Abstract

The purpose of this research to know about DiscoveryLearning Model can increase learning activeness and achievement in “Pengantar Administrasi Perkantoran” subject in the 10th AP (Administrasi Perkantoran) 3 grade of SMK Negeri 6 Surakarta in theschool year of 2014/2015. This study is a classroom action research (CAR) that was conducted in 2 cycles. Each cycle consisted of 4 stages: (1) planning, (2) acting, (3) observing and interpreting, and (4) analyzing and reflecting. In those 4 stages, the teacher involve “Pengantar Administrasi Perkantoran” subject and the 10 th AP 3 graders consisting of 32 students. Based on research that have beendone, it could be concluded that the application of Discovery Learning model to “Pengantar Administrasi Perkantoran” subject could improve the students‟ learning activeness and learning achievement in the 10th AP 3 grade of SMK Negeri 6 of Surakarta in the school year of 2014/2015. It can be seen from the students‟learning activeness and learning achievement improving continuously in cycle I and cycle II compare to pre-cycle stages. In pre-cycle, the students‟ activeness was 52,73% in visual activities, 48,44% in oral activities, 50,00% in writing activities, 50,78% in learning activities and 53,91% in mental activities aspect. Meanwhilethe learning achievement consisting of 3 domains could be elaborated as follows: (1) cognitive domain reached the mean class score of 71,69, (2) affective domain reached 50%, and (3) psychomotor reached 81,25%. In cycle I, the students‟ activeness improved to 63,67% in visual activities, 69,14% in oral activities, 75,00% in writing activities, 70,31% in listening activities, and 53,91% inmental activities. In addition to activeness, the students‟ learning achievement consisting of 3 domains also improved. The mean class reached 75,25 for cognitive, 65,63% for affective, and 84,38% for psychomotor domains. Then, in cycle II, the students‟ activeness and learning achievement also improved. The first improvement was that of activeness in visual activities of 85,55%, oral activities of 80,86%, writing activities of 82,03%, listening activities of 82,42%, and mental activities of 83,59%. The second improvement was that of learning achievement consisting of 3 domains (1) cognitive domain with the mean class score of 82,69, (2) affective domain reached 100%, and (3) psychomotor domain reached 96,88%. From the result of research, it could be concluded that the application of Discovery Learning model to “Pengantar Administrasi Perkantoran” subject could improve the students‟ activeness and learning achievement in  the 10th AP 3 grade of SMK Negeri 6 of Surakarta in the school year of 2014/2015.
