Abstract

The knowledge society is a very precious cultural wealth that needs to be explored and documented. The aim of research want to know the types of rattan what is utilized as a woven material and studying the utilization of traditional knowledge as a craft material woven rattan society About the Nature Park Hill Kelam. The sampling method used (purposive sampling) by the number of informants 84 people while the method used descriptive qualitative data analysis. From the results of the study found 10 species of rattan that is used as a material woven crafts and produce 12 kinds of webbing. Suggestions writer for rattan species that is widely used hoped the community can do a cane cultivation in order to remain sustainable existence. For this type of woven handicrafts, villagers expected Kebong can introduce handicraft products to the public outside. Extension of the weaving techniques are better supported by a rich and varied coloring is highly recommended. The need for the participation of local government initiatives and services related to the conservation of cultural specially woven handicrafts are very necessary so that the culture is maintained. Abstract

Rattan is a source of biological in Indonesia and usually referred to as a potential non-timber for forest products (NTFP). This research aims to determine the species of rattan used by the people in Kasromego village of Beduai Subdistrict, Sanggau regency, and the processing of each species of rattan and parts used by the community. The method used was descriptive analysis with a qualitative approach. The qualitative approach in this study is to provide a description of the data events based on facts with direct interview techniques with a number of respondents to obtain answers. Sampling was done through snowball sampling method. The results of the study show that the villagers of Kasremego take advantage of as many as 7 species of rattan, namely: saga ( Calamus caesius Blume ), marau ( Karthalsia rigida Blume ), halus ( Karthalsia perox Becc ), irit ( Calamus trachycoleus Becc), semut ( Korthalsia sescaphigera Mart ), sanjat ( Calamus paspalantus Becc ) and samere ( Plectomiopsis mira J. Dransf ) As for the parts of rattan used are for the semut rattan, the innermost frond is used for food of vegetables. Tha rattan used to make ropes is the halus rattan, the part of this rattan used is the trunk. For customary/religious ceremonies, typically the people used the halus rattan, and the part of rattan used is the leaf. Keywords: Rattan, research method, rattan species

Abstract

Communiy development is one of the guideline citivity concept on society and corporation have to apply it. This research aims to know the participation of sosiety at Semuntai Village on appllaying community development; to know correlations among age, education, knawledge, income, the people is preception about the mediators and cosmopolitan in applying community development in Finnantara Intiga corporation. This is a description structure interview method on 78 household and data analyzed using Chi square. The participation of people mostly different and has a high correlation to the level of education. On the other hands, level of age factor, knowledge, income, people perception on the mediators action and cosmopolitan didnt show high correlation to the participation of society in programme community development. Abstract

The increasing of deforestation cause community awareness to sustain the forest especially in Nusapati Village, through local wisdom. It can prevent the occurrence of violations that contribute to deforestation. Therefore, the purpose of study was to know the characteristics of the society (age, education, occupation, gender, and religion) and the role of local wisdom in the management of mangrove forests in hamlets I and II of the Nusapati Village. This study was conducted for 2 weeks. The method in this study was the survey. The determination of sample used the purposive sampling with interview technique. The data were analyzed with descriptive qualitative. The results showed that the management of mangrove forests by Nusapati community did not apply unwritten rules but apply a written rules as local wisdom. An unwritten rules in the Nusapati community included the Tolak Bala rituals and habits such as a decision making to be discussed, so it could solve the problems. Abstract

Rubber farming has been in demand by the people of Laja Village since 1990's as a livelihood by utilizing shifting fields within the forest. Some people's income from the results of rubber farming is very large, especially during the dry season, where people tap into rubber sap every day. Rubber prices experienced a decline that was felt by rubber farmers and in the rainy season the people could not tap rubber sap, the people were forced to find alternative jobs, such as gold mining and other jobs. This situation certainly raises different perceptions of society. This study aims to determine the public perception of rubber farming and analyze the relationship between knowledge, income and cosmopolitan factors. This study uses descriptive and associative surveys with interview techniques and the questionnaire contains a number of questions posed to respondents, collecting data using random purposive sampling. Data analysis using descriptive analysis of the chi square test and inferential analysis using the non-parametric statistical test of the Kendall Tau correlation. The number of respondents in the study were 72 people. The results of this study indicate that public perceptions tend to be positive, moderate level of knowledge, low income level, high cosmopolitan level. There is a positive and significant relationship between the level of knowledge and perception, and there is no significant and no relationship between income levels and cosmopolitan with community perceptions.Keywords: Local community Perception, Rubber Farmers

Abstract

Community forests in the Meragun village is the designed of Indonesian Forestry Ministry which has the goal to improve the welfare of society. Relationship between community and existence of community forests has led to the perception the public as an attempt to maintain and preserve forests. The purpose of this study was to determine the public perception of the existence of a community forest in the Meragun village, Sekadau district and factors that influence. The method based on survey and sampling techniques or interviews the respondents conducted by purposive sampling. The number of respondents were 81 respondents. The results showed the level of public perception to the existence of a community forest in the Meragun village tend to be higher as many as 50 respondents (61.72%) have a high perception of the existence of a community forest in the Meragun village, 23 respondents (28.39%) perceive moderate and 8 (9.87%) respondents who had a low perception. Abstract

Mangrove forest and the community lived around it are two components that influence each other. The interaction between the two of them is unavoidable because they live in the same environment. Activities, perceptions or actions of the community can affect the sustainability of the existence and the preservation of mangrove forest. This study aims to describe the community perceptions towards mangrove forest and to analyze the correlation that affects community perceptions in Setapuk Besar village towards the level of knowledge, dependence, and cosmopolitanism. The technique of sampling employed in this study is purposive sampling. Based on Slovin formula, a total sample of 74 respondents was obtained. The frequency of community perceptions in Setapuk Besar village on the existence of mangrove forest are: 67 respondents (90.5%) had positive perceptions, 6 respondents (8.1%) had neutral perceptions, and 1 respondent (1.4%) had negative perception. From the results of Kendall tau-b test, the value of Sig 0.000 < 0.01 and Sig 0.028 < 0.05, which indicates that there is a significant correlation between community perceptions with the level of dependence positive correlation (0.419), the correlation strength is moderate. Cosmopolitan level positive correlation (0.190), the correlation strength is low.  While the value of Sig 0.170 > 0.05, which indicates that there is no significant correlation between community perceptions and the level of knowledge positive correlation coefficient (0.119), the correlation strength is low.Keywords: Community perceptions, mangrove forest, Respondents, Setapuk Besar

Abstract

Community local wisdom of peatlands conservation in Punggur Kecil villages is one form of community life culture in peserving peatlands for generation to generation. The purpose of this study is to examine the forms of local wisdom in preserving peatlands, analyzing the obstacles faced by the community in maintaining local wisdom as a supporter of peatland sustainability and analyzing and describing the community to have a role in peatland management. This research was condected in Punggur Kecil village Sungai Kakap sub-district Kuburaya Regency. This research was carried out for 2 weeks effectively in the field. The tools used include writing instruments, questionnaires, calculators, recording devices, cameras, and maps of research locations. The method used is a survey and observation method with direct interview techniques. Sampling is done by using purposive sampling. Based on the results of farming research is part of the local wisdom of Punggur Kecil village community which is also part of their cultural identity in addition to of course as an effort to meet food and economic needs of the family. The form of local wisdom of the people besides farming, namely by making ditches or regulating water systems. Land preparation by peasants on peatland land in traditional culture of the village community using long type machetes. Currently the biggest obstacle to peat is drainage and fires which are usually accompanied by forest conversion. Based on the results of field observations and discussions from the results of reserch conducted in general, the village community managed peatlands well. The results of the research conducted showed that all existing land management models use a mixed system. In the rice fields of the community, they combine rice plants with other holiculture plants such as chili, spinach, yams, leeks, bananas and other types of plants such as coconut, langsat and durian. Local community needs is obtained from agricultural products for their lively hood.Keywords : Peatlands, Peatland conservation, Punggur Kecil Villages.

Abstract

Mangrove forest in Kelurahan Kuala Disctrict of Singkawang Barat Singkawang City is utilized by the local residents to fulfill their needs. The relationship between the community and the existence of mangrove forest elicits specific perception on mangrove as an effort to maintain and preserve mangrove forests. This study aims to observe the perception from the community in Kelurahan Kuala District of Singkawang Barat Singkawang City on the existence of Mangrove forest and the factors influencing. The study used survey method, and the technique used was purposive sampling and proportional sampling. The total respondents are 94 persons. The results show that the level of people perception on the existence of mangrove forest in the coastal areas of Kelurahan Kuala belongs to moderate level, with 11 high perception respondents (12%), 67 moderate perception respondents (71%), and 16 low perception respondents (17%).Keywords: kelurahan kuala, mangrove forest, people perception,

Abstract

Illegal gold mining activities in Pematang Gadung Village have affected the environment such as destruction of forests, pollution of watersheds and threatening the existence of animals. This research aims to analyze the attitudes of the community and the relationship between factors that affect the attitude of the community regarding the activities of illegal gold mining in Pematang Gadung Village.The method used in this research was the descriptive method and the sampling technique or interview with respondents was conducted trough purposive sampling. The number of respondents in this research was 87 respondents. The results showed that 46 (52.87%) of the respondents had a neutral attitude, 27 (31.03%) had a negative attitude (rejecting) and 14 (16.09%) had a positive attitude (accepting). The level of perception had an effect on people's attitude, while the levels of knowledge, cosmopolitan and forestry outreach had no relationship with the people’s attitude toward illegal gold mining activities. Keywords: attitude, community, illegal mining, respondents, sample.
