Abstract

This paper is based on the phenomenon of dancer or “tayub” which is celebrated as a very popular cultural artifact in public life, particularly in Java. This tradition is originally part of a sacred ritual, which ultimately became a performing art, but tends to be viewed negatively. In a historical context, the dancer was originally seen based on cultural concept and evolves into culturally sacred profane. Negative reception of ronggeng is not only uttered orally but also embodied in the written tradition. It is found in the genre of literary fiction such as in Trilogy Ronggeng Dukuh  Paruk written Ahmad Tohari (2003), Ronggeng works Dewi Lingga Sari (2007), and Karti Kledek Ngrajek by S.W. Warsito (2009) . The results of this study illustrate that the figure of dancer who is represented in Indonesian fiction are various. Although there are similarities, but the authors tend to have different reception levels regarding “ronggeng”. “Ronggeng” as cultural artifacts is the manifestation of the ability of local communities to respond and adapt to the environment actively. Similarly, what is represented in fiction about “ronggeng” is a mirror of the society where the work was born.

Abstract

This research was based on a phenomenon that gender ideology practiced by a society might be reflected in the production of literary work. Thus, even though a novel is known as an imaginative work, its content and gender ideology could not be detached from social reality. The aims of this research were describing the role and gender identity, the types of gender ideology, and the gender relationship issues in the Indonesia novel written during reformation era. Gramsci’s theory of hegemony and gender perspective helped to describe the problems presented in this article. The formal object of this research was elaborating gender ideology presented in four novels written by Indonesian authors during reformation era, namely Saman by Ayu Utami, GeniJora by Abidah El Khalieqy, Nayla by Djenar Maesa Ayu, and Tanah Tabu by Anindita S. Tayf. The research method implemented was library research. This research showed the variety of ideologies that occupy literature as the site of struggle among ideologies. The results of the research are the four novels represent the patriarchal ideology, familialism ideology, ibuism ideology, and general gender ideology. The four gender ideologies create domestication of the position and the role of women. The existence and the organization of the gender ideology are supported by masculine hegemony in Indonesian culture.

Abstract

ABSTRAKSI: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan signifikan penerapan metode “think, pair, and share” di kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol tentang kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks berita. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimen kuasi, dengan desain kelompok kontrol “non-equivalent”, dan sampel bertujuan terdiri dari dua kelompok: 30 siswa di kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kemampuan menulis teks berita siswa sebelum mendapat perlakuan, secara keseluruhan, masih kurang maksimal. Perolehan nilai pre-test di kelas eksperimen, rata-rata sebesar 41; sedangkan kelas kontrol sebesar 46.8. Pada saat post-test, kelas eksperimen mendapat nilai 80; sedangkan kelas kontrol sebesar 53.8. Kemampuan menulis teks berita siswa kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol, dengan demikian, mengalami peningkatan. Hasil uji hipotesis pada siswa kelas VIII SMP (Sekolah Menengah Pertama) Laboratorium UPI (Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia) Kampus Cibiru, Bandung, Jawa Barat, Indonesia ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara kemampuan menulis teks berita siswa kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. KATA KUNCI: Pembelajaran Bahasa; Teknik Berpikir, Berpasangan, Berbagi; Teks Berita; Kemampuan Menulis Siswa.ABSTRACT: “Application of Think, Pair, and Share Learning Methods in News Text Writing Lesson”. This study aims to investigate a significant difference in the implementation of think, pair, share method in the experimental and control groups of students’ ability in writing the news text. The method used is quasi experiment, with non-equivalent control group design, and the purposive sampling was consisted of 30 students for each groups. The finding shows that before the treatment, the students’ achievements in both groups were not maximal. The pre-test score results of the experimental group was 41; while the control group was 46.8. However, the post-test results of the experimental group was 80; but the control group as 53.8. It indicates the students’ ability in writing the news text in the experimental groups improved. Abstract

This research rests on the phenomenon that literary works are not born from cultural vacuum and social emptiness. The pre-Balai Pustaka Indonesian novels mark the public's awareness of the importance of education so that it cannot be separated from its social cultural system. The issue of the importance of women's education and equality discourse has been spawned in pre-Balai Pustaka Indonesian novels. This is important to be reflected as an effort to enrich the literary treasures of Indonesia that often side-stepped pre-Balai Pustaka literary works. Three pre-Balai Pustaka Indonesia novels that raise issues of women's education and equality discourse show the concern of Indonesian authors on issues related to women's education. This research seeks to explore the discourse of equality in three pre-Balai Pustaka Indonesian novels buried in the course of Indonesian literature. Therefore, feminist literary criticism and gender perspective are used. The results of this study contribute to the world of Indonesian literature, especially the activities of Indonesian literary criticism that reflect the presence of pre-Balai Pustaka Indonesia novels for the development of literary criticism in the present time and the future.

Abstract

Abstrak: Tulisan ini merupakan hasil penelitian yang didasari oleh fenomena bahwa ideologi gender yang berlaku pada suatu masyarakat dapat mewarnai karya sastra yang dilahirkan. Karena itu, meskipun novel merupakan kreasi imajinatif, isi maupun ideologi gender yang diembannya tidak begitu saja dapat dilepaskan dari realitas kehidupan masyarakat. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan (1) representasi ideologi gender, dan (2) hegemoni ideologi gender dalam novel Indonesia era reformasi. Untuk mendeskripsikan hal tersebut digunakan teori hegemoni Gramsci dan analisis gender. Sementara sumber data penelitian ini adalah novel Saman karya Ayu Utami,  Tarian Bumi karya Oka Rusmini, dan Tanah Tabu karya Anindita S. Tayf. Hasil telaah ini memberikan gambaran bahwa novel Indonesia era reformasi merepresentasikan ideologi patriarki, ideologi familialisme, ideologi ibuisme, dan ideologi umum. Keberadaan dan kemelembagaan ideologi gender tersebut disebabkan oleh hegemoni maskulinitas dalam kebudayaan Indonesia.

Abstract

Penyusunan bahan pengayaan cerita rakyat berguna untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi serta membentuk pengalaman apresiasi sastra bagi pemelajar BIPA. Namun, untuk merancang bahan pengayaan yang sesuai, perlu diadakan kegiatan pendahuluan untuk menganalisis kebutuhan agar bahan pengayaan yang dirancang dapat diterima dengan baik oleh pengguna di lapangan. Penelitian ini merupakan analisis kebutuhan menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Eksplorasi kebutuhan bahan pengayaan teks cerita rakyat diperoleh melalui wawancara kepada tiga pengajar BIPA tingkat menengah, angket kebutuhan untuk pemelajar BIPA, dan analisis dokumen bahan pengayaan cerita rakyat pada laman BIPA daring Kemendikbud. Hasilnya, seluruh pengajar memerlukan adanya penyusunan bahan pengayaan cerita rakyat untuk meningkatkan kemampuan apresiasi sastra dan literasi budaya bagi pemelajar BIPA tingkat menengah. Selanjutnya, penyesuaian konten dan bentuk penyajian perlu dilakukan sebagai inovasi pada bahan pengayaan cerita rakyat bagi pemelajar BIPA berupa muatan, atau pengetahuan yang memiliki nilai kearifan lokal, nilai pariwisata, nilai sosial dan lain sebagainya.

Abstract

Although the preservation of the Indonesian culture is deemed beneficial, the lack of folklore texts readily available for instructional purposes makes teaching and learning the Indonesian culture challenging. This study aims to develop web-based teaching materials, integrated with Indonesian folklore for intermediate- level students of Indonesian for foreign speakers (BIPA). A Research and Development (R&D) method was employed with a 4D research model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). Four teachers and seven students were purposively selected, based on prior experience in teaching BIPA and ownership of a device and ability to operate a software. A questionnaire, expert validation sheet, users assessment sheet, and interview guide were employed to obtain the expected data. The results of the study revealed that all teachers had used textbooks and the Internet, but not all teachers used enrichment materials from the government. They further stated that they were interested in the development of teaching materials with folklore texts. The expert validation results showed that the developed web-based teaching materials was feasible with a very good predicate. Based on a limited trial (independently) by users, BIPA teachers and students responded that the prototype was feasible with a very good predicate

Abstract

Proses penciptaan sebuah karya sastra tak terlepas dari hal-hal yang melatarbelakangi, segala faktor lingkungan dan ideologi penulis ataupun ideologi etnis seringkali menjadi faktor penting yang dapat mendorong lahir dan terciptanya sebuah karya sastra. Liem Khing Hoo tentu mempunyai sebuah ideologi pribadi yang menjadi landasan fundamental dalam menjalankan hidupnya, serta Liem Khing Hoo mempunyai ideologi bersama sebagai ras peranakan Cina di tengah masyarakat melayu yang bersuku-suku. Dalam cerita Merah karya Liem Khing Hoo perjuangan kelas sangat kentara. Buruh- buruh pabrik rokok yang tidak mendapatkan haknya melakukan aksi tuntutan terhadap tuan pabrik. Adanya pengumpulan massa sehingga tercipta suatu kekuatan massa yang berawal dari solidaritas karena merasa tertipu oleh seorang tuan pabrik, menimbulkan gejolak perlawanan terhadap sesuatu yang lebih superior. Penelitian ini berjenis dekriptif kualitatif. Pada cerita Merahkarya Liem Khing Hoo terdapat nilai-nilai marxismyang terlihat dalam filsafat materialisme, kritik ekonomi politik, doktrin perjuangan kelas dan unsur kesemestaan. Sedangkan dalam latar ekspresif dapat diketahuo bahwa Liem Khing Hoo adalah seorang dengan konsep lokalitas yang kental, beruapaya melakukan propaganda ekonomi sosialis, menentang stratifikasi kelas. Segi kesemestaan dalam cerita ini merujuk pada tahun 1937 di mana terdapat banyak pabrik rokok pada masa itu.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masalah ketidakadilan gender yang masih dialamiperempuan hingga saat ini. Masalah tersebut diangkat lewat konflik-konflik yang dialami kelima tokoh utama perempuan dalam novel Tango Sadimin karya Ramayda Akmal. Menurut psikoanalisis feminisme Lacan, opresi yang dialami perempuan berasal dari kegagalan perempuan menjadi phallus. Akibatnya, perempuan terpinggirkan di dunia Simbolik. Kegagalan tersebut juga menimbulkan rasa kekurangan dan hasrat. Oleh karenaitu, permasalahan yang berusaha diangkat dalam penelitian ini adalah hasrat dan penggambaran tokoh perempuan di dunia Simbolik dalam novel Tango Sadimin karya Ramayda Akmal. Karena konflik batin dan perwatakan tokoh perempuan lebih menonjol, teks dikaji dengan pendekatan psikologi sastra dan feminisme psikoanalisis dan feminismepostmodernisme. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui gambaran perempuan di duniaSimbolik berdasarkan hasrat tokoh utama perempuan dalam novel Tango Sadimin karyaRamayda Akmal. Hal ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ketidakadilan gender dilihat dari segipsikis tokoh perempuan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif analisis. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan studi pustaka. Teknik pengolahan data dilakukan dengan analisis struktur menggunakan teori Tzvtan Todorov, analisis hasrat menggunakan psikoanalisis Lacan, analisis penggambaran perempuan di dunia Simbolik menggunakan pembacaan dekonstruksi. Adapun hasil penelitian ini adalah: 1) hasrat tokoh utama pere mpuan didominasi oleh fantasi anaklitik aktif dari tatanan YangReal dan hasrat narsisitik dari tatanan Yang Simbolik; 2) terdapat dua representasi perempuan di dunia Simbolik yaitu perempuan yang melawan aturan Simbolik yang represif (tergambar melalui tokoh Nini Randa, Nah dan Sipon) dan perempuan yang ter- represi oleh aturan Simbolik (tergambar melalui tokoh Tango dan Nyai Pertama); 3) kegagalan perempuan menjadi phallus tidaklah bersifat kodrati dan dapat diubah dengan cara perempuan menyadari bahwa ia dapat memilih yang terbaik untuk hidupnya dan bertanggungjawab atas pilihannya tersebut.
