Abstract

ANALYSIS OF STUDENT SCIENCE PROCESS SKILLS THROUGH ECOLOGICAL PRACTICUMS AbstractThe study aims to analyze students' science process skills in ecology practical activities. The research subjects were 37 students. Data is collected through performance appraisals. The results showed that the science process skills of students were of high category. The score of observing activity skills was 11.49, formulating a problem of 10.59, identifying variables by 10.81, and making conclusions of 10.02. The skills scores for formulating hypotheses are high (10.47), but low in defining aspects of operational variables (6.19), designing experiments (6.53), and analyzing data/information (6.64). Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the ecology practicum activities that have been carried out can improve the science process skills of prospective teacher students in the aspects of observing, formulating problem formulations, identifying variables, and compiling inferences. Based on these findings, several recommendations are stated, first; Science process skills (SPS) must be taught continuously to biology majors because they are a major part of the education curriculum. Also, it must focus more on integrated skills. Second, pay attention to low SPS student teacher candidates' still exists, so it needs to be trained intensively in the low SPS because the SPS (defining operational variables, designing experiments, and analyzing data) is an SPS that is closely related to knowledge formation and problem solving. AbstrakPenelitian bertujuan menganalisis keterampilan proses sains mahasiswa pada kegiatan praktikum ekologi. Subjek penelitian 37 orang mahasiswa. Data dikumpulkan melalui penilaian kinerja. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan proses sains mahasiswa berkategori tinggi. skor keterampilan aktivitas mengamati sebesar 11,49, merumuskan masalah sebesar 10,59, mengidentifikasi variabel sebesar 10,81, dan membuat kesimpulan sebesar 10,02. Skor keterampilan untuk merumuskan hipotesis berkategori tinggi (10,47), tetapi rendah pada aspek mendefinisikan operasional variabel (6.19), mendesain eksperimen (6.53), dan menganalisis data/informasi (6.64). Berdasarkan temuan ini dapat disimpulkan kegiatan praktikum ekologi yang telah dilaksanakan dapat meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains mahasiswa calon guru pada aspek mengamati, menyusun rumusan masalah, mengidentifikasi variabel, dan menyusun inferensi. Selain itu juga, berdasarkan temuan ini dapat dinyatakan beberapa rekomendasi, pertama; keterampilan proses sains harus diajarkan secara terus-menerus untuk para guru jurusan biologi karena itu adalah bagian utama dari kurikulum pendidikan. Selain itu, harus lebih fokus pada keterampilan terintegrasi. Kedua; memperhatikan masih adanya KPS mahasiswa calon guru yang rendah, sehingga perlu dilatihkan secara intensif pada KPS yang rendah tersebut, karena KPS tersebut (mendefinisikan operasional variabel, mendesain eksperimen, dan menganalisis data), karena KPS tersebut merupakan KPS yang berkaitan erat dengan pembentukan pengetahuan dan penyelesaian masalah.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPermasalahan utama yang dihadapi guru MIPA di MAN 3 Lombok Tengah adalah kurang memahami bagaimana merancang dan menyusun perangkat pembelajaran (silabus, RPP, dan alat evaluasi) untuk melatihkan kesadaran metakognisi siswa. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan secara instensif perancangan dan penyusunan perangkat pembelajaran yang terdiri dari silabus, RPP, dan alat evalusi kesadaran metakognisi bagi guru MIPA di MAN 3 Lombok Tengah. Metode pelatihan yang digunakan dalam kegiatan tersebut dilakukan dengan serangkaian kegiatan IST (in service training) dan OST (on service training) serta implementasi untuk memastikan perangkat yang disusun dapat melatihkan kesadaran metakognisi siswa. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa (1) pelatihan guru dalam menyusun perangkat pembelajaran melalui metode IST dapat meningkatkan kemampuan guru dalam menganalisis perangkat pembelajaran, memahami penyusunan perangkat pembelajaran, dan memahami model-model pembelajaran yang melatihkan kesadaran metakognisi dengan baik; dan (2) pelatihan guru dalam menyusun perangkat pembelajaran yang membelajarkan kesadaran metakognisi siswa melalui metode OST dapat meningkatkan kemampuan guru dalam menyusun dan melaksanakan perangkat (silabus, dan RPP), merancang dan menyusun alat evaluasi, mengevaluasi hasil belajar siswa, dan mengevaluasi proses dan hasil belajar siswa dengan baik. Kata kunci: Perangkat pembelajaaran; metakognisi; kesadaran metakognisi. ABSTRACTThe main problem faced by Mathematics and Natural Sciences teachers in MAN 3 Central Lombok is not understanding how to design and compile learning tools (syllabus, lesson plans, and evaluation tools) to train students' metacognitive. This community service activity aims to provide intensive training on the design and preparation of learning tools consisting of a syllabus, lesson plans, and metacognition awareness evaluation tools for Mathematics and Natural Sciences teachers in MAN 3, Central Lombok. The training method used in these activities is carried out with a series of IST (in service training) and OST (on service training) activities as well as implementation to ensure that the devices arranged can train students' metacognitive awareness. The results of the activity show that (1) teacher training in arranging learning tools through the IST method can improve the teacher's ability to analyze learning tools, understand the preparation of learning tools, and understand learning models that train metacognitive awareness well; and (2) teacher training in compiling learning tools that teach students 'metacognitive awareness through the OST method can improve teachers' abilities in compiling and implementing tools (syllabus and lesson plans), designing and compiling evaluation tools, evaluating student learning outcomes, and evaluating processes and outcomes. students learn well. Keywords: Learning Media; metacognition; metacognitive awareness.

Abstract

[Title: The Conceptual Profile of Prospective Biology Teacher FPMIPA IKIP Mataram]. The conceptual profile is a tool for analyzing the style or process of thinking, so the profile of understanding concepts is very important to study as a basis for designing and improving the quality of learning. This research is a descriptive study that aims to identify and explain the conceptual profile of prospective biology teacher FPMIPA IKIP Mataram. The subjects in this study included all biology students who regularly program evolutionary courses. The open-ended question is designed to collect conceptual profile data on the evolutionary biology students from FPMIPA IKIP Mataram. Identification or determination of conceptual profile is based on student responses or answers. Based on the results of the research and the limitations of the discussion, it is recommended that the development of textbooks that are free of misconception as a learning resource for valid biology prospective teacher, then lecturers as instructors, continue to study and teach about attitude, namely scientific attitudes, or thinking dispositions, and/or integrating attitudes in the lecture process. Besides that, in the lecture or learning process, the lecturer must facilitate or empower the style or process of thinking of students with various learning methods or strategies that emphasize thinking processes, including formal reasoning, and analogical teaching strategy.

Abstract

[Title: Improving Student Cognitive Learning Outcomes using Cooperative Learning Model Type Group Investigation]. The purpose of this study was to improve student cognitive learning outcomes using the Cooperative Learning Model Type Group Investigation in class X MIA 2 students of SMAS NW Mataram in the 2018/2019 academic year. The subjects of this study were 15 students of class X MIA 2. This research is a classroom action research (CAR) consisting of two cycles. Observation sheet of learning implementation is used for each meeting to find out the implementation of learning steps according to the learning implementation plan observed by 2 observers. Test instruments of 20 multiple choice questions and 5 description questions were used in this study to find out the improvement of students' cognitive learning outcomes in each cycle. The results showed the implementation of learning in the cycle I (1) the first meeting reached 63.63% with a good category and the second meeting reached 88.8% with a very good category, (2) the cognitive learning outcomes of students in cycle 1 obtained an average value 59 with the classical completeness value achieved 46% of the incomplete category, while in cycle II (3) the first meeting of the implementation of learning reached 72.72% with a good category (4) the second meeting reached 94.44% with a very good category, and for results cognitive learning students obtained an average value of 72 with a classical completeness value achieved 76%. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the Cooperative Learning Model Type Group Investigation can improve cognitive learning outcomes of class X MIA 2 students of SMAS NW Mataram in the 2018/2019 academic year.

Abstract

Tujuan kegitan PkM adalah memberdayakan warga rukun tetangga 06 Lingkar Permai dalam pengolahan sampah organik dengan komposer sederhana untuk mewujudkan NTB zero waste. Kegitan ini bermitra dengan Warga RT 06 Lingkar permai yang melibatkan 10 orang.  Kegiatan PkM ini dilaksanakan dengan metode pendekatan; (1) Model participatory rapid appraisal, (2) Model Technologi transfer, dan (3) Model community development. Hasil kegiatan PkM 1) peningkatan pemahaman mitra tentang pengolahan sampah organik rumah tangga dengan menggunakan metode komposter, 2) terbentuknya keterampilan mitra dalam pembuatan komposter sederhana, 3) mitra memiliki keterampilan dalam pengolahan sampah organik rumah tangga dengan metode komposter, dan 4) adanya kesadaran mitra dalam pemilahan sampah organik dan anorganik. Diharapkan dengan pengetahuan dan keterampilan tersebut dapat menjadi kontribusi dalam mewujudkan NTB Zero Waste.

Abstract

ABSTRACT: Skills Process Sciences (KPS) is the ability to use the mind, reason and deeds based on scientific process. KPS needs to be developed because with the skills of the process one will be able to learn independently, develop themselves, and learn throughout life. Scientific process skills are a necessary skill in doing research and solving problems. This problem solving ability is one of Life Skills (Life Skills) that students need to have in order to continue their life. Based on the above description, the objective of the research is to produce a guided inquiry instructional device to trace the skills of biology student science process on the subject of Plant Classification. This type of research is an experimental research with research design using one group pre-test post-test design. The results show that learning tools developed (syllabus, SAP, and MFI) are well categorized, while students' science process skills, high N-gain values on communicating skills, and moderate categories of inferencing, analyzing, and designing experimental designs.

Abstract

Abstract: A research has been conducted to improve the mastery of students of biology teacher candidates through the application of inquiry learning model. This type of research is a classroom action research. This research applied to FPMIPA biology education student of IKIP Mataram, on the subject matter of plant structure and development. The results showed that 91% of students declared complete study on cycles II and 65% of students declared complete in sikus I. Thus the increase in mastery of the concept is in the high category. Based on the results of data analysis can be concluded that biology learning on the subject matter of structure and development of plants with inquiry model can improve the mastery of the concept of biology teacher candidates.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify and explain the evolutionary concept errors of FPMIPA IKIP Mataram students. Knowing misconceptions or misconcepts is a starting point for designing better learning to eliminate these misconceptions. This research is a descriptive survey research. Respondents in this study were 50 students majoring in biology FPMIPA IKIP Mataram who had taken the evolution course. Data were obtained using a questionnaire consisting of 10 statements, and then measures of the level of students' misconceptions about evolution were analyzed using a certainty of response index (CRI). Based on the results of this study it was concluded that students experience misconceptions about evolution, or have a low understanding of evolution, so it is also suggested to supplement the literature sources or learning resources for students, which in this case are books or handouts that are suitable (free of misconceptions), with the hope students will have a better understanding of evolution.

Abstract

Gaharu is a product of Non Timber Forest which is very potential and high economic value in West Nusa Tenggara Province. Lombok Island is one of the gaharu producing areas in Indonesia and is a growing place of endemic gaharu commercial species such as Gyrinops versteegii. Local people call it "Cucumber". So far, gaharu farmers only use gaharu trees only to be sold to gaharu exporters. However, in fact gaharu leaves can be processed into a product that has a good economic value, which is made into tea. Gaharu leaf tea is believed to have efficacy for the drinker. Gaharu leaf tea is usually made from leaves or young shoots of gaharu trees that have not been inoculated. While the gaharu leaves tea production from inoculated trees has not been done. Thus the purpose of this research is to optimize the utilization of agarwood leaf that has been inoculated as a tea-making material, so it can produce gaharu leaf tea with good quality without loss of taste, aroma, and its benefits. Types This research is experimental through laboratory test including water content test and extract level with gravimetric method. The material used as the assessment is Gaharu alpha leaves of Gyrinops versteegii taken directly from the gaharu farmer's garden on Lombok island.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the prospective science-teachers’ services satisfaction in private educational institution in Indonesia. Intended educational institution in this study is the Institute of Teacher Training and Education (IKIP) Mataram, Province of West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. This study is a survey research, where data is collected using a questionnaire containing the statement items of services satisfaction on the aspects of reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, and tangibility. Questionnaires were given to prospective-teachers who were actively studying and felt the services provided by the institution. Respondents involved as many as 282 prospective science-teachers, each of respondents from three study programs namely biology education, physics education, and chemistry education. The results of measurements of prospective science-teachers’ services satisfaction in IKIP Mataram on the aspects of reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, and tangibility in a row with very good responses of 17.59%, good responses of 60.64%, sufficient responses of 13.76%, and less responses of 8.01%. The recommendation in this study is that private education institutions need to continue to improve services in all aspects, especially the most dominant is the tangible aspect.
