Abstract

The intake of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) can lead to poor productivity and diseases in birds. Thus, it is important to minimize the toxic effects of AFB1. The objective of this study was to evaluate the carcass yield and haematological profile of broilers fed diets containing AFB1 added with Mycosorb. A total of 240-day old broiler chicks were randomly distributed to 24 pens (10 birds/pen). The experiment was designed using a 4 x 2 factorial arrangement with two different factors, namely aflatoxin level and Mycosorb. The treatments were control diets, control diets added with Mycosorb, diets containing 10.36 ppb AFB1, diets containing 10.36 ppb AFB1 added with Mycosorb, diets containing 26.97 ppb AFB1, diets containing 26.97 ppb AFB1 added with Mycosorb, diets containing 61.06 ppb AFB1, diets containing 61.06 ppb AFB1 added with Mycosorb. There was an interaction (p<0.05 to 0.01) between AFB1 level and Mycosorb on the white blood cells (WBC) and litter/excreta score (LES), but not (p>0.05) in tcarcass traits (CT), lymphoid organ weight (LOW), and haematological profile (HP) of broilers. Level of AFB1 did not affect (p>0.05) all CT, LOW, and HP, but it affected (p<0.001) the LES. Mycosorb did not improve (p>0.05) CT, LOW and HP of broilers.  In conclusions, 1) dietary Mycosorb in afla-treated diets improved litter quality and reduced white blood cell counts of broilers; 2) the AFB1 level up to 61.06 ppb did not impair carcass yield, lymphoid organ weights and other haematological index of broilers.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of herbs and yeast addition to drinking water on the weight and length of the digestive tract of broiler chickens. The study design used a completely randomized design with four treatmens and five repetitions. Group P1: Herbal medicene 10 ml/Liter drinking water, P2: Herbal medicine 10 ml added with yeast 1 g/Liter drinking water, P3: Yeast 1g/Liter drinking water, PO: Controls given water. Data analysis used analysis of variance (Anova) and if the result had a significant effect, it was continued with Duncan's Multiple Distance tes. The addition of herbs and yeast to drinking water had an effect on the size of the spleen and pancreas and significantly (P<0,05) on the weight of the spleen and pancreas, but had no effect (P> 0,05) on the weight and length of the small intestine, liver and broiler final weight. The addition of herbs and yeast to drinking water can reduce the weight of the small intestine and shorten the intestine, increase the weight of the spleen and pancreas, but have the same effect on the final weight. The use of herbal medicene should be fermented together with yeast to determine its effectiveness in the digestive tract.

Abstract

Bacteria Identification Salmonella Sp And Full Scale Kontaminan Bacteria Coliform In Puffed Up Fish (Scomber Sp) That Sold At Inpres And Oeba Market. This study was about identification of salmonella bacteria and the total contaminant of colliform bacteria in kembung fish/ scomber sp that was sold in Inpres and Oeba Traditional Market. This study had been conducted for about 7 month in Kesmavet Laboratory, UPTD P2H Oesapa. Fifteen samples were taken randomly in each market, so that the total of  the sample were 30. The variables, which observed, were salmonella bacteria contaminant and the counting of colliform in kembung fish and physical observationof the fish. The data, which was collected from the results of examination and observation, were then analyzed descriptively. The result of the study showed that the total contaminant of colliform bacteria was 36 X 105 sel gram -1 in Inpres Market and 72 X 105 sel gram in Oeba Market, while there was no sign of Salmonella sp presents. This character was observed onmedia of XLD Agar, TSI Agar and LIA Agar so that the growth of bacteria colonizes in Inpres Market as well as in Oeba Market were prohibited. Abstract

Microbiology Identification (Staphylococcus and Coliform) of Milk, Meat and Their Processed Products in Jogjakarta City. Food is a perishable foods by microorganisms that can be harmful to consumers' health. Staphylococci and coliform commonly found in foods. The objective of this study was to know the type of contaminants in samples of meat and milk and processed products and growth in culture media. Materials examined were dairy and meat and dairy that come from the city of Jogjakarta. This study was conducted in August 2010 at the Laboratory of Veterinary Public Health Faculty, Gadjah Mada University. The method used in the microbiological examination is the method of casting and counting the cup.The results obtained from both methods of inspection showed there Staphylococcus and coliform contaminants in the material examined. The number of bacteria Staphylococcus sp on Vogel-Johnson media showed a high coliform in fresh milk while Violet Red Bile media found in raw milk and raw chicken meat. The results obtained in excess of standards established SNI No. 01-7388-2009. Obtained from the examination can be concluded that the number of bacteria exceeds SNI standards are set. Abstract

This study aims is to find the response of antibody titers in chickens vaccinated with ND and given herbal remedies. The chickens used which were one day broiler (DOC) strain of CP 707. This extract groups were given to chickens from 7 days until 28 days in three treatment groups and one control group (drinking water). Serum samples were taken from chickens aged 7, 14, and 21 days after ND vaccination, followed by serological tests. The average that of antibody titers before were giventreatmentand 7 days post vaccination showed that the highest titers and the average antibody titers after vaccination at day 14, 21 and 28 days and post were given treatment with herbs and decoction of curry leaves were decrease. ANOVA analysis revealed that all treatments had no significant effect (P> 0.05) toward the number of antibody titers in tested broiler chickens. In the treatment of herbal medicine, a combination of herbs and decoction of curry leaves, and decoction of curry leaves whichwere given to chickens showed that there were the same number of antibody titers as the control of only drinking water. But the platelet values in the treatment group were higher than control (drinking water).

Abstract

Flies are vectors of various diseases in livestock. Eupatorium odoratum plants are bush plants that thrive and have antibacterial, antifungal and insecticidal activity. The purpose of this research is to know the effectiveness of Eupatorium odoratum extract as a natural insecticide, easy to get and safe. Flies were taken from the farmyard location, then grouped into 4 of 40 each per group. Flies were treated with Eupatorium odoratum extract at concentrations of 25%, 50% and 75%, while the controls were not treated. Observation of extract activity on flies mortality was taken within 3 hours, 6 hours to 12 hours after treatment. The data were analyzed descriptively and showed that the treatment result was not effective. Flies adapted in experimental cages do not get food (blood sucking activity at the host), so flies will die or flies can not survive outside the host's body.

Abstract

Herbal medicine has been used an empirical prevention and treatment of diseases in livestocck. Herbal medicine contains several active compounds that can act as antimicobials, anthelmintics, antifungals, immunostimulant, and growth promoter. The herbs that are widely used are tuumeric, ginger, temulawak, and garlic as the basic ingredients of herbal medicine. Based on phytochemical screening test unfermented herbs containing positive Flavonoid compounds (+), negative Saponins (-), nagative Triterpenoids (-), Positive Alkaloids (+++), and positive tannins (+++). And fermented contains negative Flavonoids (-), positive Saponins (++), negative Triterpenoids (-), positive Alkaloids (+++), and negative tannins (-).

Abstract

Ternak babi merupakan salah satu jenis ternak yang paling banyak dipelihara masyarakat di Kabupaten Kupang dalam menunjang kegiatan ekonomi mereka termasuk untuk kebutuhan sehari-hari dan juga kebutuhan biaya sekolah serta untuk acara keagamaan dan adat istiadat setempat. Pemeliharaan ternak babi oleh masyarakat masih bersifat tradisional tanpa manajemen kesehatan yang baik. Politani Negeri Kupang melalui Jurusan Peternakan dengan Program Studi Kesehatan Hewan yang dimilikinya melakukan pengabdian masyarakat untuk memperkenalkan manajemen kesehatan pada kelompok tani dengan pendekatan pola kemitraan. Model pendekatan ini telah berjalan selama 2 tahun dan memungkinkan masyarakat mendapat pengetahuan, ketrampilan dan praktek beternak secara benar, dimana program ini didisain dengan pola pendampingan dan penyuluhan serta pelayanan kesehatan hewan milik anggota mitra. Dari hasil pra survey dan survey didapatkan beberapa permasalahan yang dialami masyarakat kelompok binaan dalam hal tata laksana kesehatan hewan yang berhubungan dengan sanitasi kandang, kondisi tubuh ternak yang kurang baik karena menderita  cacingan dan anemia, dan juga adanya penyakit-penyakit yang diderita oleh ternak termasuk didalamnya mencret putih (white scours), scabies dan hernia.Pemecahan masalah dengan cara penyuluhan yang dilakukan di kelompok tani binaan, pelayanan kesehatan untuk ternak-ternak yang menderita sakit dan penyakit serta pendampingan yang disediakan oleh Jurusan Peternakan Politani Kupang. Pada pelaksanaannya sebanyak 100 ekor ternak babi mendapatkan pelayanan kesehatan termasuk pemberian multivitamin dan mineral, obat cacing (antiparasit-endo dan ekto parasit), anti lalat, zat besi, dan antibiotik.

Abstract

Desa Penfui Timur berada dekat pinggiran wilayah perkotaan, dengan mata pencaharian sebagai petani yang mengelola lahan pertanian musiman, seperti lahan sawah tadah hujan dan menanam aneka tanaman hortikultura serta usaha sambilan memelihara ternak. Gangguan penyakit pada ternak sapi dan babi masih sering dijumpai di Dusun ini,  setiap peralihan musim yakni penyakit Ngorok atau  SE, Hog Cholera, serta gangguan parasit baik ektoparasit maupun endoparasit. Penerapan teknologi yang dilakukan yaitu: penyuluhan, pelayanan kesehatan hewan dan pendampingan melalui: penyuluhan kepada masyarakat tentang pentingnya penerapan menejemen kesehatan hewan dalam meningkatkan produktivitas ternak., vaksinasi, pemberian multivitamin pada ternak, pengobatan ternak yang sakit, serta  pendampingan. Berdasarkan hasil kegiatan pada masyarakat yang telah dilaksanakan oleh Program  Studi Kesehatan Hewan antara lain: program peyuluhan ke masyarakat  sudah berjalan dengan baik  tentang penerapan manajemen kesehatan ternak (perkandangan dan  pencegahan penyakit), masyarakat mau turut serta berdiskusi secara aktif.  Pelayanan kesehatan hewan yang diterapkan kemasyarakat  melalui program  vaksinasi (vaksinasi SE pada sapi dan babi) dan pengobatan hewan (pemberian obat cacing dan antibiotik untuk ternak sapi, babi dan kambing), pemberian vitamin (untuk ternak hewan besar dan unggas).  Pelayanan yang diberikan tersebut sudah berjalan baik, dengan didasari informasi dari masyarakat kejadian penyakit pada ternak dapat berkurang.

Abstract

 Oefafi village located in East Kupang district, there are two groups of animals: Tun Feu consisting of 5 people and Aim HIF Nao consisted of 6 people. Each member has a tail with 3-5 cattle pasture ± 5 hectares. Endemic disease that infects cattle: Septicemia epizootika and Thelaziasis. Supporting factors: the limited knowledge of farmers on the management of animal health, such as vaccination, sanitation cage. Rotational grazing, cattle feces processing into organic fertilizer and the eradication of the flies as mechanical vectors Thelaziasis not been implemented. Target outcomes: skilled workers formed 50% of the total number of members, in the areas of: vaccination, manufacture neem extract, betel leaf decoction manufacture, processing feces. The presence of a pilot cage every group. Specific target, the target group is expected to be an example for cattle farmers in the province of NTT. Based on observations and information, since the vaccination SE until December 2015 is clinically undiscovered Septicemia epizootika and generated 7 vaccinators. Fly population can be controlled as has been done cage sanitation, rotation grazing, available ± 11 liter extract of neem production (exterminating flies) and the resulting 5 person skilled workers. Thelaziasis incidence decreases gradually because there is a skilled labor 9 in control using betel leaf decoction.
