Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of zakat disclosure, especially on the application of corporate social responsibility (CSR) which is the contribution of Islamic banking to its financial performance, namely return on assets and return on equity. This study focuses on 8 Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia from 2011 to 2020. The sample was selected based on the transparency regarding zakat disclosure in their annual report. The method in this study uses a panel data approach. The results show that the contribution of zakat disclosure as corporate social responsibility has a positive and significant effect on both models of Islamic bank financial performance in Indonesia. This shows that CSR through zakat can support the stakeholder theory where Islamic banks that focus on social obligations will improve their financial performance. This study provides a theoretical contribution by explaining disclosure of zakat is an obligation for Islamic banks, and provides important empirical evidence for policy implications. Thus, Islamic bank management may find the importance of CSR in zakat disclosure through reports on sources of funds and distribution of zakat funds in their financial statements for the benefit of stakeholders.

Abstract

crises and inefficiency, particularly in the banking sector. As a result, policymakers need information comparing the efficiency of different types of banks so they can develop appropriate regulations. The purpose of this research is to measure and compare the intertemporal efficiency of Islamic and conventional banks in Indonesia using Data Envelopment Analysis and DEA window analysis. This study examines the stability and efficiency of the Indonesian Banking industry from 2015 to 2020, along with the years 2019 and 2020, which highlight the Covid-19 pandemic era. The results revealed that Islamic banking received a score of 0.66, higher than conventional banking's score of 0.59. However, both exhibit a similar pattern in which the average level of efficiency decreases during the Covid-19 pandemic. From the perspective of efficiency stability analysis through various summary statistics such as standard deviation (SD), Long Distance per Window (LDW), Long Distance per Period (LDP), and Long Distance per Year (LDY), BRI, BRI Syariah, and BTN have the most relatively stable efficiency values among Indonesian banks. This study found that from 2015 to 2020, BRI is the most stable and efficient bank in Indonesia. This study suggests that Indonesia's conventional and Islamic banking systems must maximize their available resources and advance their technological capabilities to increase productivity in special circumstances like the current Covid-19 pandemic.

The technique employed is sentiment analysis of secondary data consisting of 330 tweets. The results showed that positive sentiment was the highest result with a percentage of 53%, followed by neutral sentiment at 32.1%, and negative sentiment at 14.8%. The good (positive) sentiment is the opinion of Twitter users who tweet about cash waqf topics by being positive and tend to be optimistic in responding to the existence of cash waqf and supporting the development of cash waqf. While the negative sentiment is the opinion of Twitter users who tend to express criticism in reviewing developments related to cash waqf. According to the findings, the majority of individuals are more pleased about the existence of cash waqf. As a result, increasing the number of scientific literature publications in indexed journals of cash waqf is necessary to maintain this favorable view.

Abstract

Monetary policy has an important role in a country's economy. The central bank plays a role in carrying out monetary policy for price stability through various mechanisms. This study aims to determine the contribution of conventional and Islamic monetary instruments to economic growth in Indonesia. This study uses time series data from January 2013 to December 2020 and is analyzed using the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) method. From the results of the analysis that has been carried out, it can be seen that in the long run, interest rates, exchange rates, the Islamic Interbank Money Market (PUAS), and Bank Indonesia Sharia Certificates (SBIS) have a significant effect on economic growth. IRF results show that exchange rates react negatively to shocks from GDP over 48 periods. The FEVD results show that the interbank money market (PUAB) has the most significant contribution after GDP in explaining the 10 percent variability of economic growth.

Abstract

One of the main objectives of waqf, which is called Tasbil al-Thamarat, is to make waqf assets useful and productive. Waqf properties must be developed using instruments that can provide good benefits for waqf. Profits from waqf assets must be used for the benefit of the welfare of Muslims. Waqf infrastructure is considered as the most effective way to ensure the expansion of waqf while at the same time providing distribution services to the general public. This bibliometric study maps research related to the development of Waqf and Infrastructure research trends published by leading journals from 2001 to 2021 which have been indexed by Scopus. Analysis is focused on trending keywords, authors and institutions. The data analyzed were 118 research publications. This study provides information for researchers who focus on research in the field of Islamic Philanthropy, especially waqf infrastructure instruments. In the end, this theme has the potential to continue to be developed.
