Abstract

Listening comprehension should emphasize the process, students focus during learning to build their knowledge through a series of speakers so that learning becomes meaningful to students. Listening skills can be classified into two parts, basic skills and integrated skills. In principle, basic skills and integrated skills have in common in terms of formulating problems, collecting data and proposing problem solving solutions. Metacognitive refers to higher-order thinking that involves active control in the cognitive process of learning in solving a problem. Activities such as analyzing English speakers, increasing understanding, and evaluating listening comprehension are natural metacognitive. Metacognitive is the ability to think in which the object of thinking is the thought process that occurs in yourself. In the context of learning, students know how to learn, know their abilities and learning modalities, and know the best learning strategies for effective learning. Metacognitive as a form of ability to look at oneself so that what he does can be controlled optimally. Students with metacognitive knowledge are aware of the advantages and limitations of learning. This means that when students know their mistakes, they realize to admit that they are wrong, and try to correct it. For this reason, pre-service teachers need to try to train students to have metacognitive abilities and bring them up so that they can ultimately improve their listening comprehension. Before that, it is necessary to know how pre-service teachers 'perceptions of metacognitive strategies are to improve students' abilities in lisetening comperhension. This article will focus on the understanding and perceptions of pre-service teachers of metacognitive strategies. This study will examine seven respondents from 5k semester students of English Language Education Program at Universitas Ibn Khaldun. Research conducted using quantitative and qualitative, by giving questionnaires and conducting interviews which then proceed to the analysis of the data. The results are intended that the majority of pre-service teachers still do not fully understand metacognitive strategies.

Namun, satu hal yang menjadi perhatian besar adalah penyakit rata-rata penduduk yaitu penduduk menderita penyakit jantung. Penyebaran pendidikan terbilang baik.

Abstract

Changes in Curriculum lead to changes in teaching and learning processes as well as new ways to demonstrate best practices for increasing students’ achievement. The Curriculum 2013 suggests teachers to use authentic materials and requires them to apply authentic assessments. It is quite challenging for English teachers because this condition creates problems especially for novice teachers. Therefore, they need to have prior knowledge and personal experience related to teaching practice and situation. In this study, authentic materials and authentic assessments were implemented in pre-service-English-teacher classroom at a university in Bogor, specifically in listening class, in order to familiarize them to the kind of materials and assessments. Action research was employed where documentation, observation, questionnaire, and interview were used to collect the data. The result shows that the integration of authentic materials and authentic assessment in EFL classroom helped the students in understanding the nature and the use of authentic materials and authentic assessment for their future needs of profession.

Abstract

This research is focused on promoting students’ critical thinking skills through project-based learning. Thus, this study aims at (1) examining the idea of critical thinking, (2) discussing ways of improving critical thinking learners and (3) measuring learners' capacity of critical thinking using project-based learning approaches. This method of study is non-empirical by taking a qualitative approach to students' analytical thought and project-based learning perspectives. By incorporating this project-based learning, students can improve innovation and exercise criticism. By doing this study, we encourage other scholars to carry out research by means of project-based methods of learning. Highlights:• Suspension of judgment is a situation when someone is rationally able to suspend their judgment in taking a conclusion about something. The suspension of judgments on subjects, objects, ideas, or whatever you wish to study is one of the most critical tasks.• Open-mindedness is a virtue of intellectual nature with characteristic goals, including increasing or improving the cognitive interaction with reality. It involves specialized cognitive skills, including those involved in making information comprehensible to themselves and auxiliary habits, thus cognitive skills are truly engaged if necessary.• Critical thinkers will motivate themselves to make solving the problem simpler for themselves.
