Abstract

Sengon nursery business groups, especially in Poncokusumo Subdistrict and Wajak Subdistrict, Malang Regency still rely on sengon seeds that grow wild in nature with low growth rates. Though sengon seeds are a commodity of high economic value. This can be seen from the small number of breeders who manage the sengon seeds well. Even though the availability of plant seeds is a factor that plays a major role in the success of the sengon plant forest development program. Quality seeds with the support of aquaculture technology can provide high quality seeds so they can produce quality trees and wood products. The stages of implementing PKM activities are as follows: (a) Survey and planning, (b) Counseling and training "Optimization of Yard / Garden Land Management with Sengon Solomon Results of In Vitro Culture in Sengon Nursery Groups in Malang Regency", and (c) Cultivation Solomon's sengon seeds from in vitro culture. The results achieved through this community service program are resolving some of the partners 'problems, namely sengon breeders still rely on sengon seeds that grow wild in nature, lack of sengon seedlings, lack of public understanding of solomon sengon cultivation technology, limited breeders' ability to seed sengon, and low superior sengon seeds produced, which have an impact on the amount of sengon seedlings produced. The activities carried out have succeeded in supporting the service program, namely counseling and training on "Optimizing the Management of Yard / Garden Land with Sengon Solomon Results of In Vitro Culture in Sengon Nursing Business Groups in Malang Regency", and cultivating the seeds of sengon solomon from in vitro culture.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop a textbook on Embryology and Animal Reproduction based on the research on the development of mouse embryos by adding DEET (Diethyltoluamide) that was appropriate and validated by material, media and language experts. This research is a development study of textbooks on animal embryology and reproduction based on the results of research on the development of mouse embryos by adding DEET. The development of this textbook refers to the 4D model developed by Thiagarajan, et al. (1974) which consisted of 4 stages, namely Define, Design, Development, and Disseminate, which were modified to be adapted to this study. This development research produced a textbook on Embryology and Animal Reproduction based on research on the development of mouse embryos by adding proper DEET and validating it by material, media and language experts.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the needs of the Embryology and Animal Reproduction textbook integrated with the results of research on developing mouse embryos with the support of DEET (Diethyltoluamide). This research is research Descriptive quantitative with a gradual revision defines the Thiagarajan development model. Data collection techniques are done by distributing questionnaires, observations, and interview. The results showed 80% of abstract animal embryology and reproduction  materials, 80% of teaching materials were less attractive, 85% were difficult to understand, 80% of images were minimal and 85% were teratologies in developing difficult animals. Analysis of the need for textbooks shows that there is no embryology and animal reproduction textbook as a result of research on developing mouse embryos with the help of DEET (Diethyltoluamide).

Abstract

The study was aimed to identify the degree of acidity (pH) vinegar in a medium waste fermentation of cocoa beans due to the addition of Acetobacter aceti concentration and time of incubation. This research utilised two factor, factorial design with completely randomized design (CRD). Thefirst factor is the Acetobacter aceti consentration (10%, 13%, dan 16%). The second is the time of incubation (6, 8, dan 10 day). Results were analyzed by using SPSS program version 11 personal computer, two way ANOVA and multiple comparison test with significance level of 0,05.The results of analysis of variance showed that there were differences in the degree of acidity (pH) of vinegar in a medium waste fermentation of cocoa beans due to the addition of Acetobacter aceti concentration and time of incubation. While Duncan's test results showed the treatment inoculation 13% starter Acetobacter aceti with 6 days of incubation time significantly different from the other treatments with minimal pH is 2,02. So that these results meet the standards of vinegar. From these experiment we suggested that consentration of Acetobacter aceti and incubation period has effects in the degree of acidity (pH) vinegar in fermentation waste of cacao seed medium

Abstract

The study was aimed to identify the effect of DEET on fetal skeletal abnormalities of Balb/C strain mice. Thirty five female Balb/C strain mice were used in this study. The female mice were mated with male mice used one mating method. Mice in treatment group were administered dermally with 281,25; 562,5 1125 and 2250 mg/kg BW DEET disolved in ethanol at gestation day of 6 to 15, while mice in control were administered with ethanol. Mice in group were repeated seven times. At gestation day 18, the mice were sacrificed and fetal skeletal abnormalities were observed. Bone staining subsequently was done by using Alizarin Red S. Results were analyzed by using SPSS program version 16 personal computer, one way ANOVA and multiple comparison test with significance level of 0,05. Skeletal abnormalities such as supraoccipital, sternal, vertebral, sacrocaudal and phalanx were not found in all doses administered. From these experiment we suggested that DEET has no effects in fetal skeletal abnormalities such as supraoccipital, sternal, vertebral, sacrocaudal and phalanx
