Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving abilities need to be owned by prospective mathematics teachers so that they can teach it to their students later. Integral Calculus course is a course that students need to understand the next course, as well as a course that is closely related to school mathematics. This study aims to look at the significance difference in students problem-solving ability related to video learning implementation. The research design used was a nonequivalent control group design with the subject of 71 mathematics education students from two universities in Indonesia. The instrument used was a calculus prior knowledge test and mathematical problem-solving test, each of which consisted of 3 questions. Based on the statistical test, it was found that the mathematical problem-solving abilities of the two research groups differed significantly. The subject group who used the instructional video had better problem-solving abilities than the subject group whose learning used virtual face-to-face

Abstract

Student achievement in the national science olympiad in mathematics needs to be improved. One way that can be done is to describe the types of student errors in solving math OSN problems. And the learning styles of students. The research subjects were representative students from Ambon Catholic Junior High School for the Mathematics OSN at the district/city level, totaling one person. Data collection techniques were carried out by giving tests in the form of descriptions, interviews, and learning style questionnaires. The results showed that students made errors based on Newman's analysis, namely, reading errors, understanding questions, and transforming errors once each, processing skills errors and writing errors in the final answer 4. The results of the learning style questionnaire, students have a visual learning style. Some recommendations based on the results of this study are teachers need to provide assistance to students by paying attention to student learning styles.

Abstract

Differential calculus and integral calculus courses are the foundations of mathematics that are important in understanding and applying differential equations. Students can take the Differential Equation course on condition that they have graduated from the Differential Calculus and Integral Calculus courses. This study aims to determine the relationship between the understanding of differential and integral calculus with students' learning outcomes of differential equations. The population in this study were all 2020 Pattimura University Teaching and Teacher Training Faculty Mathematics Education students who had taken differential calculus, integral calculus, and differential equations courses with a total sample of 33 people. The research method used is quantitative research with correlational methods. This study uses multiple regression analysis which has the aim of finding the form and influence between the independent variables and the dependent variable. Data analysis technique using multiple regression test. Based on the results of the data analysis, it was concluded that there was a significant contribution between learning outcomes of differential calculus on learning outcomes of differential equations seen in the relative contribution of learning outcomes of differential calculus on learning outcomes of differential equations based on the calculation results obtained 56.45% while the relative contribution of learning outcomes of integral calculus 43 .54% of the learning outcomes of differential equations. So it shows that there is a big influence between learning outcomes of differential calculus and integral calculus on learning outcomes of differential equation.

Abstract

Abstract

This research is quasi-experimental research that aims to see the improvement of students' mathematical problem-solving abilities on derived material using M-APOS learning. Data analysis using statistical tests on the pretest, post-test, and normalized gain data. Data analysis was carried out with the help of Microsoft Office Excel and SPSS 24 software. The research sample was 66 people who took the differential calculus course. The research instrument is a mathematical problem-solving ability test in the form of a description of four items. This study concludes that there are differences in the increase in mathematical problem-solving abilities of students who receive M-APOS learning with students who receive expository learning. Furthermore, students gave a positive response to M-APOS learning.
