Abstract

This study aims to describe the images in a collection of poems from Friends Necklace Afrizal Malna work. This study focused on imagery that is divided into six images are visual imagery, auditory imagery, olfactory imagery, imagery feelings, tactile imagery and motion imagery.This research is a qualitative study using descriptive comparative method. Stages of the research done by: (1) reading poetry collection Necklace from Friends (2) marks and record the images contained in each poem. (3) inventory data associated with the images. (4) classify  the data.   Results of this study showed that in a collection of poems from Friends Necklace are six images. Results of this study revealed that visual imagery is more widely used in the collection of poems poets of Friends Necklace Afrizal Malna work. Diction used Afrizal Malna evoke an image of human life represented objects and human activity, so the visual images that are often used Afrizal Malna to see the events in the poem.

Abstract

This research is motivated by several factors. The first factor,facilities and infrastructure to support the learning for still there even less. Second, students skill in writing poetry is low. This research aims to describe the things. First, the skills to appreciate poetry class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang. Second, skill writing poetry students class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang. Third, the relationship skills to appreciate poetry and writing poetry students class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang.                       This research uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive menthod through correlational approach. Sample of this research were students class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang enrolled in the academic year 2012/2013 which is spread in 3 class. Taking random sample totaling 28 students. The data is a result of research skills of student class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang to appreciate poetry gained through objective test and the result writing poetry students class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang obtained through performance test.             Based on the data processing and discussion, obtained the following result. First, the average skill level to appreciate poetry of students class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang are enough qualifying (61,03). Second, the average writing poetry students class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang are more than enough in qualifying (66,64). Third, there is a significant positive the significant level of  95%  is equal to 1,706 between appreciating poetry skills with writing poetry.

Abstract

This research was motivated by three issues, namely (1) lack of students interest in learning to write poetry, (2) the delivery of learning materials of writing poetry was less interesting, (3) the inapropriate selection and use of instructional media. This research was aimed to describe the ability to write poetry of class VIII students of SMPN 1 Lembah Gumanti using media poster. This research was quantitative using descriptive methods. Research object were class VIII students of SMPN 1 Lembah Gumanti. Samples were class VIII students of SMPN1 Lembah Gumanti amounted to 33 people. The ability to write poetry class VIII students of SMPN1 Lembah Gumanti using combined media posters for both indicators is classified as Good. Based on the results of research, it can be summarized as follows: First, the use of media posters in learning to write poetry in class VIII students of SMP 1 Lembah Gumanti is classified as Good. Second, in general the average value of the ability to write poetry class VIII students of SMPN 1 Lembah Gumanti valley is 79,1 with Good qualification. The Conclusion were relevant to research, two things are recommended. First, the ability to write poetry class VIII students of SMPN1 Lembah Gumanti required further improvement. Second, the use of instructional media, should be used functionally in learning to write poetry.

Abstract

This study discusses the ability of the Official Letter Grade of SMP NI Pasaman Panti. The background of this problem, namely the First, students are not informed about any course sections and subsections official letter. Second, students watched less effective use of sentences. Third, students pay less attention to the use of capital letters , especially the letter of application for a license. Fourth, students are less able to write a formal letter due to several factors, namely ( 1 ) in accordance with the times, students are more likely to use mobile phone communication tool of the write ( 2 ) write a formal letter is a lesson that is less attractive to students. (3) the lack of attention and guidance in writing a formal letter. The purpose of this study is to describe the ability to write an official letter grade SMP N 1 Panti Pasaman, especially letters permit application in terms of sections and subsections of a formal letter, use effective sentences and use capital letters. This paper suggests several theories that are relevant to the variables studied. The theories used are (1) The nature of the letter, include: (a) Definition of a formal letter, (b) a formal letter type, (c) the form of an official letter, (d) parts of a formal letter, (2) effective use of sentence (3) the use of capital letters. This research is quantitative research using descriptive methods. The research data was obtained by a written test or write a letter carried by the eighth grade students . This test aims to determine the ability of students to write a formal letter letter of application for a permit in particular by applying the theories that have been studied. The results of this study as follows. (1) the ability to write an official letter grade SMP N 1 Panti Pasaman for sections and subsections official letter on qualification "reasonably" with an average of 64.6% (2) the ability to write an official letter grade SMP N 1 Panti Pasaman particular letter requesting permission to use effective sentence is the qualifier "not at all" with an average of 26.6 %. (3) the ability to write an official letter grade SMP N 1 Panti Pasaman particular letter requesting permission for the use of capital letters is the qualifier "almost enough" with an average of 46%. Based on the results of these three aspects anaisis can be concluded that the ability of the Official Letter Grade Students SMP NI Panti Pasaman on qualification " less" with an average of 45.4 % at mastery level 36-45 % on a scale of 10.

Abstract

This research is distributed by the conflict in and around the maze of life of a character named Fanton Drummond are often faced with a less supportive environment desires. Formulation of this research is "how the psychology of character in a novel Olenka Fanton Drummond works Budi Darma review of aspects of the id, ego, and superego?" The purpose of this study is to describe and explain the conflict of the main character works Budi Darma novel Olenka review of aspects of the id, ego, and superego using the theory proposed by Sigmund Freud.This research is a qualitative study using descriptive methods. The data in this study in the form of text and dialogue monologue sentences. Data sources of this study is novel Olenka Budi Darma work. The research was carried out by stages: (1) read and understand the novel Olenka work Budi Darma, (2) identify and classify the data contained in the novel Olenka work Budi Darma, (3) determine the aspects of the conflict of the id, ego, and superego, (4 ) analyzing the data, (5) prove and formulate conclusions.Analysis of the data showed that the main character (Fanton Drummond) conflict, (1) aspects of id make Fanton Drummond has desires that are wild and not terkonrol to Olenka and MC, (2) aspects of the ego makes Fanton Drummond became hard to maintain figure impact on the opinion itself, (3) aspects of the superego made aware of his mistake Fanton Drummond who maintains his ego has been to make Fanton Drummond stuck into a variety of difficult situations. Suggestions in this study are not expected for readers concerned with the ego, and the balance between the id, ego, and superego.

Abstract

Background issue in this study is the lack of student interest in learning to write is to write a letter one of them his own license. Students prefer to ask for help to others and ask for help to write a letter permission. It happened because the students in writing including the fear of being wrong in choosing and determining parts and sub-parts of a letter and use proper diction, effective sentences and the use of spelling will be used. Destination this study was to describe the ability of junior high school students of class VII in terms of Padang Perti three aspects. First, the ability to write part of the license. Second, the ability to use diction. Third, the ability to use words effectively in writing to the schools license. This research is quantitative descriptive method. Descriptive method is used to describe the data obtained. The research sample of junior high school students of class VII Perti Padang taken 25% of the amount of each class. The data of this study is to school letters written permission sample with respect to parts and sub-parts of a letter, EYD, and effective sentence. The results illustrate that the ability to write a letter of permission Perti junior class VII Padang in using sections and sub sections permit the semi-official form letter is in good classification, with an average of 80. Terms of use EYD on classification hampr enough, with an average of 49.33, and in terms of effective use of the phrase is in the classification of almost pretty, with an average of 46.66. Based on three aspects of the above, the ability of students using the effective sentence is at 46.66 which is lowest classification and use parts and sub-parts of the permit form the semi-official letter is at the highest classification that is 80 by using quantitative research.

Abstract

The aim of research was to describe the types, the causes, and the effect of violence against the female figures in the collection of short stories Sagra written by Oka Rusmini. This was a qualitative research which used descriptive analysis method. The data of the research was in the form of words, sentences and dialogs related to the types, causes and effects of the violence against the female figures in the collection  of short stories Sagra written by Oka Rusmini involving characterization, settings, themes and plots elements. Based on the result of data analysis and discussion, it was concluded that  theree were there kids of violence occurred in the collection of short stories including physical and sexual abuses, and economic negligence which had made women suffered  from mental pressure. Furthermore, the violence was triggered by the external factors such as those relat5ed to husband and wife authorities, and discrimination of gender in a society. The effect of the violence against the female figures was the physical or mental disadvantages. This was chosely related to the physical condition of the respective female figure.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe: first, the ability to write short stories at student of class X SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Tarab in terms of student’s ability to develop plot, setting, and characterization. Second, the influence of using the copy master technique to the ability of writing the short stories for student of class X SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Tarab in terms of student’s ability to develop plot, setting, and characterization. This research is a quantitative study with experimental methods. Sample size was 20 respondents, taken with purposive sampling technique. The data of this study is the scores of the ability to write short stories at class X SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Tarab before and after using the copy master techniques. The data is analyzed and then conducted the t-test to determine the influence of using the copy master technique to the ability of writing the short stories for student of class X SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Tarab. Based on the research results, it was concluded the following three points. First, the ability to write short stories at class X SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Tarab before using the technique of the copies master are on Good (B) qualification with an average (77.45). Second, the ability to write short stories at class X SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Tarab after using the copy master techniques are on the Good (B) qualification with an average (85.7). Third, there is a significant influence in the using of the copy master techniques in teaching the short story writing at class X SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Tarab with toutput (2,34) > ttab1e (1.73). In other words, H1 is accepted and Ho is rejected. Thus, the copy master technique is ideal to be used in learning of writing the short stories.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the main character of moral values associated with a conscience, freedom and responsibility, rights and obligations, as well as the values and norms in the novel Pada Sebuah Kapal by Nh. Dini. This research is a qualitative study using descriptive methods . Object of this research is the novel Pada Sebuah Kapal by Nh. Dini. The data in this study in the form of words, sentences and dialogue related to the moral character of Sri and Michael. Sources of data in this study is novel Pada Sebuah Kapal by Nh. Dini. The results of this study demonstrate the value of the moral protagonist can be seen from the actions and behavior of characters in the form of speech, and events that made the main character played by individual leaders in Sri novel Pada Sebuah Kapal by Nh. Dini related to : (1) conscience, (2 ) freedom and responsibility, (3) the rights and obligations, (4) values and norms.

Abstract

Penguasaan deiksis penting dalam menentukan sesuai atau tidaknya tuturan seseorang dalam konteks tertentu. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan jenis deiksis yang digunakan dalam rubrik tajuk surat kabar  Haluan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif yaitu penelitian yang menghasilkan prosedur analisis yang tidak menggunakan prosedur analisis statistik. Metode deskriptif bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan deiksis dan jenis-jenisnya dalam rubrik tajuk.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam rubrik tajuk terdapat kelima jenis deiksis. Deiksis yang paling banyak digunakan deiksis tempat, yaitu sembilan puluh dua bentuk. Deiksis yang sedikit ditemukan deiksis sosial bagian penggunaan gelar, yaitu dua bentuk deiksis. Bagian penggunaan sapaan dua puluh tujuh bentuk deiksis, penggunaan eufemisme (kata halus) ditemukan enam belas  bentuk deiksis dan deiksis waktu ditemukan lima puluh empat bentuk deiksis. Deiksis wacana (anafora) ditemukan tujuh bentuk, deiksis wacana (katafora) ditemukan sebanyak lima bentuk. Deiksis yang tidak ditemukan, deiksis orang kata ganti orang pertama (tunggal) dan kata ganti orang kedua (tunggal dan jamak).
