Abstract

The health of periodontal tissue or tooth support is strongly influenced by a person's hormonal condition. In women of childbearing age, hormonal contraception is often an option, either orally, injected, or implanted. This study aims to analyze the effect of hormonal contraception on periodontal tissue. The manuscript deals with the effect of hormonal contraception on periodontal health with several indicators including loss of gum attachment (LoA), gingival index (GI), and pocket depth (PD). The three reviewers conducted a systematic review following the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis) protocol to obtain 9 articles that met the criteria. Statistical analysis to obtain the effect size was carried out using a random effect model with the help of Revman 5.3 software. The results of the meta-analysis showed that hormonal contraception provided a large size effect on pocket depth (SMD=2.16; CI=0.79, 3.3; I2=98%) and on the gingival index (SMD=4.37; CI=0.75,7.99; I2=99%) . Likewise for loss of attachment (SMD = 1.25; CI = 0.42.2.08; I2 = 98%), It can be concluded in this study that the use of hormonal contraception has an influence on periodontal health.

Abstract

Abstract Dental and oral health problems in Indonesia tend to increase, namely in 2018 (57.6%) compared to 2013 (25.9%) and 2007 (23.4%), Jambi Province (45%) and Muaro District Jambi (33.96%). The proportion of correct dental behavior in the age group above 3 years in Jambi Province is only 1% and Muaro Jambi Regency (1.16%), the lowest nationally. Marlia and Silfia (2019) that counseling with videos in the Jambi regional language is effective in improving dental skills in Pelempang Village children. As a follow-up, it is hoped that family health education efforts can increase the degree of difficulty in the Dusun Pengeratan community using the Jambi regional language video. This service is carried out using the Community Partnership Program (PKM) method through counseling, demonstrations and assistance to the Dusun Pengeratan community in maintaining health problems. The results of this PKM found that there was an increase in the knowledge and skills of respondents in maintaining mental health problems in Dusun Pengeratan. Abstract

Indonesia cenderung mengalami peningkatan masalah kesehatan gigi dan mulut yaitu tahun 2018 (57,6%) dibandingkan tahun 2013 (25,9%) dan tahun 2007 (23,4%), Provinsi Jambi (45%) dan Kabupaten Muaro Jambi (33,96%). Provinsi Jambi perilaku menyikat gigi yang benar untuk usia di atas 3 tahun hanya 1% dan Kabupaten Muaro Jambi (1,16%), proporsi terendah secara nasional. Video berbahasa daerah Jambi digunakan untuk penyuluhan efektif meningkatkan keterampilan menyikat gigi pada anak Suku Anak Dalam di Desa Pelempang. Materi pendidikan kesehatan keluarga ini menggunakan video berbahasa daerah Jambi. Pengabdian ini bertujuan melalui pendidikan kesehatan keluarga dan peranan orang tua dapat meningkatkan derajat kesehatan gigi dan mulut pada masyarakat RT 12 Desa Pelempang. Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan dengan metode Program Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) melalui penyuluhan, demontrasi dan penggunaan android wifi untuk digunakan masyarakat RT 12 Desa Pelempang menonton video tentang pemeliharaan kesgilut. Hasil PKM ini menemukan ada peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan responden dalam pemeliharaan kesgilut di RT 12 Desa Pelempang.
