Abstract

Forest Area with Special Purposes (KHDTK) Buluh Cina requires a land suitability analysis so that the development of plant species can be carried out optimally. This study aims to map land units and determine land suitability classes. This study uses aerial photography to classify land cover and take soil samples. Furthermore, overlay analysis and species matching were carried out for 7 types of plants including durian, rambutan, sengon, mango, cacao, pineapple, and corn. The land suitability class is divided into 4 levels namely, very suitable (S1), suitable (S2), marginally suitable (S3), and not suitable (N). Based on the results, the actual land suitability class at KHDTK Buluh Cina class S1 was rambutan at SPL I and III. Land suitability class S2 is rambutan at SPL II and IV. S3 land suitability classes are durian, sengon, mango, cocoa, pineapple, and corn in SPL I, II, III, and IV. The potential land suitability class at KHDTK Buluh Cina class S1 is rambutan at SPL I, II, III and IV. Land suitability class S2 is durian, sengon, and cocoa at SPL I, II, III, and IV. S3 land suitability class is mango, pineapple, and corn in SPL I, II, III, and IV.

Abstract

Minas Jaya is one of the villages adjacent to Sultan Syarif Hasyim Forest Park (Tahura SSH). Tahura SSH is one of the conservation areas in Riau Province which is currently in critical condition due to forest encroachment, illegal logging, forest fires and illegal land conversion. In order to restore it requires an approach that combines conservation and community empowerment. One is the concept of Conservation Village. The initial stage in Conservation Village development needs to be a priority class map of conservation. The problems faced by partners to produce such maps require special expertise in spatial planning, mapping, and understanding of conservation village concepts. Based on the mapping identification showing that data of the conservation priority area 1, were identified it consisted of 243.92 hectares, then the conservation priority area 2 consisted of 257.87 hectares. Further, the conservation priority area 3 also identified and consisted of 504.28 hectares, moreover the conservation level 4 conservation area around 1,868.57 hectares, and conservation priorities 5 identified around 1,082.79 hectares. Conservation program directives were linked to each priority of conservation classes. It generally includes a good forest covers protection activities, enrich the land with tree crops. Furthermore, critical land rehabilitation with agroforestry patterns has the choice of species and proportion of annual crops and trees adapted to the degree of land criticality and gradient.

Abstract

Communication is an essential part of the process of development. Therefore, effective communication is needed to achieve development goals. Rubber is the second largest commodity in Riau Province, after oil palm, and most of rubber commodities are managed by independent rubber farmers. Successful development of rubber farming is needed in order to increase the income and welfare of rubber farmers. However, effective communication is needed to achieve these objectives. The objectives of this study are to; (1) describe the internal and external characteristics of rubber farmers; (2) analyze the relationship between the characteristics and the effectiveness of the communication by rubber farmers. Research was conducted in two potential rubber commodity districts in Riau Province, e.g Kuantan Singingi Regency and Kampar Regency. Respondents in this study were determined by objective sampling and random sampling methods, with 143 rubber farmers as respondents. The results showed (1) the internal characteristics and external characteristics of the rubber farmers in an adequately supportive category; (2) the internal characteristics (education, number of dependents, land area and cosmopolitan area) and the external characteristics (intensity of enhancement, accuracy of extension channels and number of sources of information) have a significant correlation with the efficacy are significant correlated with the effectiveness of group and interpersonal communication. In order for effective communication in farmer group institutions (group communication), it is necessary to increase the intensity of extension, appropriate media extension and increase the number of information sources that are easily accessible by rubber farmers.

Abstract

The availability of topographical maps is indispensable for planning the physical development and landscape arrangement of the Tahfizh Al-Quds Islamic Boarding School. Currently for the manufacture of topographic maps can use drones. Partners do not yet have the skills to do this. The solution offered by the Lancang Kuning University service team is to assist in making topographic maps. Aerial photography is done by using a drone. Furthermore, the data is processed using the Agisoft Photoscan and ArcGIS applications. Based on the topographic map, there are 12 contour lines. The highest area is in the North Southwest, while the lowest area is on the outermost polygon line. Areas that are relatively sloping are in the West to the North, while areas that are steep are in the East to the Southeast. This map can be used as a guide for physical development and infrastructure according to the characteristics of the land.
