Abstract

Swamp eel (Monopterus albus) is an economically important freshwater fish which has the potential to sustainable development. This species is considered as one of the taxonomically problematic spesies due to its complex characters and similar morphology to Monopterus cuchia and Monopterus javanensis that often lead to taxonomic dilemmas. Taxonomic certainty is an essential basis information in sustainable fisheries management, studies on morphometric characters, and genetic variability is a method which commonly used for species or stock identification. This study was aimed to validate the taxonomy certainty and evaluate the kinship of swamp eel from four populations (Indramayu, Subang, Tasikmalaya, and Garut distrik) in West Java. Morphometric analysis was conducted by measurement of 19 characters, whereas genetic analysis was conducted using PCR-Sequencing method of COI gene. The results from stepwise discriminant analysis showed that 7 morphometric characters ratio were powerful to classified the populations and the first two discriminant functions accounted 84.2% of the total variability. Genetic diversity indicated by alignment 14 sekuen of COI gene showed there were 11 haplotypes from 109 variable sites. Results of cluster and phylogenetic tree analysis indicated that swamp eel from four research populations were grouped into two major clusters. The first cluster consists of Indramayu and Subang population, the second cluster consists of Tasikmalaya and Garut population. This cluster is an evidence that swamp eel from West Java possesed morphometric and genetic diversity among populations and lead to assumption that at least there were two cryptic species from M. albus in West Java.

Abstract

Suatu penelitian untuk mengetahui pengaruh salinitas terhadap kelangsungan hidup dan pertumbuhan benih ikan sidat ( elver) telah dilaksanakan di laboratorium. Benih ikan sidat berukuran 7-10 cm dan berat 125-167 mg dipetihara pada akuariumakuarium yang diisi 10 I air selama 42 hari. Media dengan salinitas 0, 7, 14, dan 21 0/00 digunakan sebagai perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa salinitas 7 0 / 00 merupakan medium yang terbaik dan memberikan derajat kelangsungan hidup dan pertumbuhan yang tinggi.Kata-kata kunci : salinitas, benih, derajat kelangsungan hidup.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk dapat mengidentifikasi keberadaan varietas-varietas ikan gurame yang ada berdasarkan karakter luar (fenotip). Pada penelitian ini, 250 contoh ikan gurame yang berasal dari Parung (Bogor), telah digunakan sebagai hewan uji. Hasilpenelitian telab berhasil diidentifikasi keberadaan lima varietas ikan gurame (bule,blusafir, paris, bastar dan batu) berdasarkan karakter fenotip berupa warna, bentuk kepala, bentuk tubuh dan pola sisik.Kata-kata kunci: identifikasi, varietas, ikan gurame

Abstract

Ikan janjan bersisik (Parapocryptes sp) cukup banyak ditemukan di wilayah estuari atau daerah pertambakan.Penelitian mengenai kematangan gonad dan kebiasaan makanan ikan janjan bersisik dilakukan sejak Februari sampai Juni 2002. Pengambilan contoh dilakukan tiap bulan dengan menggunakan beberapa peralatan yaitu jaring insang (ukuran mata jaring 2.5 cm dan 4.5 cm), trammel net, sero dan bubu. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat kematangan gonad dan kebiasaan makanan ikan janjan bersisik. Pengamatan dilakukan terhadap tingkat kematangan gonad (TKG), diameter telur dan jenis makanan. Sedangkan analisis dilakukan untuk mengetahui indeks kematangan gonad (IKG), indeks kepenuhan lambung (IKL), indeks bagian terbesar (IP) dan kesamaan jenis makanan (IS) antara ikan jantan dan betina. Tingkat kematangan gonad ikan contoh (n = 72 ikan jantan, n = 57 ikan betina) bervariasi tergantung bulan pengamatan. Indeks kematangan gonad berkisar antara 0.05-0.25% untuk ikan jantan dan 0.40-1.64% untuk ikan betina, dengan nilai yang cukup tinggi pada bulan Juni. Diameter telur berkisar antara 0.020-0.479 mm, dengan lebih dari satu puncak sebaran yang menunjukkan adanya pola pemijahan parsial. Tingkat kepenuhan lambung ikan bervariasi, dan memiliki nilai yang cukup tinggi pada bulan Maret dan Juni. Jenis makanan ikan baik jantan ataupun betina relatif sama (IS = 77%), yang umumnya terdiri atas Bacillariophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Cyanophyceae dan Detritus.Kata kunci: ikan janjan bersisik (Parapocryptes sp.), kematangan gonad, kebiasaan makan.

Abstract

Characteristic of population biology of the “sepetang” clam has been studied inDumai mangrove ecosystem from November 2010 to October 2011. This researchwas to study the patterns of the population growth, mortality and recruitment ofthe clam P. acutidens. Sampling was monthlyfrom plot 1 m x 1 m quadratictransects. The result showed that growth pattern of P. acutidens was negativeallometric with asymptotic length (L∞) 92.71 mm.The annual growth coefficient(K) and total mortalitywere 0.59 and 1.87 per year, respectively. The naturalmortality was probably related to environmental condition. The recruitmentoccurred every month, the peaks occurred on April (15.93%) and August(13.16%).

Abstract

The limiting factor which is a weakness of sea water pearl production are high costs, the risk of major business failures and a long coating time. From the issue of freshwater pearls appear to have prospects of alternative substitution for sea water pearl. This present study aimed to evaluate effect of loads (the number and diameter nucleus) on freshwater pearl coating process and the number and size of the appropriate nucleus diameter, to produce the optimum coating thickness of half-round pearls. The research consists of experimental implantation of 2, 4, and 6 nucleus number per individual mussel was maintained by the method stocked in hapa in bottom waters. Observation method and factorial randomized block design used in the study of the influence of the load to the successfulness of  pearl coating and the pearl layer thickness. The results showed that A. woodiana can be utilized as a producer of freshwater pearls. In addition, the number of optimum nucleus that can be attached to the mussel A. woodiana was 2 grains/individuals with a diameter of 10 mm. Shells implanted with the optimum nucleus diameter and number of pearls produced the highest layer thickness of 17 mm after 9 months cultivation. This result was good enough compared with the layer thickness of sea water pearl production after the same cultivation time.

Abstract

Gebe Island is one of the islands in Central Halmahera of North Maluku Province. The island has a high potential of fishery resources both for capture and aquaculture fisheries. This activity was carried out from June 2011–September 2015, aimed to improve community’s skill to stock and rear the lobster (Panulirus spp.) in floating net cage at Umera and Umiyal Villages for community empowerment in the Gebe Island.  Methods of these activities were training and accompaniment. Smaller size lobsters (3–4 individual per kg) were collected naturally from the sea around the Gebe Island. Based on the observation, lobster farmers community of Umera and Umiyal Villages have been stocking and rearing the lobster. The community can also harvest and sell the lobster collected from the sea reared for 2–4 months in the floating net cage.

Abstract

Intensitas cahaya berpengaruh terhadap fungsi fisiologis dan struktur larva bivalvla. Penelitiaan ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh intensitas cahaya terhadap distribusi, pertumbuhan dan sintasan larva tiram mutiara Pinctada maxima. Rancangan acak lengkap dengan empatperlakuan intensitas cahayayaitu 0 (ditutup rapat), 200, 500, dan 800 lux, masing-masing dengan tiga ulangan diterapkan pada penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa distribusi larva dipengaruhi oleh intensitas cahaya, sedangkan intensitas cahaya optimum untuk sintasan dan pertumbuhan larva adalah 0-200 lux.Kata kunci : Larva, Pinctada maxima, respon, intensitas cahaya, distribusi, sintasan, pertumbuhan

Abstract

Suatu penelitian untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian glukosa ke dalam media pemeliharaan terhadap kelangsungan hidup laIVa ikan betutu, Oxyeleotris mamlOrata, Blkr telah dilaksanakan di laboratorium. LaIVa ikan betutu yang baru menetas (0 hari) dipelihara pada stoples beIVolume 1 liter dengan penambahan glukosa tertentu, sehingga tekanan osmotik berkisar antara ° -476,0 mOsm/kg H20. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media pemeliharaan laNa terbaik adalah 91,0 mOsm/kg H20 dan memberikan derajat kelangsungan hidup laIVa tertinggi sebesar : 94,44 % ,82,22 % dan 27,44 % pada jam ke 40,72 dan 120.Kata-kata kunci : glukosa, larva, derajat kelangsungan hidup

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kebiasaan makan tiram mutiara Pintada maxima. Penelitian dilaksanakan dari bulan Juni 2003 sampai Februari 2004 di perairan Teluk Sekotong Propinsi Lombok. Pengambilan contoh fitoplankton di perairan dilakukan setiap 3 jam sekali selama 24 jam antara pukul 06.00 - 03.00 WIB. Pada setiap pemgamatan diambil sebanyak 8 ekor tiram mutiara untuk sekali pengamatan. Untukmemperoleh gambaran kebiasaan makan tiram mutiara dilakukan analisis indeks pilihan. Pintada maxima memakan semua fitoplankton yang ada di lingkungannya. Tiram mutiara tidak melakukan seleksi terhadap jenis makanannya yang terdapat di alam, tetapi menyeleksi makanannya berdasarkan ukuran makanannya. Tiram mutiara menyukai makanan yang memiliki ukuran lebih kecil. Persentase jenis-jenis fitoplanktonyang disukai tiram mutiara berturut-turut adalah kelas Bacillariophyceae, Dinophyceae, Ciliata, Chrisophyta, Cyanophyceae, Chlorophyceae dan moluska.Kata kunci: kebiasaan makan, Pintada maxima, Teluk Sekotong
