Abstract

To develop the ability to remember English vocabulary, this community service activity aims to educate and introduce English vocabulary with the drilling method. The method for doing community service is through demonstrations. The drilling or repetition method is used to teach English vocabulary during the implementation of this activity. Several steps must be taken, including scheduling foreign language vocabulary, especially for English, presenting English vocabulary materials, using English vocabulary in context, inviting students to interpret or define each new word taught, repeating English vocabulary materials, and providing tests to measure how well students learn English vocabulary using drilling methods. Students need to love learning so that they can gain vocabulary quickly and be motivated to maintain English. To make effective use of it, students must also be able to manage their time by using various drilling methods, which will keep them engaged and excited in learning their English. The educator's task in this situation is to select and implement an English vocabulary teaching strategy suitable for junior high school.

Abstract

Errors in pronouncing English vocabulary are a very common problem experienced by students. What causes the low ability of students' English vocabulary pronunciation is the influence of previous educational stages which do not force students to practice pronouncing English vocabulary, are not used to it, and lack confidence. The purpose of holding this service is to motivate students to develop their English vocabulary pronunciation skills so that they are not far behind in the current millennial era. The method applied during this activity process uses repeat after me (repeat after me). The students focused on the sense of hearing while paying attention to the gestures and movements that were practiced simultaneously when reciting vocabulary to clarify the meaning of the English word. The results obtained by this service show that the application of the repeat after me method can help students be more active in practicing English pronunciation vocabulary and first the English teachers who teach there can be motivated to invite students to practice together using the repeat after me method more often.
