Abstract

Research was conducted at a location in Pekanbaru city. On this location has two test line at a distance from each other as far as 3 m, which for each testing line will be tested by using 2D geoelectric Wenner and dipole-dipole arrays then performed data processing by software Res2dinv. In addition, there will be handbor and laboratory testing for the soil in depth 1, 2, and 3 m to determine the soil classifications. And then, this result will be compared or matched with geoelectric result. Generally, the geoelectric (soil resistivity) results from the both arrays is sufficient to represent the actual potention of underground conditions. That can be evidenced with have suitability result between geoelectric, handbor, and laboratory test. In this result, Wenner array gives better result than dipole-dipole array. Wenner array gives resistivity range more closer and layers of the soil are easier to interpret than dipole-dipole array. Keywords: Resistivity, Geoelectric, Wenner, dipole-dipole

Abstract

preliminary study is needed to provide a general overview as well as the characteristics of the local soil conditions. So, we need an estimate of the local soil conditions and characteristics based on soil conditions and characteristics that have been known about the condition and characteristics, in order for a plan to be more efficient. Basically one soil parameter that is needed in the design of index compression (compression index) can be found using the correlation formula. This study aims to find the correlation formula recommendations more precise than some formula to use in calculating or predicting the value of index compression. Hand drill data obtained from the Laboratory of Soil Mechanics. To find a correlation formula recommendations, used some statistical parameters such as mean, standard deviation, and correlation index. Zoning analysis results showed that the thickness of the soft soil in general area of Pekanbaru has soft soil thickness was (a thickness of ten to fifteen feet). Zoning analysis results showed that the level of congestion ground Pekanbaru City area has a moderate level of congestion ground. From the evaluation of the correlation formula, based on static parameters obtained correlation formula recommendations azzous et al (1976) that Cc = 0:40 (E-0.25) and Cc = -0156 + + 0.00058wn sebgai 0.41eo correlation formula is best used in Pkenabaru. Keywords: soft ground, index compression, empirical correlations, the statistical parameters

Abstract

In constructing the roadway, subgrade is the important part to supporting the whole traffic load/construction load above. The bearing capacity of subgrade influences the flexible pavement, if bearing capacity is higher, then the application of flexible pavement is fewer to support the traffic load. Subgrade is affected by type of soil, density of soil, water content and others (Hendarsin, 2000). Generally, design of parking area uses the geometric design of road method. This case is inappropriate with actual condition, because the load support to parking area is static load. Nowdays, parking area planning uses CBR's data, while CBR is used to dynamic load estimation. Therefore, this research will be doing study about correlation between CBR value and UCS. Abstract

Soil characteristic in field did not always meet specifications in planning to carrying out construction works . A good construction such as roads, buildings , and other construction will be able to last long if its supported by a good foundation soil ( Hartosukma , 2005) . One of the site project of Pekanbaru, there are soils are fragile when seen by direct eyes and can cause problems in the construction field. Therefore , the research would take up to study the characteristics of soils “soap” at the site project of Pekanbaru Mayor’s Office Development through the physical and mechanical properties of the soil type .Keywords: “ Soap ” Soils, Characteristics, Pekanbaru

Abstract

The island of Sumatra is the region with the highest quake intensity. Earthquakes in Aceh, Nias, Mentawai, and Padang caused a wave of vibration in the surrounding area. In Pekanbaru many buildings are built on peat soil with sand as an embankment. Liquefaction potentially occur in the earthquake propagation zone. Liquefaction is the transformation of soil state from solid to liquid. Liquefaction potential can be analyzed based on field test and laboratory test. Laboratory test was conducted using a one-way shaking table. Vibrating table moves in a horizontal and opposite direction in a vertical direction. The acceleration variations used are 0.25g and 0.32g. Peat soil thickness used 10 cm. Sand embankment thickness used 15 cm with gradation variation and water level as high as embankment thickness. Distributed load used 40kg/m2. Evaluation of liquefaction potential by analyzing soil surface settlement observation, excess pore water pressure and effective vertical stress. The measurement of pore water pressure was measured using 0.5 mm diameter glass pipe. Soil settlement measured by using ruler. The results of the test show that along with increasing acceleration, the bigger soil settlement and pore water increment will be. Grain size is very influential on the occurrence of liquefaction potential. The test results shows that the fine graded sand had maximum settlement and excess pore water pressure so that itnhas the most extreme effective vertical stress. Well graded sand tends to stable but on 0,32g acceleration it has effective vertical stress value less than zero. Keywords : liquefaction, excess pore water pressure, shaking table, grain size

Abstract

CBR (California Bearing Ratio) is one method for determining the bearing capacity of the subgrade . In highway planning , subgrade bearing capacity will affect the pavement thickness, the higher bearing capacity of subgrade makes the pavement thickness which needed to withstand the traffic load is getting thinner. Research conducted at the Laboratory of the CBR value is generally only done on the condition of the water content in a state of OMC and saturated, this study investigated the changes of CBR value with moisture content in the range of OMC to saturated of the sandy clay soils, and with clay in different contents. The results of this study indicate that, when the soil is compacted at OMC conditions, increasing contents of clay reduce CBR values, and submersion decreases CBR values of 14,294% at the top of sample and of 13,167 % at the bottom of sample. When soil is compacted with moisture content above OMC, increasing contents of water reduce CBR values.  Key Words: CBR, clay, water content

Abstract

The load distribution of shallow foundation spread out along the width of the foundation. Ultimate bearing capacity is defined as the maximum load that can be supported by the footing. Some form of shallow foundation were square, rectangular and circular shapes were they made to analyze the influence of the foundation over the same area of the shallow foundation bearing capacity due to axial loads on sandy soil. Variations foundation area of 100 cm2, 150 cm2 and 200 cm2. In the same area, the square shape can withstand greater load than in rectangular and circular shapes. Addition area will make 50-100% in weight-bearing capacity increased from 102,016 to 157,661% for squares, 135,751 to 228,497% for the rectangle and circle 187,413 to 341.259%. There are differences in the results of observation and empirical formula. Shape factors of squares and circles according to Mayerhof, Vesic and Hansen are the same. So, Terzaghi`s formula was similiar phenomenom with this research. Keywords : Shallow foundation, shapes, dimension, sand
