Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untukmengetahuiseberapabesarpengaruhGlossingstrategy dalam pengajaran bahasa Inggris khususnya reading comprehension. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen, dengan menggunakan dua klasifikasi, yaitu  kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Pada kelas eksperimen diberikan perlakuan oleh peneliti yaitu dengan menggunakan strategi Glossing dan kelas kontrol menggunakan strategi Question-Answer Relationship. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas sebelas IPS, SMA PGRI 1 Padang tahun ajaran 2013/2014 yang berjumlah 113 orang. Sekolah tersebut mempunyai 2 jurusan, terdiri dari IPA dan IPS. Pada penelitian ini, peneliti memilih kelas sample berdasarkan homogeneity dan normality masing-masing kelas. Instrumen penelitian ini berbentuk test reading tentang narrative dan report text. Berdasarkan hasil analisis tes didapat rata-rata hasil tes pada kelas eksperimen (70) dan standar deviasi (5.03), sedangkan rata-rata kelas kontrol (63) dan standar deviasi (4.28), pengujian hipotesis ini dilakukan dengan uji t-table. Setelah dilakukan pengujian diperoleh t-calculated (5.78) lebih besar dari t-table (2.02) maka hipotesis pada penelitian ini diterima, sehingga disimpulkan bahwa strategi Glossing dapat memberikan efek yang siknifikan terhadap hasilnilaibahasa Inggris khususnya dalam reading pada siswa kelas sebelas jurusan IPS SMA PGRI 1 Padang.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Makalah ini membahas tentang penerapan strategi incremental rehearsal dalam pengajaran vacabulary. Incremental rehearsal adalah salah satu strategi yang dapat digunakan untuk memperbanyak vocabulary siswa. Jadi strategi ini adalah salah satu strategi yang menarik dan kreatif untuk diterapkan dalam pengajaran vocabulary di dalam kelas. Dalam penerapan strategi ini, siswa dibimbing untuk memahami arti pada setiap kosakata, selanjutnya siswa dapat mengulang kosakata yang telah mereka ketahui, selain itu  siswa juga menemukan arti kosakata yang tidak mereka ketahui. Penggunaan strategi incremental rehearsal dalam pengajaran vocabulary dapat meningkatkan vocabulary siswa. Sehingga disimpulkan bahwa strategi incremental rehearsal dapat membantu siswa dalam memperoleh kosakata baru .

Abstract

Vocabulary adalah salah satu element penting dalam Bahasa Inggris. Tanpa mengenali kata-kata dan arti kata dalam Bahasa Ingris siswa akan sulit untuk menguasai Bahasa Inggris. Untuk membuat siswa lebih mudah untuk menguasai Bahasa Inggris penulis memilih menggabungkan dua strategy yaitu Picture Word Inductive Model dan Mnemonic Strategy.Picture word inductive model adalah strategi yang menggunakan gambar untuk membuat siswa memperoleh banyak kosakata. Sedangkan Mnemonic  adalah strategi yang menggunakan kata kunci sehingga memudahkan siswa dalam memperoleh kosakata dan mempermudah untuk mengingat setiap kosakata yang telah dipelajari. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa dengan menggabungkan dua strategi ini akan membuat siswa lebih mudah untuk memperoleh banyak kosakata dan membuat siswa termotivasi untuk mempelajari Bahas Inggris.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Makalah ini mendiskusikan tentang permasalahan yang dihadapi guru dalam pembelajaran kosakata bahasa Inggris tingkat Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP). Salah satu masalah yang sering dihadapi yaitu bagaimana meningkatkan  kosakata anak dalam membaca teks untuk dijadikan sebuah kalimat. Biasanya siswa berpendapat bahwa mempelajari kosakata bahasa Inggris menyulitkan dan harus menghafal banyak kata-kata yang menyebabkan motivasi mereka berkurang untuk belajar. Salah satu strategi yang dapat digunakan untuk permasalahan tersebut yaitu dengan menggabungkan vocabulary self-collection strategy dan possible sentence strategy. Pada penerapannya, guru memberikan teks kepada siswa dalam bentuk kelompok, siswa disuruh untuk memilih kata-kata penting, dan dari kata-kata penting itu siswa disuruh untuk membuat prediksi  kalimat. Melalui prosedur ini siswa akan mudah mempelajari kosakata bahasa Inggris, sehingga belajar kosakata bahasa Inggris bukan lagi menjadi kegiatan yang membosankan.

Abstract

 This research was motivated by the low learning outcomes of accounting students Grades 1-2 Kartika X SMK Padang Academic Year 2013/2014 . This is caused by the lack of activity of students in the learning process .This study aims to determine the differences in accounting student learning outcomes using Class Concern with conventional learning method on Class X SMK Kartika 1-2 Padang . This research is an experimental study. The study population is a Class X student of SMK Padang 1-2 Kartika Academic Year 2013/2014 . Samples were taken with a random sampling technique , was selected as the class Xai Xai experimental class and the class as a control class .The instrument used was a test of student learning outcomes . Data analysis techniques to test the hypothesis is the t-test. Based on the analysis of data obtained an average value of 78.64 experimental class and control class average of 69.78 . From the analysis of the data found the value of t = 2.55 is greater than the table = 2.000 which means that the hypothesis is accepted at significance level α = 0.05 . This suggests that there are significant differences between the results of student learning method using Class Concern with conventional learning methods . This means that the accounting student learning outcomes using Class Concern better method of accounting student learning outcomes learning process using conventional teaching methods on Class X SMK Padang Kartika 1-2. .

Abstract

This research investigated the students’ writing skill on recount text at session at session 2016 A English Department of STKIP West Sumatera. Some of them had difficulties in organization, content, grammar, mechanic, and vocabulary. Then, they really need lecturers’ correction in every step of their writing process. Therefore, the researcher applied peer editing technique as the focus of research to solve this problem. The purposes were to find whether peer editing technique can improve students’ writing skill on Recount Text and some factors influence the improvement. The methodology of research is a classroom action research (CAR). Researcher used writing test and questionnaire as the instruments. The finding of the research showed that the students’ writing skill of recount text improves through Peer Editing technique and there are four factors influenced the improvement.

Abstract

English for Specific Purpose (ESP) refers to teaching and learning English as a foreign language for the purpose in using it in the certain domain.  The aimed of this study to wholly analyse the cornerstone of ESP focusing on needs analysis; necessities, wants and lacks. The study was conducted by using Research and Development (R&D), see Richey and Klein (2015). The data were obtained from questionnaires and interviews. Additionally, the results of needs analysis shown that English language needs of administrators majoring in daily conversation and English for profession (90 %) with various topics, then (20%) focusing on academic field. Furthermore, it was found that, there were 70% students as C2 (Basic-upper level) and 30% were C1 (Basic-lower level). Furthermore, schedule and difficulties in understanding materials were found as lacks for the administrators. In conclusion, the results of this study with suggestion for ESC program frequently instructors or teachers to design the syllabi and develop teaching materials related to the findings, and institution to issue the policy. It is strongly required do be done as soon as possible in order to support the State of Polytechnic Ambon becomes the best university in eastern Indonesia and can be a reference campus.

Abstract

Language is clearly to occupy a function whereas a number of people are not familiar with the function. In fact, the problem frequently happens in verbal communication in classroom when the utterances cannot be merely interpreted literally since sometimes what lecturers mean is different from what they have been stated. In order to anticipate and minimize the misunderstanding of language function uttered both man and woman lecturers, the model of speech acts is strongly required to be formed related to the gender perspective as the purpose of the research.  Researcher conducted descriptive research with pragmatic identity method with purposive sampling. The data of this research were the English lecturers’ utterances used when communicating with the students in the classrooms. The results of the research were QEC (Questioning, Explaining, Commanding) pattern frequently uttered by woman (16 categories with total 301) and CQE (Commanding, Questioning, Explaining) pattern mostly performed by the man lecturer (8 categories with total 80. In conclusion both of the speech acts models/patterns used in teaching are properly qualified to be implemented since the teaching strategy focuses on students’ center

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian untuk mengetahui bagaimana guru bahasa Inggris menerapkan Blended Learning di SMAN 12 Bungo. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Teknik pengambilan data yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini dua orang guru yang mengajar di kelas X dan XI. Instrumen penelitian adalah dengan melakukan, catatan lapangan (field note), pengamatan (observasi ceklis) dan rekaman video dan screenshot dari Google Classroom dan Whats Up Group. Peneliti menggunakan indikator dari Ministry of Education and Culture (2013) yaitu seeking of information, acquisition of Information dan synthesizing of knowledge. Dari data penelitian ditemukan bahwa dalam pembelajaran tatap muka guru belum menggunakan beberapa tahap dari indikator yaitu seeking of information, acquisition of information dan synthesizing of knowledge, dalam pembelajaran online guru hanya menggunakan dua tahap dari indikator yaitu seeking of information dan synthesizing of knowledge. Berdasarkan analisis data, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa guru bahasa Inggris belum menerapkan beberapa dari sepuluh indikator Blended Learning dalam pembelajaran tatap muka dan belum maksimal dalam pembelajaran online.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze and figure out the students’ error in writing technical skills based on the STAR method. This is really crucial in order to make the students learn from their writing errors based on STAR method and the teacher is strongly able to help them properly. This study was qualitative with a number of subjects were 15 students who joined the Digital Talent Scholarship 2020 by KOMINFO. Content test based on STAR method carried out to identify the error made by the students. The result of this study was categorized into four levels of error. First, the highest percentage of error was T (Task) 36 %. The second was action (A) with 16 % error in writing technical skill with action. Next was the result, R, with 4 % and the last was the situation with 1.3%. Based on the writer observation in teaching bath 3 DTS 2020, error happened because some of the students did not attend the first meeting of the course. The second reason, error could happen because the students are still confused to distinguish between personality traits and introducing self and technical skills. The last reason was the internet connection during the training done via zoom.
