Abstract

This study aims to determine the quality figures of 21st century-based multi-representation assessments on linear motion material. Type of this research is Research & Development (R&D). Data were analyzed using an assessment validity test by an expert and empirical assessment quality test to obtain quality figures in the form of validity, reliability, level of difficulty, and discrimination power. The results of the preliminary field testing analysis showed 58.33% items were declared valid and 41.67% items were declared invalid. Test items have very high reliability with a value of 0.877. The proportion of the level of difficulty is not ideal, that is equal to 58.33% of questions categorized as difficult and 41.67% of questions categorized as sufficient. The discrimination power of the questions is 8.34% of the questions in a good category, 22.22% are sufficient, 58.33% are bad, and 11.11% are very bad. The result of main field testing, 69.44% items were declared valid and 30.56% items were declared invalid. Test items have high reliability with a value of 0.879. The proportion of the level of difficulty obtained in the main field testing is also not ideal, which is 56% of the difficult category and 44% of the sufficient category. The discrimination power consist of 32% good, 40% were sufficient, and 28% were poor.

Abstract

Hasil belajar mata kuliah optik selama semester gasal 2005/2006 kurang menunjukkan capaian yang maksimal, mahasiswa masihkurang menunjukkan sikap aktif dan mandiri dalam belajar. Sejumlah temuan mengindikasikan bahwa mahasiswa malas mengerjakantugas dan tidak mempersiapkan diri menghadapi perkuliahan. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi tersebut peneliti berupaya untukmeningkatkan mutu pembelajaran agar dapat menumbuhkan kemauan mahasiswa untuk belajar mandiri dan aktif di kelassehingga dapat meningkatkan capaian hasil belajar mata kuliah optik. Model pembelajaran Self Regulated Learning paling sesuaiuntuk menyelesaikan permasalahan ini karena model ini memberi kesempatan mahasiswa untuk mengeksplorasi diri danmengarahkan ma-hasiswa untuk belajar secara mandiri. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian kebebasan memilihteman dalam kelompok dan memilih pola belajar sesuai dengan minatnya ternyata memberi kenyamanan belajar dan motivasiberkompetisi yang positif sehingga capaian belajarnya lebih baik. Learning achievement of optics subject during odd semester of 2005/2006 showed that students achievement was not maximal.The students were inactive and did not have self learning attitude. Several findings indicated that the students were lazy in doing theassignment and did not have preparation in facing the lesson. Based on the above evaluation, the researchers have an effort toincrease the quality of the lesson in order to grow students will to be active and have self learning attitude, which in turn canincrease their achievement on optics subject. Self Regulated Learning model is the most suitable model to be applied for solving theproblem. It is because this model gives students a chance to explore and direct themselves to be able to have self learning attitude.The result shows that the opportunity to choose friend in a group and learning pattern suitable with the students interest givestudents enjoyable learning and motivation to compete positively leading to get better achievement.Keywords: Autonomous; optics; self regulated learning

Abstract

Model pelaksanaan praktikum fisika yang selama ini dilakukan adalah model resep masakan, yaitu semua hal yang berkaitandengan praktikum mulai petunjuk praktikum sampai alat telah disediakan oleh laboran. Model tersebut memiliki kelemahan yaitusemangat untuk menggali pengetahuan mahasiswa menjadi rendah, karena apapun yang dibutuhkan dalam praktikum telahdisajikan.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menerapkan model praktikum problem solving laboratory untuk meningkatkan kualitaspelaksanaan praktikum Fisika Dasar di Jurusan Fisika UNNES. Rancangan penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian tindakankelas(action research) yang dilakukan dalam 3 siklus. Masing-masing siklus terdiri dari langkah: perencanaan, implementasi,evaluasi dan refleksi yang mengadopsi Model Spiral dari Kemmis dan MC Taggart. Pada saat pelaksanaan pembelajaran, siswadiberikan masalah yang berkaitan dengan konsep yang harus dikuasai. Masalah yang diberikan kepada mahasiswa akandiselesaikan oleh mahasiswa melalui kegiatan praktikum. Melalui penerapan model praktikum problem solving laboratory telahberhasil meningkatkan kualitas pelaksanaan praktikum Fisika Dasar 1. Indikator dari meningkatnya kualitas praktikum tercermindari peningkatan hasil belajar mahasiswa dan aktivitas belajarnya. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan pelaksanaan praktikum fisikadasar terlihat pada saat kegiatan praktikum pada setiap siklusnya terjadi peningkatan aktivitasnya, baik untuk kegiatan prapraktikum, pada saat praktikum dan presentasi hasilnya. Lembar kegiatan praktikum mahasiswa mampu diselesaikan dengan baikoleh tiap-tiap kelompok praktikum. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah 1) telah terjadi peningkatkan kualitas pelaksanaanpraktikum Fisika Dasar 1 di Jurusan Fisika UNNES dengan penerapan model praktikum problem solving laboratory. 2) telah terjadiperbaikan pelaksanaan praktikum Fisika Dasar 1 di Jurusan Fisika UNNES dengan penerapan model praktikum problem solvinglaboratory. Hal ini ditandai dengan kemampuan mahasiswa yang mampu menyelesaikan lembar kegiatan praktikum mahasiswadengan baik. Recipe model is used to be applied in teaching the Basic Physics Laboratory. All the materials and equipment needed in theexperiment were already prepared. The spirit of inquiring to deeply explore the physics concept is poor. This model shows aweakness and it is important to find the solution. The goal of this research is to encourage students to be more active and more selfregulated in learning process. Based on literature researches, Problem Solving Laboratory is the best approach to solve theproblem. Classroom action research was set in three cycles and in every cycle it refers to Kemmis and MC Taggart model. Duringlearning process, students were given a set of problems that they should find the solution by the experiment they do. By applyingthe model the quality of Physics Experiment learning process was increasing significantly, both in students activities as well as theirachievement in every cycle. The students activities in preparing materials and equipment, doing the experiment, as well aspresenting their results of the experiment were improving significantly. The worksheet of the experiment can be done by each groupwell. So, it can be concluded that there is a significant quality improvement of the Physics Experiment learning process. The qualityimprovement is proven in students ability to do problem-solving laboratory well.Keywords: problem solving laboratory; physics experiment; classroom action research.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar Fisika Matematika dengan memberi keleluasaan kepada mahasiswa dalam memilih tipe belajar yang diminati agar dapat memacu mahasiswa mampu belajar secara mandiri. Model Self Regulated Learning (SRL) dipilih karena dinilai memuat uraian tugas dan kewajiban dosen dan mahasiswa untuk mencapai tujuan ini. Sampel penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester genap 2010/2011 yang mengambil mata kuliah Fisika Matematika 1. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang menggunakan metode penelitian research and development ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman dan capaian prestasi belajar yang cukup signifikan. Peningkatan persepsi diri mahasiswa tentang pemahaman materi Fisika Matematika 1 serta capaian rata-rata yang masuk dalam kategori B menggambarkan keefektifan metode ini. Masih ada beberapa mahasiswa yang perlu mendapatkan perhatian dengan perbaikan yang berkelanjutan baik dari segi konten, sajian, maupun proses pembelajaran.The research aimed to increase the students’ motivation in learning Mathematical Physics by choosing their own type of study in order to challenge them to study autonomy. Self Regulated Learning (SRL) model is chosen since the model provides the role for teacher and learner to reach the learning goal. This research has been done to the students who taken Mathematical Physics 1 in even semester of academic year of 2010/2011. Based on the result using research and development methodology, it can be concluded that there is a quite significant gain of students’ understanding of Mathematical Physics 1 concepts. The increase of students’ self perception of material understanding of Mathematical Physics 1 and the average of achievement categorized as B shows the effectiveness of the method.  There are some students who still need to be concerned by continuing their improvement in learning content as well as the learning process.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui capaian level berpikir reflektif mahasiswa yang menempuh program remidial perkuliahan Fisika Matematika 1(Fismat 1) berbasis Cognitive Apprenticeship Instruction (CAI). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pendahuluan dari serangkaian penelitian mixed method dengan desain embedded experimental yang melibatkan 6 orang mahasiswa dan diamati dalam empat tatap muka. Perkuliahan berbasis CAI ini menggunakan sintaks perkuliahan yang terdiri atas tahapan modeling, coaching, articulation, reflection, dan exploration. Pada akhir penelitian mahasiswa diberi tes keterampilan berpikir reflektif, diminta mengisi angket, dan diwawancarai. Data dianalisis secara kualitatif dan ditriangulasi dari hasil analisis observasi, angket, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini menginformasikan bahwa perkuliahan Fismat 1 berbasis CAI membantu mahasiswa yang mengikuti remidial sehingga mampu berpikir reflektif pada level kedua dari empat level berpikir reflektif, yaitu understanding. Beberapa kriteria berpikir reflektif masih belum dicapai mahasiswa secara optimal. Oleh karena itu perlu strategi yang lebih efektif dalam setiap tahapan CAI untuk meningkatkan level berpikir reflektif mahasiswa.ABSTRACTThis research is a mixed method research design which aimed to determine the students’ reflective thinking level after they experienced cognitive apprenticeship instruction (CAI) based learning program in the Mathematical Physics 1. Syntaxes of CAI program are modeling, coaching, articulation, reflection, and exploration. The data was collected from six remedial students’ performances of reflective thinking skill test and was analyzed using qualitative approach by triangulating it with observation and questionnaire, as well as interview results. The data analysis showed that the remedial students’ level was on the second phase of reflective thinking skill, namely understanding level. Several criterias of reflective thinking skill were still poor achieved by the students. Therefore, the more effective strategies applied in every syntax of CAI are required in order to improve the students’ level of reflective thinking.

Abstract

This study aims to design a science learning program based on the local wisdom and apply it in elementary school. Mixed method research was use to gain the significance improvement from the design. There were 35 elementary science teachers from 16 elementary schools chosen by using purposive random sampling. The previous research revealed that there are about 80% of the teachers who were recognized the local wisdoms in their environment, but none of them have a capability to use it as a part of their science program in the classroom. To overcome this constrain, Review(R), Task(T), Solution(S), Reflection(R), and Evaluation(E) design was proposed in elementary school science learning. By implementing the design in two elementary schools, 11 positive characters expected were indicated from students’ performance. But characters of honest, disciplined, conscientious, diligent, careful, responsibility, and caring environment, are most significant. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan desain pembelajaran sains berbasis kearifan lokal pada tingkat sekolah dasar. Metode penelitian campuran (mixed method) digunakan untuk melihat signifikasi capaian pengembangan desain. Penelitian ini melibatkan 35 guru dari 16 sekolah dasar yang dipilih secara acak dari sekolah-sekolah yang memenuhi kriteria yang telah ditetapkan. Dari penelitian sebelumnya diperoleh hasil bahwa sekitar 80% dari sampel telah mengenali kearifan lokal di lingkungan sekolah masing-masing. Namun, tidak satupun dari sampel yang memiliki kapasitas untuk mengaplikasikan kearifan lokal tersebut ke dalam kurikulum sains mereka. Untuk mengatasi kendala ini, maka digagaslah desain Review(R), Task(T), Solution(S), Reflection(R), dan Evaluation(E) ini. Dua sekolah dipilih secara purposive sampling sebagai kelas eksperimen. Dengan mengkombinasikan dari kualitatif hasil RnD desain dan data kuantitatif nilai tes, diperoleh informasi bahwa 11 karakter positif terindikasi pada performan siswa. Dari kesebelas karakter tersebut, kejujuran, keingintahuan, jujur, hati-hati, tanggung jawab, dan peduli lingkungan yang paling meningkat secara signifikan.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop computer-based experiment of free fall movement to improve the graphical literacy of the Physics Education students. This study employed quasi-experimental design, particularly the pre-test and post-test control group design. The sample was 58 students of the first semester of Physics Education study program. They were divided into two groups, namely 38 students constituted an experimental group and 20 students constituted the control group. Both groups joined learning activities at laboratory and classrooms with the same topic which is the free fall movement. Computer-based learning models were used to design learning activities for the experimental group, while the control group used a traditional learning model with manual experiment with stopwatch and never use experiment tool of free fall movement. It was indicated in this study that the use of such learning model improved the graphical literacy capability better than the traditional learning, which covered ability to identify experimental variables, using the experimental tools, making a graph, formulating mathematical equation, making predictions on the basis of the graph.
