Abstract

Introduction: The increasing need for palliative care (PC) in the intensive care unit (ICU) is characterised by an increasing number of patients with critical and terminals conditions. It requires comprehensive treatment of nurses, through PC. Self-efficacy is a major predictor that affects the application of PC in ICU. Therefore, nurses need to have high self-efficacy to provide quality PC for patients and their families. This study aimed to analyse the factors that dominant relates to nurses' self-efficacy in implementing of providing PC in ICU.Methods: This research was correlational research with cross-sectional survey design. The sampling technique used was total sampling, which involved 127 critical nurses who were actively working at a general hospital in Bandung, Indonesia. Data were collected using questionnaires. Bivariate analysis using Pearson correlation and Rank-Spearman test and multivariate analysis using linear regression.Results: The results showed that the majority of respondents had high self-efficacy, working experience >15 years, enough interest to the nursing profession had less knowledge and negative perception related to the PC in ICU. There was a significant relationship between self-efficacy with work experience, nurses' interest in the nursing profession, knowledge and perception variables. The most dominant factors related to self-efficacy, namely knowledge and perceptions of nurses related to PC.Conclusion: This study indicates that majority of the respondents lacked knowledge and had negative perceptions related to PC in ICU, it is necessary to socialise and training related to it by focusing on self-belief or self-efficacy of nurses on their ability.

Abstract

Background: The increasing need for palliative care in intensive care unit (ICU) is indicated by the increasing number of patients with critical and terminal conditions or life-threatening diseases. A comprehensive handling through palliative care by nurses is needed. Self-efficacy is the main predictor that influences the application of palliative care in ICU. Therefore, nurses should have high self-efficacy in order to provide qualified palliative care for patients and their families. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between perceptions and self-efficacy of nurses in applying palliative care in ICU. Methods: This study was a correlational study with a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used was total sampling, which involved all nurses who were actively working at the Bandung General Hospital during the study. There were 127 people in total. Data were collected using questionnaires. Descriptive analysis was used for the univariate analysis and Pearson correlation test was used for bivariate analysis. Results: The results of univariate analysis showed that the majority of respondents had high self-efficacy (56.7%) and negative perceptions (52%) related to palliative care in the intensive room. Based on the results of bivariate analysis, there was a significant relationship between perception and self-efficacy variables (p value = 0.000). Conclusion: The results showed that high number of respondents had negative perceptions related to their competences in implementing palliative care in the ICU. Therefore, socializations and trainings related to this are needed, which focus on nurses' beliefs in their abilities.

Abstract

Latar Belakang : Penularan COVID 19 yang tidak terkendali dengan baik akan menjadi ancaman nyata kesehatan, keselamatan dan keberlangsungan perekonomian masyarakat. Masih belum maksimalnya kesadaran kolektif masyarakat untuk melaksanakan prorokol kesehatan dan minimnya alat prookol kesehatan seperti masker yang sesuai stadar menjadi salah satu penyebab utama masifnya penularan COVID 19 di berbagai klaster. Tujuan kegiatan ini untuk meningkatkan partisipasi seluruh elemen masyarakat dalam melaksanakan prorokol kesehatan COVID 19 berupa menggunakan masker dengan tepat dan sesuai standar nasional. Metode : Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan di beberapa lokasi di dalam kota Kabupaten Ende provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur. Metode kegiatan pegabdian masyarakat dilakukan dengan beberapa tahap yakni merencanakan kegiatan, melakukan observasi dan analisis situasi, mengidentifikasi dan menetapkan masalah, melakukan koordinasi, merencanakan, menetapkan kegiatan, melaksanakan kegiatan dan melakukan evaluasi kegiatan. Hasil: Program Studi Keperawatan Ende Politeknik Kesehatan Kemenkes Kupang melakukan edukasi dan membagikan 1000 buah masker gratis kepada masyarakat sebagai bentuk dukungan terhadap program nasional pengendalian penyebaran kasus COVID 19. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat tersebut dilaksanakan pada Rabu 02 September tahun 2020 yang dilakukan dipusat aktivitas masyarakat Kota Ende seperti pangkalan ojek, jalan dan pasar yang dilakukan oleh tim pengabdian untuk memudahkan pembagian masker kepada masyarakat

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Periode lansia merupakan periode kehidupan yang perlu mendapat perhatian terutama karena periode ini rentan terhadap penyakit degeneratif dan kualitas hidup semakin menurun. Penurunan kualitas hidup ditandai dengan lansia yang tidak dapat melakukan sendiri aktivitas rutin seperti: mandi atau memakai pakaian, tidak dapat melakukan sosialisasi dengan masyarakat lainnya seperti kegiatan keagamaan atau kegiatan sosial lainnya. Hal ini menyebabkan peningkatan ketergantungan lansia. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan pemberdayaan kader posyandu dalam memotivasi lansia untuk memanfaatkan posyandu lansia yang ada. Metode : Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 10 orang kader posyandu lansia dan 33 orang lansia yang ada di Wilayah Lingkungan Hawu I, Kelurahan Tetandara, Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Rukun Lima, Kecamatan Ende Selatan, Kabupaten Ende. Kegiatan dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan metode pendampingan kader, skrining kesehatan dan pemberian makanan tambahan bagi lansia. Hasil : Kontribusi mendasar dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah peningkatan kualitas hidup lansia melalui revitalisasi Posyandu lansia, melalui pelatihan bagi kader Posyandu lansia dalam memotivasi lansia untuk memanfaatkan pelaksanaan posyandu dan pelatihan terkait pelaksanaan posyandu, melakukan skrining kesehatan bagi lansia, dan pemberian makanan tambahan kepada lansia.

Abstract

Background: Short stature in toddlers indicates chronic nutritional problems that are influenced by maternal conditions, birth weight, toddler weight, and infant diseases or other problems that indirectly affect health.Purpose: To determine the factors affecting stunting among toddlers in Ende, IndonesiaMethod: Correlational using a cross sectional approach to 155 toddlers. Purposive sampling was used to collect samples from eight sub-districts in Ende Regency. Questionnaires were distributed for data collection. In this study, bivariate analysis used chi-square test, and multivariate analysis used logistic regression.Results: Univariate analysis showed that most of the respondents (mothers of toddlers) had a history of short stature, was not at risk for gestational age, had poor nutrition, had a good level of knowledge about infant food and nutrition, had no history of infection during pregnancy, and always had antenatal care check-ups. Factors under five identified that almost all have a history of infectious diseases, have been sick in the last month, have no history of low birth weight, have complete vaccination, are not premature, and have intrauterine growth, and growth restriction. Environmental factors indicate that some respondents have clean latrines, have a distance to health facilities <1 km, have clean drinking water, and are not pregnant and breastfeeding.Conclusion: Several variables have a significant relationship with stunting in such as exclusive breastfeeding, infectious diseases, drinking water quality, and distance to health facilities. The results of the multivariate analysis showed that the infectious disease variable was the dominant variable causing stunting in Ende Regency.Suggestion: Local health authority to garner cooperation from various regional bureaucracies in Ende Regency to tackle stunting in this area.

Abstract

Objective:  to analyze the effect of knowledge on the readiness of nursing students to perform basic life support in the Ende Nursing Study Diploma III ProgrammeMethods: this research is correlational non-experimental with a cross sectional time approach to determine the effect of nursing students' knowledge and readiness in performing basic life support. The sample in this study were 44 students who met the following criteria: 1) Level III students who were registered as diploma nursing students, 2) Willing to be partisipated in this research. The sample in this study were nursing students level III semester V totaling 44 people. In this research, the sampling technique used  is total sampling. Data analysis using statistical analysis.The results showed that 68% of respondents had good knowledge of BLS and 70% of respondents were ready to do BLS. There is an influence of respondents' knowledge and readiness in doing BLS with p value = 0.03 (95% CI 1.121-10.480). Therefore, it is necessary to conduct further research on the skills of nursing students in carrying out BLS so that they can provide first aid in cases of cardiac arrest outside the hospital and improve survival.Conclusion:  There is a correlation of knowledge with the readiness of nursing students in doing BHD

Abstract

The increasing life expectancy in Indonesia is a sign that the government must be more serious in improving programs related to the elderly, especially the health of the elderly in a comprehensive manner so that the welfare of the elderly is getting better and they can live properly. Family support is needed to maintain the health of the elderly, to improve the quality of life of the elderly. The main health problem experienced by the elderly population worldwide is non-communicable diseases. The targets of this community service activity are posyandu cadres and families who have the elderly. This type of activity is community service in the form of health education related to elderly health problems, providing training to families, filling out the Family Health Monitor board and the "Healthy Elderly, Happy Family" module and conducting home visits to analyze the health of the elderly directly and the risk factors that threaten the health of the elderly. This community service activity was conducted from April 11 to June 26, 2021. This service was conducted in the Rewarangga Health Center Area, East Ende District, Ende Regency, NTT Province. This activity was attended by 10 elderly posyandu cadres and 30 families who have the elderly. There is a need for further community service activities in this area, due to its difficult access and signal location, so the public is rarely exposed to the latest health information. Abstrak: Meningkatnya angka harapan hidup di Indonesia merupakan pertanda bahwa pemerintah harus lebih serius dalam meningkatkan program-program yang berkaitan dengan lanjut usia terutama kesehatan lanjut usia secara komprehensif agar kesejahteraan lanjut usia semakin baik dan dapat hidup dengan layak. Dukungan keluarga sangat diperlukan dalam menjaga kesehatan lansia, guna meningkatkan kualitas hidup lansia. Masalah kesehatan utama yang dialami oleh penduduk lanjut usia di seluruh dunia adalah penyakit tidak menular. Sasaran kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah kader posyandu dan keluarga yang memiliki lansia. Jenis kegiatannya adalah pengabdian masyarakat berupa penyuluhan kesehatan terkait masalah kesehatan lansia, memberikan pelatihan kepada keluarga, mengisi papan Pemantau Kesehatan Keluarga dan modul “Lansia Sehat, Keluarga Bahagia” serta melakukan kunjungan rumah untuk menganalisis kesehatan lansia. lansia secara langsung dan faktor risiko yang mengancam kesehatan lansia. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 11 April s/d 26 Juni 2021. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan di Area Puskesmas Rewarangga, Kecamatan Ende Timur, Kabupaten Ende, Provinsi NTT. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 10 kader posyandu lansia dan 30 keluarga yang memiliki lansia. Kesimpulan: Perlu adanya kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat lebih lanjut di daerah ini, karena lokasinya yang sulit diakses dan sulit sinyal, sehingga masyarakat jarang terpapar informasi kesehatan terkini.

Abstract

Background: Higher life expectancy in Indonesia alarms the government to become more serious in enhancing the implementation of community programs for elderlies. The programs are intended to improve the life quality of the elderlies. Integration of health services for the elderly program that is well-implemented will make it easier for elderlies to Purpose: To determine the relationship between family support and the active participation of elderlies in attending integration of health servicesMethod: This correlational study was performed using a cross-sectional approach on 30 elderlies as respondents who were purposively sampled. Data of this study were collected using questionnaires which were then analyzed in a univariate analysis using frequency data. Bivariate analysis was also carried out using the chi-square test. Results: Most of the respondents actively participated in the program (76.67 percent). They are aware that they are vulnerable to health problems because respondents have good family support (53.33 percent). In particular, they rated good emotional support (66.67 percent), good facility support (73.33 percent), good knowledge and information support (46.67 percent), and good appraisal support (46.67 percent).Conclusion: The data analysis indicated the presence of a correlation between family support and the active participation of elderlies in the integration of health services for the elderly program in Ende Regency.Suggestion: Public Health Center needs to raise awareness of the reluctance of elderlies in attending the integration of health services for the elderly. It is necessary that health workers visit and approach the family of elderlies in order to improve the elderly's health and quality of life.

Abstract

Background: Longer life expectancy in Indonesia is a sign for the government to intensively improve various programs for the elderly for better welfare and quality of life. Elderly Health Service (or Posyandu Lansia)  that is well-conducted will provide convenience for the elderly in accessing basic health services to maintain and optimize their quality of life. Objective: This research aimed to analyze the relationship between beliefs on health and family support toward the participation of the elderly in Posyandu Lansia. Methods: This correlational research was performed using a cross-sectional approach on 30 elderly selected purposively. The Health Belief Model (HBM) was used as a framework in this study. Data were collected using validated questionnaires and analyzed using univariate statistics, Chi-square, and logistic regression. Results: The results indicated the presence of a correlation between health beliefs, especially perceived vulnerability (p = 0.048) and perceived benefits (p = 0.030), and family support in the elderly’s participation in Posyandu Lansia. Conclusion: It is essential for the public health centers to monitor and approach the families of elderlies who rarely attend Posyandu Lansia to improve their health and quality of life.

Abstract

Background: During the COVID-19 pandemic, health workers are directly involved in many healthcare activities. If the pandemic lasts for a long time, the situation of ambiguity and full of threats will be unimaginable. It will potentially worsen individual emotions, increase work stress, and affect the quality of life of health workers. Objective: To identify relationships between work stress levels and quality of life for health workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: A cross-sectional design was used in this study, involving 90 health workers in a public health center in Ende Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia, selected using total sampling. WHOQOL – BREF questionnaire and Stress Scale were used to collect data. Descriptive statistics and Chi-square were used for data analysis. Result: Most respondents did not experience work stress (77.8%) and had a good quality of life (93.3%). There was a significant relationship between work stress and the quality of life of health workers during the COVID-19 pandemic (p <0.001). Conclusion:  Work stress is a significant factor influencing the quality of life. Therefore, interventions to reduce the stress level of the health workers are necessary.
