Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi aspek-aspek karakter yang perlu dikembangkan di kelas II SD, menghasilkan produk berupa bahan bacaan cerita bergambar berorientasi pendidikan karakter untuk pelajaran membaca siswa kelas II SD, dan mendeskripsikan kualitas bahan bacaan cerita bergambar berorientasi pendidikan karakter untuk pelajaran membaca siswa kelas II SD di Kabupaten Wonogiri. Jenis penelitian ini adalah model penelitian dan pengembangan atau Research and Development (R&D). Model pengembangan penelitian ini meliputi lima tahap, yaitu analisis, desain, produksi, uji coba dan revisi, serta pemanfaatannya.Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan instrument berupa lembar observasi, kuesioner, dan tes. Nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter yang dikembangkan dalam bahan bacaan kelas II SD ini mencakup nilai-nilai kedisiplinan dan nilai-nilai kejujuran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa uji coba terhadap produk bahan bacaan cerita bergambar berorientasi pendidikan karakter untuk pembelajaran membaca siswa kelas II SD melalui tahap validasi ahli materi dan ahli media, uji coba kelompok, dan uji coba lapangan, serta analisis dan revisi sehingga menjadi produk akhir yang layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran. Penelitian menunjukkan hasil penilaian guru dari aspek pembelajaran rata-rata skor 3,9 yang berarti “Baik”. Kemudian dari aspek isi memperoleh rata-rata skor 4,0 Yang berarti “Baik” dan aspek tampilan memperoleh rata-rata skor 4,3 yang berarti “Baik”, sehingga produk bahan bacaan tersebut layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran dan sumber bahan bacaan untuk siswa. Kata kunci: nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter,bahan bacaan, cerita bergambar THE DEVELOPMENT OF STORIES ILUSTRATED MATERIAL BASED ON CHARACTER EDUCATION IN READING SUBJECT OF SECOND GRADE OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN WONOGIRI REGENCY Abstract: This study aims to identify the character aspects that needs to be developed for second class of primary school, create the products with the reading material pictorial story oriented to character education on reading subject for second grade of primary school grade, and describe the quality of reading material pictorial story oriented to character education on reading subject for second grade of primary school grade in Wonogiri Regency. This research was a Research and Development (R & D) model. This research had five stages namely analysis, design, production, testing and revision, and the usage. Data collecting technique in this study used the instruments in the form of observation sheets, questionnaires and tests.The character education values that developed in the second class of primary school reading materials were discipline and honesty values. The results showed that the test of the reading material pictorial story oriented to character education on reading subject for second grade of primary school grade through the material experts and media experts validation phases, test group, field trials, and analysis and revision so that create the final product which was usable as learning media. Research showed that the results of teacher assessment of the learning aspect reached the average score of 3.9, which means "good". Then, from the content aspect reached the average score of 4.0 which means "good", and from display aspect reached the average score of 4.3, which means "good", so that the product was appropriate as a reading material for learning media and source of reading material for students.
