An unprecedented outbreak of the newly emerging infectious disease of Covid-19 with rapid increases globally and in Indonesia may result in psychological distress among nursing staff. The present study aimed to identify psychological responses among nurses in the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. A cross-sectional data were collected from 535 nurses working in 119 hospitals from 24 provinces in Indonesia using Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-42) and sociodemographic questionnaire. Data were collected using an online survey and analyzed with descriptive and Chi-squared tests. Analysis showed among the respondents, 23.7% (n = 127) had moderate anxiety, 6.5% (n = 35) had moderate stress and 8.8% (n =47) had moderate depression. Anxiety, stress, and depression were significantly higher among nursing staff in the emergency department and Covid-19 isolation ward. Nursing staff, especially those working in the departments mentioned above, were more susceptible to psychological impairment. Effective strategies toward improving their psychological status should be provided among the nurses. Keywords: Covid-19 pandemic, psychological responses, work stress

Abstract

Family support is one of the main aspects that will help Diabetes Mellitus patients to maintain self-care activity. Aspects of family support such as informational, instrumental, appreciation and emotional support are needed in daily care. The purpose of this study was to analyze the role of family support for self-care activity in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients in the Padang City Health Center in 2019. The design of this study was quasi experimental with pre and post test non-equivalentt control group. Sampling by simple random sampling with a total sample of 64 respondents (32 people in each group). Data was collected using The Summary Of Diabetes Self-care Activity (SDSCA). The results of the study using the Paired T-Test showed that there was an effect of family support for self-care activity (P = 0,000). Family support can improve the ability of diabetic patients to manage diet and physical activity (exercise). Self care activities related to diet management, physical activity (exercise) and treatment are important aspects for diabetic patients and need support, not only emotional support but also Informational support, awards and instrumentals.

The city of Padang has a topography prone to flooding or inundation and other natural disasters such as earthquakes accompanied by tsunamis. The city of Padang, in the collision of the Indian Ocean Plate and the Australian Plate which infiltrated under the Eurasian Plate, formed the Benioff Zone, an earthquake zone with seismicity magnitude greater than 5 on the Richter scale. With the condition of the city of Padang which is prone to disasters, it is very necessary for community participation, especially in the prevention of the stages of the pre-disaster (disaster mitigation), during the emergency response, and post-disaster because the people who deal directly with the disaster. Abstract

Entering the new normal era, some people think that the threat of Covid-19 is nothing to fear. But in reality the number of new cases of patients infected with Covid-19 is increasing. This proves that awareness of the Corona virus transmission still needs to be improved. Especially for pre-prosperous families whose access to information is limited. Limited health workers providing education to all levels of society are also an obstacle in the midst of this pandemic. The aim of this activity is to increase the knowledge of the underprivileged community about how to prevent the transmission of the Covid-19 virus. The method of implementing this activity is door-to-door education to underprivileged families living in the village of Sungai Buluh Selatan, Kabupaten Padang Pariaman, the majority of whom work as factory workers and daily laborers. Education was carried out using the media module/booklet and was carried out for three days, namely 1-3 July, 2020, to 32 pre-prosperous families who had been recommended by the head of the jorong. Education includes how to prevent the transmission of the Covid-19 virus, implement clean and healthy living habits, how to do physical/social distancing and how to use the right cloth masks, and make environmental disinfectants with cheap materials. The results of the evaluation show an increase in family understanding and motivation regarding the prevention of Covid-19 transmission. Continuous education is still very much needed, especially for underprivileged families whose access to information sources is limited.

Abstract

Lack of information about Covid-19 issues also causes the elderly and their families to be afraid to visit health services due to being infected with Covid-19. Many elderly who have a history of chronic diseases such as hypertension, heart disease and diabetes were reluctant to carry out control at the Health Care Centre. The purpose of this service was to provide education regarding the transmission of Covid-19 and conduct health checks on the elderly of Melati Community related to chronic diseases. This activity was carried out with a personal approach by taking into account the health protocols of the pandemic. Educational activities and medical health checks were used for the elderly, such as TTV, blood sugar, cholesterol, uric acid, and nutritional status checks. These included outdoor exercise activities for the elderly. The community services activity team provided pocketbooks related to healthy elderly during the Covid-19 pandemic to help realize SMART (Healthy, Independent, Active, and Productive) for the elderly. The results of the examination showed that the elderly had hypertension at 45%, high uric acid at 35.4%, blood sugar levels above 200 as much as 9.2%, and high cholesterol at 80%. For that reason, older people must continue carrying out medical health checks periodically even though they are in a pandemic situation. Furthermore, the medical activity for the elderly has to involve their closest families, even carrying out independent checks at home in coordination with the availability of health workers in their zone.

Abstract

An orphanage is a place to live together and in groups to take care of children without their parents. The condition of the densely populated orphanage environment is often associated with personal hygiene problems for its residents. Poor personal hygiene has a physical and psychological impact on children. The application of the Peer Education method by Ambassadors of "Duta Panti Bersih dan Sehat - PANSIHHAT" was carried out as an alternative to accelerate awareness of Clean and Healthy Life Behavior (CHLB) for children in the orphanage environment. Peers can be more effective in providing health education than teachers or parents. This activity aims to form and develop PANSIHHAT Ambassadors who come from the orphanage's children as cadres who provide education to their friends in the orphanage. The implementation stage of the activity included the socialization of activities to the service targets, namely the Al Hidayah Orphanage, the formation and debriefing of PANSIHHAT Ambassadors, implementation and assistance of the Peer Education, and evaluating the effectiveness of the application of the method. CHLB education was attended by 26 children, of which 85% were boys and 15% were girls, most (77%) were in their early teens, and a small portion (15% and 8%) were in the category of early adult and child, respectively. Based on a questionnaire before and after applying the Peer Education method, it was found that there was an increase in children's knowledge and behaviour related to CHLB. However, there was no change in children's attitudes regarding CHLB in the orphanage environment. Orphanage management must continue mentoring and regularly evaluating the PANSIHHAT Ambassador program to maximize children's hygiene and health conditions.

This study aims to determine the effect of finger grip therapy on patient anxiety before cardiac catheterization. Methods: This research was conducted at the integrated heart center Dr. M. Djamil Padang from July 2020 - January 2021. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a pretest posttest with control group design which was conducted on 18 respondents in the control group and 18 respondents in the intervention group using simple random sampling technique and using the questionnaire research instrument State Trait Anxiety. Inventory (STAI). This study used univariate analysis and bivariate analysis. Results: The results of this study indicate a Z value of -4,853 and a Sig or P value of 0,000 <0.05, so there is a significant difference between the intervention group and the control group. Conclusion: Finger hand-held therapy is better than deep breathing techniques when dealing with anxiety in patients before cardiac catheterization at Dr. M. Djamil Padang.
