Abstract

The depletion of global crude oil reserves and pollution have prompted research into alcohol as a fuel for gasoline motors focused on clean, renewable and sustainable energy systems. The purpose of the research is to get the best performance and exhaust emissions. This research uses Pertamax (E0) as standard fuel and mixed with ethanol to produce E70 bioethanol fuel. Tests using a waterbrake dynamometer at fully open throttle with engine speed from 2000 to 8000 rpm and increasing the standard compression ratio to a compression ratio of 12, 12.5, and 13. The results showed that the E70 increased torque and reduced exhaust emissions. Penipisan cadangan minyak mentah global dan polusi telah mendorong penelitian alkohol sebagai bahan bakar untuk motor bensin yang difokuskan pada sistem energi yang bersih, terbarukan dan berkelanjutan. Tujuan dari penelitian untuk mendapatkan Performa dan emisi gas buang terbaik. Penelitian ini menggunakan bahan bakar Pertamax (E0) sebagai bahan bakar standar dan dicampur dengan etanol untuk menghasilkan bahan bakar bioetanol E70. Pengujian menggunakan waterbrake dynamometer pada kondisi fully open throttle dengan putaran mesin dari 2000 sampai 8000 rpm dan meningkatkan rasio kompresi standar menjadi rasio kompresi 12, 12,5, dan 13. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa E70 meningkatkan torsi dan menurunkan emisi gas buang.

Abstract

The production of coconut and durian means that it will produce a lot of waste from its shell. Indonesia is a country that produces a lot of them. The coconut shell (CS) and durian fruit peel (DFP) can be converted to briquette as new fuel from biomass.  The objective of this research is to obtain the calorific briquette properties of CS and DFP using Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC).  The material composition consist of 10 % and 15 % of starch for each CS and DFP. Thermal treatment was carried out in the temperature range of 28 °C to 600 °C at 5.4 °C/min. The addition of starch causes the heating temperature since it has thermoplastic properties. Additionally, it is difficult to burn and carries a lot of water so that the heat generated is used to evaporate the water first of all in the briquettes. The recommended material is CS with 10 % mass of starch. The optimum temperature reached was 578.97 °C with an enthalpy value of 0.42 J/g.

Abstract

Innovations related to fluidization systems using fluidized bed reactor are still needed to be developed in order to improve the fluidization process services for particle in order to produce the right fluid pressure in certain fluidized bed spaces that are currently operating. In this research, the pressurized fluid in question is air sourced from a compressor which has been arranged in such a way. The aim of the research is to obtain information regarding the characteristics of bubble resulting from the air pressure process pressing fluidized system particle. The research method was carried out by experimenting with testing fluidized bed reactor as test model in the form 8 hole, providing air pressure from compressor then observing the characteristics visually. The results of this visually documented research have been carried out and obtained. By using the number of hole 8 with height silica sand inserted to height of 25 cm, which is measured from the beginning of the hole plate before pressure is applied. After being given high pressure the bed increased to 27.6 cm, the highest bubble diameter was obtained at the input air pressure of 8 bar, which was 3.9 cm, with bed silica sand produced 26.1 cm, where the babble condition began to appear after the 9th second. Other characteristics also obtained reactor temperature of 25.45 °C where this condition is the smallest when compared to other pressure input results, this is because the small input pressure causes the temperature to be low, while the large pressure input temperature becomes higher due to many factor, including friction between silica sand, silica sand collisions, and faster movement of particle material.

Abstract

KJJ merupakan industri rumahan yang memproduksi kerupuk jangek berbahan kulit sapi. Proses produksi kerupuk sering terganggu jika musim penghujan datang dikarenakan proses pengeringan sangat bergantung pada panas matahari. Pemasaran produk sangat konvensional dengan memajang produk di depan rumah. Kemasan produk tidak dilengkapi logo dan terkesan tidak menarik. Kegiatan PKM ini bertujuan membantu memecahkan permasalahan dan memberikan solusi dibidang produksi dan pemasaran. Tahapan pelaksanaan PKM meliputi pra-persiapan, persiapan, pelaksanaan, evaluasi dan monitoring. Pemberian materi pelatihan, dan pendampingan TTG mesin pengering hybrid kulit sapi dan strategi pemasaran diberikan ke mitra. Hasil pengabdian menunjukan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan tentang teknologi pengering sistem hybrid dan perbaikan kemasan produk dapat meningkatkan kuantitas, kualitas produk dan pendapatan.

Abstract

Tingginya limbah sampah plastik merupakan permasalahan global yang berdampak negatip terhadap lingkungan sehingga perlu cara penanggulangan yang effective dan effisien. Kegiatan PKM bertujuan mengembangkan dan mengoptimalkan pengolahan limbah plastik menjadi produk yang bernilai ekonomis tinggi serta mengurangi dampak negatip limbah plastik ke lingkungan. PKM dilaksanakan di mitra pegepul limbah plastik yang berlokasi di daerah Medan Johor. Metode PKM meliputi: sosialisasi program PKM, implementasi mesin pencacah plastik tipe crusher berkapasitas 250 kg/jam, pelatihan pengoperasian/perawatan mesin pencacah palstik dan manajemen keuangan, serta evaluasi dan monitoring. Hasil kegiatan PKM berdampak dengan meningkatnya kapasitas produksi dan nilai jual sampah plastik. Dengan dilakukannya kegiatan ini akan menambah pengetahuan masyarakat dari pelatihan yang telah diberikan. Selain itu, dapat dipraktekkan oleh masyarakat sampah plastik di wilayah kota Medan.
