Abstract

Fertilizers used by farmers today is  artificial fertilizers (inorganic). The use of artificial fertilizer would cause the soil structure damaged due to artificial fertilizer will only provide nutrients to plants without regard to the soil fertility. Finally, food productivity will decrease and food security will be so weak. To overcome this, there needs to be a good fertilizer that meets nutrient for plants and soil. To overcome this, a good fertilizer that meets nutrient for plants and soil is very necessary. The use of biomass and farm waste to increase the value of agricultural wastes is so potential to be organic fertilizer. Composting organic materials can produce humic acid. Humic acid is able to absorb nutrients from the environment exploited by plant roots and transferred into the root cap. The purpose of study is to produce humic acid from agricultural and livestock waste. The method of this study is the extraction. Stages of this study are preparation, composting, humic acid isolation, and purification of humic acid. The results of this study showed the highest levels of humic acid is 48.08%.

Abstract

One of the concepts of indigenous science that can be explored is local knowledge of traditional salt production. This study aims to describe the condition of indigenous science of Central Java salt farmers in the salt production process. The design of this research is survey and descriptive research. This research uses qualitative research approach through ethnosains. The background of this research is salt farming area located in two regencies in Central Java, namely Jepara and Pati districts. This research is a qualitative research. Researchers in this study relate to several key informants (key person) and other informants and involve respondents and research participants. The next informant was determined based on the instruction of the selected key informant using purposive and snowball sampling principles. The process of data analysis in this study is done simultaneously and cyclic with the data collection process. It also uses data triangulation techniques through analysis of several data sources be it primary or secondary data. The result of this research is document of indegenousscience condition of farmer daram in traditional salt production process. Furthermore, the document can be developed into teaching materials based on local wisdom.Key words: local wisdom, indegeneous science, salt farmers, teaching  materials

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the small-scale chemistry approach in the practicum, as well as to show various Pre-service Science Teachers’ impressions. This research is action research involving 69 Pre-service Science Teachers (PSTs), 15 males and 54 females. Collecting data using documentation techniques at each stage of practicum activities, as well as reflection sheets. The results of the documentation are presented and analyzed using narrative descriptions, while the results of the reflections from the PSTs are coded and grouped into (1) the most memorable experiment, (2) positive impressions, and (3) negative impressions. The practicum covers five topics, namely (1) separation of the mixture (filtration), (2) reaction rate, (3) oxidation and reduction reactions (electrolysis), (4) heat transfer (calorimeter), and (5) acid-base solution. The practicum that gave the most impressive was the practicum on acid-base solutions (41.2%), while the one that got the least impressive was the practicum on calorimeters (4.4%). Many positive impressions that appear in practicum activities are “low-cost”, “colorful”, “easy to carry”, “hard to break”, “material savings”, and “more understandable”. The most negative impressions that appear in the series of implementation activities are “limited tools”, “too small-scale tools” and “inaccuracy”. The result of the teacher's reflection finally considers the impression of "limited tools", "material limitation", and "too simple" to be a consideration in developing further practicum activities with the SSC approach.

Abstract

The study aims to prepare lecturers on reflective pedagogy paradigm (RPP). This research was a mixed method. It was conducted with nine students and a model lecturer (mantee) who underwent mentoring. It was held in 4 meetings and observed by two observers. The assessment was conducted using data triangulation to a model lecturer based on video recording, reflection by mantee and students. The measure of process success was based on video recordings by ≥70%. The lecturer’s reflection to demonstrate the readiness in the teaching, and the student’s reflection is ≥ 60%. The results of mantee and student at every stage are: 81%, 69%, 88%, and 50%; 72%, 92%, 73%, and 85% of context, experience, reflection, and action. The results of the evaluation there was a significant difference before and after the learning based on RPP (p = 0.035). So, mentees was able to manage RPP and able to make students active to learn from theory to practice.
