Abstract

This research examines four stories of Indonesian children "The Youngest Frog, Si Molek, Masarasenani and The Sun, and also Tiny Boy" by Murti Bunanta. These children's stories come from different region in Indonesia but have similarities and differences in each story. This descriptive analysis uses a stylistic approach that emphasizes the unity of story construction with the theme presented. Elements that are considered and checked are diction, style, and imagery. The result showed is the dominant diction can be seen in denotation with 49 data or 53.85 percentage. The dominant language style can be seen in asidenton language with 16 data or 25.8 percentage. The dominant or multiple images can be seen in visual images with 27 data or 36.99 percentage.

Abstract

Javanese pitutur luhur is an honorable thought as the inheritance from Javanese ancestors in which it is bequeathed from generation to generation. Pitutur luhur is led as guidance for Javanese societies throughout their life. It contains the ancestors’ thoughts about some aspects of life since every human being (including Javanese people) has guidance for life. As religious people, for Muslim societies, it is a must to bring Qur’an and hadith into their guidance of life. This study discusses the relevance between Javanese Pitutur luhur and Islamic religiosity based on Qur’an and hadith. The result of this study shows that there is harmony and relevance between Javanese Pitutur luhur and Islam religiosity as explained in Qur’an and Hadith. To sum up, both of them can be equal to the guidance of life, and to provide directions in the middle of deculturation, dereligiosity, paganism, and secularism towards religious and cultural values.

Abstract

AbstractThis research analysed the utterance used in Ludruk, a traditional art originated from East Java. The utterance were used in accordance with the story performed by the artists. This article describes the category of illocution, function, and the purpose of the illocution in the Ludruk Joko Sambang Pendekar Gunung Gangsir showed in Kediri on 2017 by a group of East Java Ludruk artists. The research is descriptive qualitative identifying the illocution speech acts in the Ludruk. Research data are the containing speech act in the Ludruk artists’ dialogue. Data analysis technique is conducted systematically as follows: (1) Transcribing the utterance and translating the Java language into Indonesia language, (2) Categorizing the data, included the illocution utterance, (3) Analyzing data, how the context, function and its purpose. It is found four utterances categories, namely: (1) Assertive category of complaining, suggesting, fulminating, stating, and revealing mode; (2) Expressive category of giving advice, and requesting; (3) Commissive mode category of offering and promising; (4) Expressive mode category of thanking and fulminating. The declarative category is not found in the Ludruk show utterance.  Based on the classification of realization is also found that each utterance has a function to persuade the hearer to do something based on context.Keywords/phrases: pragmatics, illocution speech act, ludrukTINDAK TUTUR ILOKUSI PADA PEMENTASAN LUDRUK JOKO SAMBANG PENDEKAR GUNUNG GANGSIRAbstrakPenelitian ini menganalisa ujaran yang digunakan dalam Ludruk, kesenian tradisional yang berasal dari Jawa Timur. Tuturan digunakan sesuai dengan konteks cerita yang dimainkan oleh para pemeran. Artikel ini mendeskripsikan kategori tuturan ilokusi, fungsi, dan maksud dari ilokusi pada pementasan Ludruk lakon  Joko Sambang Pendekar Gunung Gangsir yang dipentaskan di Kediri tahun 2017 oleh kumpulan seniman ludruk Jawa Timur.Penelitian ini termasuk dalam penelitian deskriptif kulitatif dengan objek penelitian tindak tutur ilokusi yang dituturkan oleh pemain ludruk. Data penelitian berupa ujaran yang terdapat pada dialog pemain ludruk yang mengandung tindak tutur ilokusi. Teknik analisis data dilakukan secara terstruktur, yaitu dengan langkah sebagai berikut: (1) mentraskripsi data dan menerjemahkan ujaran dari bahasa Jawa ke dalam bahasa Indonesia, (2) mengelompokan data yang telah diperoleh, termasuk pada kategori  tuturan ilokusi, (3) menganalisis tiap kategori data yang telah terkumpul, bagaimana konteks, maksud dan fungsinya. Ditemukan empat  kategori tuturan, yakni: (1) Kategori asertif dengan modus mengeluh, mengusulkan, mengecam, menyatakan, mengungkapkan; (2) Kategori ekspresif  dengan modus menasihati, dan memerintah; (3) Kategori komisif modus yang muncul menawarkan, menjanjikan; (4) Kategori ekspresif modus yang muncul  terima kasih dan mengecam. Kategori deklaratif tidak ditemukan pada tuturan pementasan ludruk tersebut. Berdasarkan klasifikasi mengenai relisasijuga ditemukan bahwa setiap tuturan tersebut memiliki fungsi untuk mempengaruhi mitra tutur untuk melakukan tindakan sesuatu yang sesuai dengan konteksnya.Kata Kunci/frase: pragmatik, tindak tutur ilokusi, ludruk

Abstract

The study aims to describe the existence of tadut and andai-andai in South Bengkulu society. The research problem discussed is how the existence of tadut and andai-andai in South Bengkulu society. This research conducts phenomenology appoarch with qualitatively descriptive method. The results of this research showed that tadut and andai-andai in South Bengkulu began to be abandoned by the people around there. This is indicated with rarely performances of the folklores and the young generation prefers to western culture than them. The capable efforts to preserve the two folklores are the synergy between the community of people and the government in making inheritance a more interesting, for example by making it in the form of audio visuals, establishing customary institutions in each village, documenting the two folklores, holding their competencies, and including them into the school curriculum.

Abstract

The benefits of studying history, in addition to remembering the past, are also valuable lessons for future generations. Through history, the younger generation knows the cultural treasures of the nation so that they can preserve them. One of the original arts belonging to West Kalimantan is the traditional theater mendu. This theater was successful at the beginning of its emergence (1876 AD) until the Japanese colonial era. After that it was dim because society was forbidden by Japan to gather and associate. Mendu was bloated again and became the belle of the 80's which was driven by the maestro Sataruddin Ramli (1948 - 2015). However, this particular art of West Kalimantan is now only a memory. This research aims to describe the golden age of West Kalimantan's traditional theater. The method used is descriptive qualitative form with a literature study approach. The results of the study describe (1) the glory period from the beginning of the emergence of the mendu to the Japanese occupation (1876 - 1942), (2) the traditional theater of the mendu became the belle of the community (1980s - 2000s). Factors that cause the mendu golden period include because in the past the world of entertainment was not yet sophisticated and modern, the characteristics of the traditional and simple community, the story that was served favored by the community at that time, the participation of the Regional Government of West Kalimantan, as well as coaching was held for the younger generation.

Abstract

Nama Jawa adalah bentuk ucapan yang memiliki bentuk, struktur, dan makna yang menarik. Nama Jawa modern memiliki beragam bentuk dan makna. Berdasarkan data yang dianalisis, tampak jelas bahwa kecenderungan nama modern disusun dari lebih dari satu unsur dari nama tersebut. Namun, masih dapat ditemukan juga nama-nama tunggal, nama yang hanya terdiri dari satu elemen tunggal. Kasus ini sangat menarik untuk dilihat dan dipelajari lebih dalam, terutama yang berkaitan dengan konstruksi (komposisi) penamaan Jawa. Pemahaman proses konstruksi dari nama Jawa sangat penting untuk mengetahui selera budaya, keinginan, harapan, dan cita-cita masyarakat yang terus berubah dari waktu ke waktu.

Abstract

Hand lettering merupakan seni menggambar huruf dengan teknik manual, menggunakan peralatan seperti kuas, kapur, pen, alat pahat, dan lain-lain. Di era digital karya hand lettering menjadi popular. Pembahasan mengenai hal tersebut tidak hanya berhenti pada persoalan perwujudan estetis sebuah karya seni tetapi juga pada ranah kehidupan masyarakatnya yaitu kehidupan sosial, ekonomi, dan budaya di era digital saat ini. Komunitas berperan penting dalam mengembangkan hand lettering karena memiliki kekuatan untuk mempengaruhi lingkungannya. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menyajikan penelitian peran dan fungsi komunitas seni dalam mempengaruhi masyarakat untuk berkarya seni tradisional dan mengembangkan hand lettering menjadi industri kreatif. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan analisis data diskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komunitas berperan penting dalam penegembangan hand lettering di era digitaldengan memaksimalkan fungsi komunitas yaitu 1) sebagai komunikator untuk mentransfer nilai, ide, dan pengetahuan mengenai hand lettering kepada anggota dan masyarakat pendukungnya 2) sebagai sarana melakukan pendekatan secara emosional kepada masyarakat untuk mensosialisasikan seni hand lettering sehingga dapat mempengaruhi kebutuhan estetis dan perilaku masyarakat pendukungnya 3) sebagai wadah dan ruang untuk mengaktualisasikan diri dalam berkarya seni hand lettering.

Abstract

This article want to describe and explain about the meaning of wanda wayang Durga gagrag Surakarta on Javanese culture perspective. Wanda wayang Durga which explain in this article consist of the Durga wanda belis, wanda gedrug, wanda gidrah, wanda murgan, wanda surak, and wanda wewe. The approach which used on this research is structuralism-semiotic approach from Levi-Strauss model. This approach is chosen because it is considered can explain the object deeper from two side that are outside structure or surface-structure and inside structure or deep- structure. Material object of this research is the figure of Durga from many kind of wanda. Formal object of this research is structural analysis. Primary data on in this research is document wanda wayang of Durga figure. Therefore, the secondary data are interview document and literature review. Analysis data technique on this research consist on four phases, that are data collected phase, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing.Artikel ini mengupas makna dari wanda wayang Durga gagrag Surakarta dalam perspektif cerita pewayanganSudamala dan kebudayaan Jawa. Pedekatan yang digunakan adalah pendekatan strukturalisme semiotik model Levi Strauss yang menjelaskan suatu objek kajian secara struktural melalui dari dua sisi yaitu struktur luar yang dikenal dengan istilah surface structure dan struktur dalam   yang dikenal dengan istilah deep structure. Objek material dari penelitian ini adalah sosok Durga yang terdapat dalam berbagai macam wanda tersebut diatas. Objek formal penelitian ini adalah sebuah kajian struktural. Data dalam penelitian ini terdiri atas dua jenis data yakni data primer dan data sekunder. Data primer dalam penelitian ini adalah dokumen wanda wayang tokoh Durga, sedangkan data sekundernya adalah wawancara dan studi pustaka. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini meliputi empat tahap, yakni tahap pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan simpulan. Temuan yang terdapat dalam penelitian ini diantaranya adalah berbagai macam wanda wayang tokoh Durga dalam pewayangan gaya Surakarta yang diantaranya adalah Durga wanda belis, wanda gedrug, wanda gidrah, wanda murgan, wanda surak, wanda reca, wanda ngerik, wanda ratudan wanda wewe.
