Abstract

ABSTRACT                Microalgae are very potential to be developed as biofuel feedstocks when compared to food crops because they have several advantages such as rapid growth, high productivity, enabling the use of freshwater and seawater, and production costs are not too high. Spirulinaplatensis has a high nutrient content so it is used as a health food ingredient. Once the importance of the role of nutritional value of S. platensis for humans and some marine organisms, then the right culture medium to get the maximum nutritional content needs to be studied more deeply. This study aims to determine the effect of different doses of nutrition on the density of biomass cultivation of S. platensis microalgae with indoor and semi outdoor system. This research has been conducted from April to May 2018. The method by used the experimental method. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using simple linear regression equation. The results showed that the influence in the dose of nutris media guillard, S.platensis increased with the dose of nutrients as much as 0.60 ml either indoor or semi outdoor system. The relationship experienced between biomass with different doses of nutrients is a positive medium with both indoor and semi-outdoor systems, this can be seen from the results of simple linear regression test, namely r = 0.3443 for indoor system and r = 0.4492 for semi-outdoor system. As for the amount of biomass density S. platensis in the semi-outdoor system the amount of biomass density is higher than the indoor system.Key words: Microalga, Spirulina platensis, Sediment, Media Guillard

Abstract

ABSTRACT Lactic acid bacteria (BAL) have the ability to inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria. BAL is bacterium that has an important role in the processof fermentation of organic materials. BAL can be found in traditional fishery products such as cincaluk (fermented shrimp). This study was conducted from February to April 2018. Test of isolate activity of BAL and protease enzyme was carried out at Marine Microbiology Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Scince, University of Riau. The study aimed was to examine the BAL activity of cincaluk against pathogenic bacteria and tested the protease enzyme produced by BAL from the cincaluk produced the community in Bengkalis and Tembilahan, Riau. This research used survey method where fresh cincaluk sample was used as abservation object in isolating the BAL and testing antagonism against three different pathogenic bacteria (Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus). The results of antagonism test showed that all bacterial isolated have ability to inhibit the growth of the three pathogenic bacteria. The highest inhibition zone P.aeruginosawas demonstrated by a GT isolate (11.0 mm), toward the highest inhibition zone against E. coliwas indicated by PB isolate (8.7 mm), and toward S. aureuswasdemonstrated by MB isolate (6.6 mm). All bacterial isolates produced protease enzyme indicated by clear zone around the colonies on skim milk medium. Keywords: BAL, Antagonism, Inhibition zone, Pathogens, Protease

Abstract

Floating cage (KJA) is one of the most intensive aquaculture activities carried out in the country and the number is increasing, including in the Koto Panjang Hydroelectric Lake, Kampar. In this area, this business has been started since 1995 and continues to grow rapidly and reaches its peak in 2010-2012. In the following years, the business began to be relatively stagnant and profits from entrepreneurs continued to decline. As a result, many entrepreneurs went bankrupt and closed businesses. With this background, the writer is interested in making a pilot business unit as a role model for the right business management pattern for KJA businesses. This community service activity aims to help fish cage entrepreneurs in business management through direct examples of similar businesses. The counselling and coaching methods used are demonstrations through direct pilot and informal communication with fostered entrepreneurs. This role model began to be built since 2010, starting from 6 cage units, the business is growing and currently, there are 60 cage units. However, more intensive coaching activities have been carried out since 2012. A total of 5 entrepreneurs were targeted as the main target. As a result of these 5 entrepreneurs, several other entrepreneurs have begun to imitate the business management patterns applied in the role model and they are still able to survive and start a new step in developing the business.
