Abstract

This paper’s aim is to explain the role of the local public sectors in regional economic growth in Ex-Residency of Surakarta. The question we ask in this paper is whether local taxes and local expenditures affect regional economic growth in Ex Residency of Surakarta. This question is very important in two respect. First, It would be especially interesting to know whether local government taxes and/or expenditures have had an impact on regional economic growth. An alternative view argues againts any such impact. Second, as local autonomy will soon be granted, local government need to understand the mechanism by which local taxes and expenditures affect the regional economy. The major finding in this paper area as follows. The role of local government in regional economic growth has been very significant. Local taxes and local revenues have a significant negative effect on local regional economic growth, while local government investment have a significant positive effect on regional economic growth. On the other hand, Local government consumption and labor force have no significant effect on regional economic growth. One of the crusial policy implication of this paper is that we must enhance the role of local government, local autonomy having been recently introduced. More specifically, the central government should transfer more revenue sources to its lower level local government through. For example, revenue sharing of national taxes. Keywords: local public sector, regional economic growth, regional economic gap.

Abstract

This study aims to identify regulations and analyze the determinants of outsourcing implementation in the Indonesian manufacturing industry using an analyctic hierarchy process (AHP). We examines both the Indonesian Labor Law–Act No. 13/2003 and the Regulation of Minister of Manpower and Transmigration No. 19/2012 on Conditions for Outsourcing the Implementation of Work to Other Companies. The results suggest that business efficiency, human resource development plan, types of outsourcing, wage level and worker incentive, recruitment and training cost, skilled  worker and productivity, recruitment process, and government regulation are the priority factors to implement outsourcing in Indonesian manufacturing industries.

While self-actualization and familys income, have a significant positive effect on women determination of labor force participation.Based on the result, there are differences between independent variables (age and culture) vector mean to dependent variables (economic and education motivation)All multivariate tests indicate that the interaction effect is significant. Both Variables culture and education have a significant effect income variable at 0,05 significant level but not significant on education variables. One of the crucial policy implications of this paper is that we must enhance the government policy on that base on that result. The aims of this paper is to test Purchasing Power Parity for Indonesian currency to US dollar. The analysis used in this article is the long run equilibrium with cointegrated test approach. The result show that almost all variable in this model are stasionair in the first degree, but both variable s and p not cointegrated for the absolut PPP. The estimated result show that Pj=l hypothesis is not hold during 1974.4 -1998.3 period. In the other hand, cointegrated test for the variable dst and dpt in the relative PPP is cointegrated and the estimation result show that the Relative PPP and the Cochrane-orcutt model PPP is hold for Indonesia, except for the period when Indonesia had fixed exchange rates during 1974.4 -1986.3 period.

Abstract

In most West African countries, the financial sectors are the least developed area. The absence of deep-efficient financial markets put major economic growth constraints. This study aimed to investigate the financial sector performance in twelve selected West African countries. To determine financial sector performance, a panel data semi-log model was employed. Data were collected from the World Bank Open data page from 2004-2013. The results revealed that both variables matched the hypothesis, indicating a positive impact in the financial sector. It indicated that the variables used in this study were major players of the financial sector in the selected countries. This study recommends that because financial stability, globally and within countries, generates jobs and improves productivity, more efforts should be made to ensure an effective and developed financial sector system. It is so because limited and inadequate access to credit will limit small and medium-sized enterprises' contributions to private sector development
