and significantly to work readiness of students in vocational school, and (3) the parental support influenced positively and significantly on work readiness of students in vocational high schools.

Abstract

The study is to determine the quality of workshop practice and media learning of light vehicle engineering in Vocational High Schools in terms of (1) the facilities and infrastructure of laboratory and (2) the use of instructional media practices of light vehicle engineering. The collection of data used the method of observation, documentation, interview. This type of qualitative research is a case study approach, involving five internship supervisor teachers and workshop managers. The results of the study showed that the practice of Automotive Engine Repair with spacious 84 m2, Automotive Chassis Repair with a spacious 72 m2, Automotive Electrical Repair with spacious 24 m2 had not yet met the standard minimum as suggested at the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation number 34 of 2018. The use of practical learning media was less effective because: (1) the comparison of study groups with the area of the workshop was not balanced, (2) the existence of some practicum subjects scheduled in the same day resulted in the students were practicing simultaneously at one time, and (3) the lack of practicum facilities.

Abstract

The study's objectives were to: determine the type of Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) motor that is right for an electric car drive system with a capacity of one passenger, and Knowing the capacity of the BLDC motor used as an electric car drive system with a capacity of one passenger. This research uses Research and Development (R&D) level 1. The research subjects taken are students and lecturers of Vocational Education, Automotive Technology and Electrical Engineering, Ahmad Dahlan University, totalling eight students four lecturers. Ahmad Dahlan University " AL-QORNI " electric car is planned to use an electric motor type Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) with a capacity of 2000 watts which works with a voltage of 49 volts - 96 volts.

Abstract

This study aims to determine what steps were taken by the Vocational High School (SMK) 1 Mojokerto in implementing Dual System Education / Internship which is a mandatory activity for high school students to improve students` insights and qualities and foster good relations between a vocational high school and a job provider company during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research is qualitative research that aims to describe the implementation of Dual System Education / Internship by Vocational high School 1 Mojokerto during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Effect of Pandemic Covid-19 into Internship Activity on apprenticeship: 1) During the pandemic, halt the internship process; internship operations can resume after the pandemic has passed. (2) Relocating student street vendors to businesses that follow government and corporation laws and require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). (3) Internships will be phased out in favor of online learning.

Abstract

School quality is inseparable from the role of teachers, supported by teacher well-being, competence, and commitment. For this reason, this research’s design is quantitative research, using ex-post-facto with a population of 456 teachers and 112 research samples. Instrument validation was performed through expert judgment and tested using the Rasch Model. Data were then collected through questionnaires distributed using a google form, and data analysis testing consisted of (1) instrument data analysis using the Rasch Model by testing person reliability, item reliability, and instrument bias testing; (2) the analysis of data results through prerequisite tests and hypothesis testing, utilizing multiple linear regression with SPSS. The results showcased that (1) there was a simultaneous positive and significant effect between teacher well-being, teacher competence, teacher commitment, and school quality of 0.000 <0.05. (2) There was a positive and significant effect of teacher well-being on school quality of 0.009 <0.05. (3) There was a positive and significant effect of teacher competence on school quality of 0.014 <0.05. (4) There was a positive and significant effect of teacher commitment on school quality of 0.000 <0.05. In addition, this study's findings imply that teacher competence and well-being had the most influence on school quality compared to teacher commitment. Second, 42.4% of school quality was influenced by the teacher's well-being, competence, and commitment. Based on these findings, increasing teacher commitment through strategic programs expected to improve schools' quality is necessary.

Abstract

The location of SD Muhammadiyah Kalangan is located in Baturetno Banguntapan Village, Bantul, located within the village and not located on the edge of the highway, so that the location is less strategic to get the attention of the community. Promotion of new student admissions at SD Muhammadiyah Kalangan every year is carried out conventionally and has not used digital marketing media. This condition makes it difficult for SD Muhammadiyah Kalangan to compete with elementary schools located near the location. Based on these conditions, a special strategy is needed so that SD Muhammadiyah Kalangan can be better known by the public in general. This community service aims to provide insight and training to schools on digital marketing as a means to increase the interest of new student registrants. The method used in this community service is by conducting Short Course Digital Marketing activities as well as assisting in the creation of digital marketing media by utilizing websites and social media. The Short Course will start on August 6-10, 2021, and will be attended by 10 participants, namely teachers and employees of SD Muhammadiyah Kalangan. Community service shows a good impact seen from the pre-test and post-test scores of the implementation of the Digital Marketing Short Course, namely there is an increase in understanding and skills about Digital Marketing to be used as a strategy to increase the interest of new student registrants and be able to compete with other schools in the environment in the digital age.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: mengetahui bagaimana peningkatan keaktifan siswa kelas XI pada mata pelajaran pemeliharaan chasis dan pemindah tenaga kendaran ringan melalui model Project Based Learning di SMK Pembaharuan Purworejo. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan kolaborasi antara peneliti, observer dan guru kelas dan melibatkan partisipasi siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kegiatan berupa 1) observasi, 2) tes unit kerja dan 3) dokumentasi. Prosedur penelitian meliputi tahapan perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model project based learning dapat meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa kelas XI TKRO SMK Pembaharuan Purworejo. Hal ini terbukti dengan meningkatnya presentase keaktifan belajar siswa pada siklus I sebesar 61,15%. Sedangkan pelaksanaan siklus II presentase keaktifan siswa menjadi 80,12% dengan kualifikasi kualitas presentase keaktifan belajar siswa “tinggi”. Penelitian ini dihentikan pada siklus II karena berdasarkan hasil penelitian pada siklus II, telah berhasil mencapai indikator keberhasilan yaitu minimal 76% pada presentase keaktifan belajar siswa sehingga tidak dilakukan tindakan siklus III.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and provide advice on the implemen-tation of online-based learning policies at 2 Muhammadiyah Junior High Schools in Yogyakarta City. The research method used is qualitative, which was conducted by observation, interviews, documentation, and data triangulation.  The result of the study is that the implementation of educational policies carried out by SMP Muhammadiyah is going well by preparing and carrying out the learning process by planning, organizing, and evaluating all activities carried out.  The Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia issued a Circular on the Implementation of Education Policy in the Emergency Period of the Spread of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) concerning the learning process from home which is carried out with the following provisions: (a) Learning from home provide a meaningful learning experience for students, without being burdened with completing the curriculum for grade promotion or graduation; (b) Learning from home can get education in life education; (c) activities and tasks according to their respective interests and conditions, including considering access/facilities for studying at home; (d) Evidence or products of learning activities from home are given qualitative and useful feedback from the teacher, without being required to provide a quantitative score/value.
