Abstract

One measure of global competition in the construction sector is the low accident rate (zero accident). To realize this, a conducive work safety climate is needed. Work safety climate can be realized needed occupational safety and health management and workforce support. This study aims to evaluate the work safety climate. Sampling was used a purposive sampling method with a work safety climate measurement tool in the form of a questionnaire based on NOSACQ-50 consisting of 7 dimensions, with analysis using a descriptive frequency test, Mann Whitney, and Chi-Square. The results showed that the three projects studied had a good safety climate, besides there were differences in management's safety priorities. The other dimensions, that are the dimensions of developing work safety management, fairness to work safety management, commitment to employee safety, employee safety priorities and the attitude of not wanting to risk work safety, communication and safety training including trusting in peer safety, competence, and worker’s confidence in the work safety system shows that there is no difference. Chi-square test shows that there is no relationship between safety climate with education level, age level and years of service.

Abstract

The time constraint on implementing construction projects results in work stress on the workforce. Several factors that influence work stress in the force include age, education level, and work experience. Each crew has different levels of stress and trigger factors, from the level of stress experienced by workers from the lowest to the highest. For this reason, the project manager needs to manage stress in the workforce so that work accidents can be reduced. This study aims to determine the effect of work stress on work accidents based on the moderation of age, education level, and work experience. The research method uses a survey method with the measuring instrument. The sampling method used is accidental sampling, with the respondents being foremen, handymen, and workers. Respondents in the study amounted to 50 people. The analysis used is a linear regression with moderation. Based on the research analysis, the result is that work stress has a significant effect on work accidents (sig. < 0.05). At the same time, the moderating variables of age and education level did not significantly affect work accidents (sig. > 0.05). Increasing age and the higher education level of the workforce do not increase work accidents that occur. These two variables do not function as moderator variables but as independent variables. The moderating variable of work experience significantly affects work accidents (sig. < 0.05). The increase in the work experience of the workforce reduces work accidents. The work experience variable also functions as a pure moderator variable.

Abstract

Kegiatan tri dharma yang dijalankan oleh perguruan tinggi, dalam bentuk pengabdian kepada masyarakat adalah kegiatan civitas akademika yang memanfaatkan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi untuk mencerdaskan kehidupan bangsa dan memajukan kesejahteraan masyarakat. (Direktorat Riset dan Pengabdian Masyarakat, 2018) Kegiatan pengabdian yang diadakan di tengah kondisi pandemi COVID 19 saat ini, memaksa perguruan tinggi mengadakannya sesuai dengan protokol kesehatan yang diterapkan dengan protokol Kesehatan dengan ketat. Kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat ini diadakan oleh Jurusan Teknik Sipil – Institut Teknologi Adhi Tama Surabaya (ITATS) bekerja sama dengan RW 02 Kecamatan Kertajaya Kecamatan Gubeng Kota surabaya mengambil Topik "Sosialisasi Mitigasi Bencana di Lingkungan RW 02 Kelurahan Kertajaya Kecamatan Gubeng Kota surabaya”. Hasil dari pelaksanaan pengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan di balai RW dengan kegiatan sosialisasi Mitigasi Bencana anak – anak bisa menerima edukasi atau ilmu yang diberikan jika terjadi potensi Bencana alam seperti banjir, gempa bumi dan ada pula bencana yang disebabkan kelalaian manusia seperti kebakaran dan diharapkan anak – anak bisa mempraktekkan jika terjadi bencana dan bisa melindungi keluarga, serta masyarakat sekitarnya. Banyak masyarakat yang kurang mengetahui cara mengantisipasi jika terjadi bencana. Maka dari itu kami sebagai mahasiswa dan para dosen memberikan edukasi bencana yang sangat perlu dilakukan sebagai pembelajaran dan perkenalan awal pada Mitigasi Bencana diharapkan dengan sosialisasi ini para warga RW 02 dapat menambah wawasan dalam menghadapi bencana dan mengetahui Tindakan awal yang harus dilakukan saat evakuasi jika terjadi bencana.

Abstract

Accidents in construction project often occur, especially in the construction world. Safety climate plays an important role in the success of a project. By using a literature study, this article aims to find out what factors affect climate. This study uses 14 journals and consists of 17 articles that focus on the climate of work safety. The results showed that 13 factors were generated which were categorized into physical and non-physical. Physical factors that influence are physical fatigues, low adaptability, motor skills, leadership management, systematic work preparation, safety behaviour and injuries. Meanwhile, non-physical consisted of 5 factors: organizational climate, emotional stress, psychological conflict, personality, intelligence and motivation, psychosocial conditions. For further research, factor analysis will be carried out regarding the factors that have been found by surveying construction workers in Indonesia. The association of these factors with the safety climate can also be found.

Abstract

Mechanical electrical and plumbing (MEP) job is a job in construction project and the implementation is conducted after the workers conduct structural work. The use of materials has an important part from project total cost because waste will be happened if it is used uncontrollable. The aim of this study was identifying JIT application to electrical work in Leedon Hotel Surabaya. The condition before the researcher implemented JIT in Leedon Hotel project, it was identified waste caused by design change, lack of coordination between project and Head Office, and materials availability with excess material stocks. The limited size of the warehouse as MEP materials storage made the material storage not optimal and it had potential to be waste. Applying just in time concept had a focus on waste elimination by planning - needs - use in the field based on the application of JIT method in the Leedon Hotel project. Limited warehouse conditions could still carry out material control without using excess material inventory which had an impact on minimizing the emergence of waste.

Abstract

Salah satu bentuk risko kecelakaan kerja di pekerjaan pengelasan  pada pelaksanaan proyek konstruksi adalah cedera mata akut. Cedera mata akut dapat dicegah dengan menggunakan pelindung mata yang tepat. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui faktor penyebab tidak  menggunakan alat pelindung mata pada pekerja las, mengetahui hubungan antara variabel usia, pendidikan, pengalaman dengan perilaku tidak menggunakan alat pelindung mata. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode rerata aritmatik, korelasi Jaspen’s, dan Gamma. Teknik pengambilan data menggunakan kuesioner dengan jumlah 30 reponden. Responden di penelitian ini adalah tukang las. Pengambilan sampel sebagai responden menggunakan purposive sampling. Penelitian dilakukan di 5 perusahaan konstruksi di Surabaya yaitu: PT. Noorhatama Wisessa, Bengkel Las Indah Jaya, Bengkel Las Karya Steel, PT. Bangun Sarana Baja, CV. As Mu’in Jaya Konstruksi. Hasil penelitian ini didapatkan bahwa penyebab yang tertinggi pekerja las tidak menggunakan kacamata adalah lupa menggunakan kacamata las dengan rerata sebesar 2,70 (kategori kadang-kadang). Sedangkan tidak ada hubungan perilaku tidak menggunakan kaca mata dengan usia, pendikan, dan pengalaman. Implikasi dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pihak manajemen proyek  melakukan tindakan pengawasan secara rutin serta memberikan pengarahan tentang pentingnya pemakaian kacamata las. Dengan demikian risiko kecelakaan kerja diminimalkan.

Abstract

Linear programming can be an alternative in solving problems in the construction sector. In construction work there is a workforce, but the allocation of the number of workers used requires good planning. If the allocation of the number of the worker is optimal, then the costs incurred for labor wages are also more efficient. For this reason, this study aims to optimize wages and the number of workers in construction projects. In performing optimization, the method used is simplex analysis. The simplex method is a linier program that can be used more than 3 variables, to solve the problem by iterating or recalculation until it reaches the optimal solution. The results of this are a decrease in the cost of labor wages, for concrete work there is a decrease in the cost of labor wages by 8,60%, and ceiling work there is a decrease in the cost of labor wages by 58,59%.

Abstract

Fire is an event where a fire is not where it should be, resulting in material or life losses that can occur anywhere. Fatal fires are those that occur in the industrial sector because they will disrupt operational and production activities. The purpose of this study is to analyze employee preparedness for facilities or infrastructure from the protection system in RBS CHROME and find out the comparison of the preparedness of production employees and management employees to fire hazards in RBS CHROME. This type of research is descriptive quantitative. The design of this study used a list of questions as a guideline for interviews and field observations. The list of questions to informants of the study was carried out on 3 groups of employees, namely production employees and management employees of RBS CHROME. Field observation of facilities or infrastructure using a checklist sheet that refers to a ministerial regulation. The results of this study show that RBS CHROME has provided facilities or facilities for fire disaster preparedness, but employees who are in the RBS CHROME office do not understand and are not prepared for fire disasters
