Abstract

From 1962 to 1967 Hoogerwerf described 16 new taxa of birds fromJava and its satellite islands. His description of each new taxon was based on 3 to 34 specimens. Despite the regulations of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN), which clearly stipulated to designate the type specimens, Hoogerwerf had designated two and in one case three “type” specimens for each of the 14 out of his 16 new taxa, instead. In order to preserve stability of nomenclature, we reevaluate and designate the paratypes, lectotypes, paralectotypes of these Hoogerwerf’s new taxa. These type specimens are deposited in the collections of MZB.Key words: Aves, type specimen, ICZN, Java, MZB

Abstract

Abstract

SRI PARYANTI WALUYO & DARJONO. 1986. Consumption and egg production of Kedu Fowl.Berita Bioiogi 3(4): 181 - 184. Four females and three males of Kedu Fowl has been subjected to an observation on egg production and consumption. The fowl was reared in individual cage for 68 days during the laying period. The observation revealed that the female consumed feed and water on an average of 94.645 gr and 254.45 ml a day respectively while the male was on an average of 105.96 gr and 294.91 ml a day.The manuvre production by the female fowl was recorded 85.81 gr per day. During the period of observation the average egg lay.ed by the female fowl was 34 eggs.In this period, the average weigt body gain on the female was 233.33 gr and on the male 41.66 gr respectively. In respect to the efficiency or raising Kedu fowl, feed and water in take.bodygain and egg production are considered important. These parameters are suggested to be applied as a basic selection of Kedu in a cage.

Abstract

DARJONO & DEWI MALIA PRAWIRADILAGA 1987. Effect of level of Phaseolus lunatus seeds in the native chicken ration on feed consumption, and body weight gain Suppl. Berita Biologi 3 :61 -65. The experiment was aimed to obtain a basic guide of the amount of P., lunatus in chicken ration during growing period. Observation using 25 cockerels and 25 pullers, was based on Completely Randomized Design. The treatment consisted of level of P. lunatus in the ration, namely RK (as control ration), RI, RII, RIII, and RIV, containing 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% respectively. Data was analyzed using Analysis of Variant, and the difference was tested by Honestly Significant Different Test. The results showed that the level of P. lunatus up to 20% had no significant effect (P > 0,05), on feed consumption and body weight gain during growing period. The highest feed efficiency for the cockerels was RI (0,0593) followed by RK (0,0559), RIII (0,0506), RIV (0,0478), and RII (0,0350) respectively; whereas for the pullets was RII (0,0267) followed by RK (0,0262), RI (0,0225), RIII (0,0220), and RIV (0,0102) respectively.
