Abstract

Harapan Makmur Farmer Group is one of dairy farmer group in Padang. Located at Air Dingin, Balai Gadang, Koto Tangah district. Implementation of community service aims to develop a group of dairy farmers by providing knowledge in the form of the importance of hygiene and milking sanitation sanitation on milk quality. The specific target of this activity is to ensure the safety of milk consumed by the public in accordance with Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 2011 which contain minimum 3% of fat, 2.7% of protein, 8% solid non fat (SNF) and maximum contaminated with 1x106 CFU/ml of microba. This community service using the transfer knowledge method, that was counseling, discussion, and pilot project. Brochures were used to support this community service activity. Guidance and coaching for farmers were carried out periodically through coordination with the group leader. This community service program was beneficial in the implementation of science and information on hygienic maintenance of dairy cows and the application of good milking sanitation. The quality of milk produced Harapan Makmur farmer groups after this community service program has fulfilled SNI standardssuch as fat content 4.02% , protein 3.56%, and total plate count (TPC) 2.5x105 CFU/ml, but still low in SNF that is 6.95%, it’s caused by improper feeding manajement, where cows consume too much tofu dregs that contain high water content. Farmers are expected to implementa good dairy maintenance management to improve milk quality, so that it will increase the selling price which also followed by increased income and welfare of farmers.

Abstract

The dedication was held on 2 (two) groups of farmers in Padang Panjang, which Farmers Group Permata Ibu and Lembah Makmur. The problems that be founded were (1) the production of milk was still low, (2) the lacked of diversification of products and packaging technology, (3). lacked of market segmentation. These activities provided information to improve the quality and quantity of milk production. Providing products diversification Technologies such as making yogurt, ice cream and milk pudding method. Then all of these products were packed by using innovations such as the use of plastic cups and aluminum foil that has been labeled the farmer groups. Market expansion was conducted in several schools, cafes and restaurants in Padang Panjang City.

Abstract

Peternak sapi potong hanya mendapatkan penghasilan tahunan ketika penjualan sapi, amun tidak memiliki pendapatan pekanan atau bulanan dari beternak tersebut. Salah satu cara untuk menigkatkan pendapatan peternak di Sipujuk Farm adalah dengan mengelola kotoran sapi yang tidak bernilai dan malah menjadi sumber polusi dan merusak lingkungan menjadi pupuk organik yang bernilai ekonomis yang dapat memberikan pendapatan rutin bagi peternak dan lingkungan juga dapat terpelihara. Peternakan sapi potong di Si Pujuk Farm menghasilkan limbah yang meliputi kotoran berupa limbah padat, cair, gas, ataupun sisa pakan. Kotoran ternak yang dihasilkan di Si Pujuk Farm belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal, diantaranya terbuang begitu saja, sehingga sering mencemari lingkungan dengan bau yang tidak sedap sehingga mengganggu kenyamanan lingkungan. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah meningkatkan ekonomi dari peternak dengan cara meningkatkan nilai ekonomis kotoran sapi menjadi pupuk organik memanfaatkan mikroorganisme lokal (MOL) kuli buah. Metode yang digunakan adalah observasi, sosialisasi, pelatihan, pembinaan dan evaluasi. Berdasarkan pengabdian yang telah dilaksanakan, Sipujuk Farm sudah mendapat merealisasikan pembuatan MOL yang ekonomis dan berkualitas dari limbah kulit buah terutama kulit nenas dan memproduksi pupuk organik yang berkualitas dan dapat dijual secara komersil

Abstract

The aims of the present research were to study the effect of time periods of electrics stimulation and muscle type on water content, pH and cooking loss of meat of pesisir cattle. This research was designed according to factorial attempt pattern 3 x 3 based on Randomized Block Design (RBD). The treatments were 3 levels of electric stimulated time, i.e. A1 = 1 minute, A2 = 2 minutes and A3 = 3 minutes as A factor, for the B factor is the muscle they are B1 = Longisimus dorsi, B2 = Supra spinatus and B3 = Biceps femoris. Results showed that water content of meat pesisir cattle ranged from 78.17 - 77.41 %, pH 6.03- 5.70 and cooking loss ranged from 42.31 - 37.96. The electric stimulated didn't give significant effect (P>0.05) on water content and pH, but cooking loss percentage decreased signtficantly (P<0.05) by increasing the time periods of electric stimulation time. Muscle type gave significant effect (P<0.05) on cooking loss.

Abstract

This community service (PKM) activity aimed to increase the knowledge and skills of breeders in processing and preserving agricultural waste as a solution for feed security. The specific objective to be achieved was to increase livestock production through the provision of feed according to livestock needs, both in terms of quality and quantity. This PKM activity was carried out at the Harapan Sejahtera Farmer Group located in Aia Pacah Village, Koto Tangah District, Padang City. Counseling and practice provided to breeders were in the form of processing Sweet Corn Straw Silage (Zea mays saccharata Sturt) and Rice Straw (Oryza sativa) into Ammoniation. The method used in empowering the target group was learning techniques in the form of providing theory, counseling and practice to members of the target group. The result of this activity showed that the Harapan Sejahtera Farmers Group can provide motivation to farmers to process agricultural waste into quality feed. After counseling, farmers become aware and motivated in processing agricultural waste into quality feed for feed security, especially in the dry season. In addition, managing agricultural waste, and turned it into beneficial products with economic value.

Abstract

Pengabdian pada masyarakat ini di laksanakan pada kelompok peternak sapi potong Kubang Saiyo, yang terletak di Kelurahan Limau Manis Selatan, Kecamatan Pauh, Kota Padang. Permasalahan kelompok sasaran dalam menjalankan usaha adalah 1) keterbatasan pengetahuan dan keterampilan anggota kelompok peternak dalam pengadaan pakan alternatif bagi ternak sapi yang di pelihara ,dan 2) pupuk Organik Padat (POP) yang di hasilkan oleh kelompok belum jelas kandungan unsur haranya karena belum uji labor, sehingga kualitasnya juga belum jelas. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah 1) introduksi inovasi pakan Urea Molases Blok (UMB) untuk ternak sapi yang di pelihara anggota kelompok dan 2) meningkatkan kualitas POP yang dihasilkan kelompok melalui uji laboratorium. Upaya menyelesaikan permasalahan mitra dilakukan dengan metode penyuluhan sosialisasi, demonstrasi dan pendekatan fasilitasi. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian adalah Anggota kelompok sasaran kegiatan penyuluhan sudah memiliki tambahan pengetahuan tentang teknologi pakan Urea Molases Blok (UMB), serta sudah memiliki keterampilan dalam memberikannya pada ternak sapi yang di pelihara dan`produk Pupuk Organik Padat (POP) yang dimiliki oleh mitra sudah di fasilitasi oleh tim pengabdian untuk di lakukan proses uji labor dan sudah memiliki kandungan yang jelas sehingga dapat meningkatkan kualitas produk. Kata kunci: introduksi inovasi, inovasi pakan, produktifitas usaha peternakan, pupuk Organik Padat (POP) dan Urea Molases Blok (UMB) ABSTRACT This community service is carried out in the Kubang Saiyo beef cattle farmer group, which is located in the South Limau Manis Village, Pauh District, Padang City. The problems of the target group in running a business are 1) the limited knowledge and skills of members of the farmer group in procuring alternative feeds for cattle that are raised, and 2) The Solid Organic Fertilizer (SOF) produced by the group is not yet clear on its nutrient content because it has not been tested in labor, so the quality is also unclear. The objectives of this activity are 1) Introducing the Urea Molasses Block (UMB) feed innovation for cattle raised by group members and 2) Improving the quality of SOF produced by the group through laboratory tests. Efforts to solve partner problems are carried out using outreach methods, demonstrations and facilitation approaches. The results of the service activities are that members of the target group of counseling activities already have additional knowledge about Urea Molasses Block (UMB) feed technology, and already have skills in giving it to cattle that are kept and Solid Organic Fertilizer (SOF) products owned by partners have facilitated by the service team to carry out a labor test process and already have a clear content so that it can improve product quality. Abstract

Tujuan kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan petani peternak dalam mengolah danmengawetkan limbah pertanian sebagai solusi ketahanan pakan. Target khusus yang ingin dicapai antara lain peningkatan produksi ternak melalui penyediaan pakan sesuai kebutuhan ternak baik dari aspek kualitas maupun kuantitas. Kegiatan PKM dilaksanakan di Kelompok Tani Harapan Sejahtera yang berlokasi di Kelurahan Aia Pacah, Kecamatan Koto Tangah Kota Padang. Penyeluhan dan praktek yang diberikan kepada peternak adalah pengolahan silase jerami jagung manis (Zea mays saccharata Sturt) dan Jerami padi (Oryza sativa) menjadi amoniasi. Metode yang digunakan dalam melakukan pemberdayaan kelompok sasaran adalah teknik pembelajaran dalam bentuk pemberian teori, penyuluhan dan praktek kepada anggota kelompok sasaran. Luaran dari pengabdian ini adalah Kelompok Tani Harapan Sejahtera dapat memberikan motivasi kepada peternak untuk mengolah limbah pertanian menjadi pakan berkualitas. Setelah dilakukan penyuluhan peternak menjadi paham dan termotivasi dalam mengolah limbah pertanian menjadi pakan berkualitas untuk ketahanan pakan khususnya di musim kemarau. Luaran lain dari pengabdian ini adalah mengelola limbah pertanian menjadi produk yang bermafaat dan bernilai ekonomi. Abstract

Goats are one of the small ruminants as meat and milk producers (dual-purpose), but cow's milk is widely sold in the market. Goat milk is no less nutritious than cow's milk; besides having an advantage in protein content, goat milk also contains more vitamins A and B (especially riboflavin and niacin). One of the goats widely cultivated by farmers and utilized as a source of animal protein, meat, and milk is the Ettawa crossbred goat. As researchers have widely reported, the potential of Ettawa crossbred goats is that milk producers are still very diverse, ranging between 0.45 and 2.2 kg/head/day. This is generally caused by maintenance management, which still needs to be improved. The purpose of this service is to counsel Azhar Farm farms on the management of raising Ettawa crossbred goats to get maximum productivity. The methods used are counseling, training, coaching, discussion, and evaluation of service activities. The activity results include improving farmers' ability to apply the management of raising Ettawa crossbred goats, which are dairy-type goats (milk producers), and increasing their productivity. It is hoped that this activity can motivate farmers to develop their livestock business to improve livestock health, increase population, increase production, and increase income for farmers.

Abstract

The low productivity of smallholder dairy cattle in Indonesia is due to limited capital and feed management. Limited land ownership, resulting in feeding from low-quality natural grasses and agricultural waste, limits milk production. Farmers rely on expensive commercial concentrate feed to improve feed quality. Efforts to improve productivity and milk quality on smallholder farms include utilizing low-cost, high-nutrient forages. Legume forages have the potential to replace commercial concentrates in dairy cow rations because they contain high crude protein (CP) and can increase livestock productivity. Using legumes as a substitute for commercial concentrates can reduce milk production costs by up to 20%. In Indonesia, the most widely cultivated legume crop is Gliricidia. Harapan Makmur Farmer Group is one of the few dairy cattle groups established in Padang City in 2011. The problem of the dairy cattle business is the high feed price, some of which comes from commercial feed. The activity method uses counseling, discussion, and the practice of making sweet corn silage mixed with Gliricidia. These activities concluded that farmers were utilizing forage from legumes to substitute commercial concentrates, and they were skilled in processing corn straw waste from sweet corn cultivation and Gliricidia into silage.
