Abstract

Abstract

The agricultural sector has a very important role in building the economy in Indonesia. Because in this sector its role is related to providing employment, providing food, contributing to foreign exchange through exports and so on. With the strength of the agricultural sector in terms of supply and demand, agriculture will be able to support and establish links with other sectors of economic activity. The agricultural sector itself has several sub-sectors, including food crops or food crops sub-sector (better known as smallholder agriculture), plantation sub-sector, livestock sub-sector, forestry sub-sector, and fishery sub-sector. One of the plantation commodities that deserves to be developed to build economic resilience is Arabica coffee. In Indonesia, Arabica coffee is one of the plantation crops that has a strategic role and has the opportunity to be developed, because Arabica coffee is the main source of industrial raw materials. At first the use of Arabica coffee beans was dominated for direct consumption. However, currently the use of Arabica coffee beans is mostly used for industrial needs with various types of coffee drinks being produced and coupled with the increasing number of requests along with the increase in population and the increasing need for industrial raw materials in Indonesia. Supply is the number of agricultural commodities offered by producers or sellers. Meanwhile, the law of supply basically states that the higher the price of an item, the more the quantity of that item will be offered by producers/sellers assuming other factors do not change. The total supply of a good is the total production of each unit of production in one production period plus the remainder from the previous period. If production is driven by net income, changes in agricultural output are due to changes in relative prices. The supply curve of a firm represents the maximum quantity of goods that are willing to be produced for sale at any given time, at various price levels

Abstract

Development and development of the quality of farming communities in carrying out farming is one aspect that supports the creation of increased agricultural production and productivity, so that profits can be increased. Agricultural development, especially horticultural crops that have been implemented, has made a positive contribution to economic development. The clearer and more obvious that the economic system is, the more it is influenced by the agricultural sector. This sector has an impact on the sustainability of the income of farmers in an area.Cultivation of vegetable crops in Indonesia is generally carried out with monoculture and polyculture cropping patterns. Monoculture is a cultivation system in an area of land planted with only one type of plant. Meanwhile, polyculture is a system of plant cultivation in the same area of land in one year planted with several types of plants, both planted at the same time or slightly different times. The development of pests and diseases tends to occur more easily in monoculture cropping patterns because food sources for pests and pathogens are always available. On the other hand, a polyculture cropping pattern followed by a crop rotation pattern can break the life cycle of pests and diseases.Crop rotation has many advantages. In some organic crop cultivation systems, crop rotation is highly recommended. Some of the advantages of crop rotation are that it can reduce the intensity of pest or disease attacks, increase soil fertility, and crop rotation is highly recommended. Some of the advantages of crop rotation are that it reduces the intensity of pest or disease attacks, increases soil fertility, and is able to form a stable micro-ecosystem. In addition, in the agribusiness world, several types of commodities, especially vegetables, are able to meet the desired market demand.

Abstract

This research took place in Buluh Awar Village, Sibolangit District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province. Determination of the research location was carried out by purposive sampling (intentionally), using the census method. Starting in the starting month in November 2021.Deli Serdang Regency is one of the centers for producing high quality palm sugar, a potential area for palm sugar processing businesses in North Sumatra Province, to be precise in Sibolangit District, Buluh Awar Village. Processing of palm sugar is carried out by the people of Buluh Awar Village with raw materials derived from palm plants that have begun to be cultivated. Sugar palm processing is intended to increase the added value of the raw material for the sap. These advantages include the added value of agro-industry by preserving agricultural products into processed products that are more durable and ready for consumption (Anonymous, 2010).This study aims to (1) analyze the type of added value and the value added from palm sap processing business into palm sugar in the research area. (2) analyze the availability of business inputs for processing palm sap into palm sugar in the study area. (3) knowing the business income of processing palm sap into palm sugar in the study area. (4) analyzing the feasibility of processing palm sap into palm sugar in the study area. The output of this internal research is the final report and is published in the online journal system (OJS) of Quality University Agrotechnoscience and additional outputs: Quality University local webinar.
