Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the intensity of the extension worker's communication on the adoption of farmers in the field school program for integrated crop management (SLPTT) for lowland rice in Wawotobi sub-district, Konawe district. The sampling technique used was purposive random sampling, and the data analysis used was descriptive and inferential statistics with simple linear regression. The research method used is a quantitative analysis method using primary data such as observations and questionnaires. The results of this studied indicate that the intensity of the extension worker's communication on farmer adoption in the field school program for integrated crop management (SLPTT) for lowland rice showed a positive and significant influence and contributes 32 ,8%. Regression equation X is obtained, which is = 37.502 = 0.367X, which means that the better the Intensity of Intensity of Communication for the Integrated Crop Management Field School Program (SLPTT), the higher the adoption of farmers in the program (SLPTT).

Abstract

The agricultural sector is one of the important sectors in national economic development. Participation of farmers both individually and in groups with full awareness and responsibility in the field of agricultural business is indispensable to create changes that can improve the welfare of farmers. To increase farmers' participation, the role of agricultural extensionists is very important. This research aimed to knowed the level of communication skills of extension workers, the level of participation of farmers and to know the relationship of communication skills to the participation of farmers in rice paddy extension activities in wonua monapa village pondidaha district konawe. Sampling is determined randomly or simple random sampling with the number of samples as many as 43 respondents rice paddy farmers. The techniques of data analyzed used to determine extension communication skills and farmer participation are measured using a likert scale and then analyzed using a class interval formula and to find out the relationship of extension communication skills to farmer participation using spearman rank correlation formula. The results showed that the communication skills of extension workers with a moderate category with a percentage of 76.74%, the participation of farmers with a moderate category with a percentage of 58.14%. Rank Spearman's correlation test results showed that extension communication skills with farmers' participation in rice paddy extension activities showed significance or Sig value. (2-tailed) of 0.030<0.05, so Ha was accepted. That is, the improved communication skills of extension workers, the participation of farmers will also increase.

Abstract

Today's community-based development can be seen as one of the new paradigms in rural and agricultural development. Sustainable development, especially in rural areas, is pursued through increasing community empowerment and independence in realizing prosperity in all aspects of community life including the economic, socio-cultural, political and environmental fields. Community resilience is a process related to the capacity of the community after receiving a program or activity from a community empowerment program. In addition, community resilience is related to the adaptability of the community after receiving collective knowledge and skills and using the inherent capacity of individuals and communities in dealing with problems, so that community resilience is a concept that is currently used as an instrument of sustainable development. This study aims to determine the impact of implementing agricultural extension programs on the capacity and economic resilience of lowland rice farmers in the Amohalo neighborhood. This study uses a qualitative method. The process of collecting data was carried out by means of observation, interviews, literature studies and document studies. The results showed that the agricultural extension program implemented in the Amohalo Environment contributed to capacity building as seen by the increase in knowledge, attitudes and skills as well as institutional capabilities, especially cooperation and participation. Capacity building from the delivery of agricultural extension materials also builds community resilience in the Amohalo Environment, including the economic aspect consisting of a diverse & creative economy and income.
