Abstract

Estuaries or also known as ustuaria is the area of water bodies into a meeting between one or more rivers in coastal areas with marine areas. Juata Laut waters located in the northern part of Tarakan Island. These waters are a small part of the estuarine waters in this region, which connects the river Sesayap which is one of the major rivers located in the northern coastal region of North Kalimantan with the surrounding sea area. The purpose of this study was to determine the type and level comparison fishes diversity found in mangrove waters and traditional farms around the waters of Juata Laut Tarakan City North Kalimantan province. Types of fish found in the waters of the Sea of mangrove Juata as many as 23 types, while in pond waters around 19 species. Level of biodiversity of fish in mangrove waters and traditional farms around the waters of the Sea Juata classified in the spring rate which means it has a lower level of community stability. Keywords : Comparation, diversity, fishes.

Abstract

Brackish water pond is one of human making ecosystem.  Commonly, It’s use for fisheries production especially  shrimp or fishes purporting. In Coastal of North Kalimantan, to running its have been used traditional system.  This system is depending to the natural condition. The good water quality  is one important thing for supporting life in the waters column and management system. This study for management life organisms in pond we must know about water quality in every day for turn of the risk. Daily and weekly observations on water quality in the pond water obtained under unfavorable conditions. This is indicated by dissolved oxygen conditions which tended lower than normal organisms as well as an increase in the content of ammonia in the course of shrimp farming. To further efforts should be made to the improvement of water quality conducted from land preparation.

Abstract

The availability of natural food in the waters affected by internal condition that isnutrient content. With sufficient nutrients will be able to support the growth ofphytoplankton which in turn form the food chain as part of the ecological chain events in it. Brackish water pond is one of human making ecosystem. Commonly, It’s use for fisheries production especially shrimp or fishes purporting. In Coastal of North Kalimantan, to running its have been used traditional system. This system is depending to the natural condition. The Available of nutrients and plankton condition are important thing for supporting life in the waters column and for management system brackish water pond. Thus, changes in the content of nutrients and plankton in the environment and in the brackish water pond becomes very necessary to be known. This study aims to determine the condition of nutrient content and plankton in the pond waters environtment. Nitrate concentrations in the pond water was found ranged from 0.0004 to 0.309 ppm, while in the waters of the river / outlets ranging from 0.012 to 0.243 ppm. The phosphate concentration in the pond water obtained in this study ranged from 0.001 to 0.741 ppm, while in the waters of the river ranges from 0019 to 0.067 ppm. In generally, nutrient concentration range obtained is still support for the life of plankton in the brackish water pond.Key words: nutrients, nitrat, fosfat, plankton, brackish water ponds.

Abstract

Gastropods are mollusk  animals, generally live on the surface of the substrate of mud and there is attached to the leaves and roots of mangrove which are also in the Mangrove Conservation Area and Bekantan (KKMB) Kota Tarakan. These organisms contribute greatly to the organic detritus that is very important as a food source for organisms that live in the surrounding waters. The purpose of this study to determine the structure of gastropods community include diversity index, dominance index, and the index of uniformity in the Mangrove Conservation Area and Bekantan (KKMB).The method used in this research is the method dekskriptif with survey techniques to determine the research station on the terms of the condition of mangrove. From theresearch, was found 25 species of gastropods associated mangrove forest KKMB Tarakan City. At the first station, the species gastrophod withthe highest abundanceis Neritina violaceaand the lowestisNeritalineta. At station 2, the type gastrophoda with the highest abundance is Shaerassiminea miniata and the lowest is Nerita lineta. The index valueof diversity at each station ranged between 2.72 and 2.92. With this value range indicates that the abundance gastrophoda in KKMB is medium category. Uniformity index value at each station of 0.91 and 0.92, which means the number of individuals spread evenly or no dominatingre inforced with dominance index value at each station 0.07 and 0.08 (close to zero).Key Words : Mangrove, Gastropod dan Community Structure.
