Abstract

The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of using the Storytelling Technique for teaching vocabulary to fifth grade students at Primary School, SDN 1 Peukan Pidie, Sigli. An experimental design was used in this study and the data was collected through a test as the instrument. The population of this study was all the fifth grade students at SDN 1 Peukan Pidie, Sigli and two classes were taken as the sample, one as the experimental class and the other as the control. The experimental class was taught using the Storytelling Technique, whilst the control class was taught by memorizing words. A pre-test and a post-test were used to collect the data. The data was then analyzed using statistical processes. The results showed that the mean score of the post-test from the experimental class was significantly higher than that from the control class (77 65). Furthermore, the result of the t-test from the experimental class was higher than that from the control class (10.98 7.45). These results showed that the students taught using the Storytelling Technique achieved better scores than those taught by using the Memorizing Words Technique.

Abstract

Speaking is an activity that has speaker, listener and also topic, problem and story. Animation Video is a film created by using a picture motion. Many of students interest with the video or film to disappear boring in studying. This study is aim to find that if the application of Animation Video will give better result on students’ speaking skill. The population are all of students of SMP N I Muara Tiga that consist of 208 students. The writer took two classes as the sample. There were class IIa as an Experimental class and class IIb as a Control class which each of class consists of 18 students and total sample of the students were 36. To obtain the data, the writer gave pre-test and post-test as the instrument. The result showed that the significant different between the students’ score in experimental class and control class. It could be seen from the result of mean of different for each of class in which the mean of difference score in experimental class was 26,38 while the mean of difference score in control class was 11,38. It showed the mean of difference score in experimental class was higher than the control class (26,38 > 11,38). It also could be seen from the result of the t-test score. The result of t-test score in the experimental class was 11,63 while the result of t-test score in control class was 3,44. It showed the t-test score on the experimental class was higher than control class (11,63 > 3,44). Meanwhile, the result of t-table with the level of significance with Df (ɑ) 5% (0,05) was 2,03. It indicated that the t-test score (to) of both of the experimental class and control class was higher than t-table (tt). there are : (11,63 > 2,09) and (3,44 > 2,09). Because of to higher than tt, it concluded that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. Key words : Speaking, Animation Video

Abstract

This study was intended to obtain the information on the teachers’ understanding of Communicative Approach principles and the way of the teachers’ implementation of the principles in teaching English. The subjects of this study were eighteen English teachers at four Junior High Schools in Sigli, Aceh. The data were collected from multiple sources such as observation, questionnaires and documents. Table of frequency and percentage were used to analyze the data that had been grouped and classified based on the research problems. Finding shows that most of English teachers (88,8%) have understood about Communicative Approach principles. They got the information about the principles from The 1994 Curriculum, related books, in-service training and from the articles of education. And most of them (77.7 % ) also implemented Communicative Approach principles in teaching English at Junior High Schools in Sigli through some activities such as games, describe and draw, role play, questions and answers, simple dialogues and problem solving. Fourteen of respondents (77.7%) agree that Communicative Approach is still suitable to use in teaching English even though curriculum is changed. Because this teaching method can develop four language skills and language components such as vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar as suggested. It was not only appropriate to the 1994 Curriculum and the 2004 Curriculum but also appropriate to the 2013 Indonesian National Curriculum. All of the respondents used textbooks that provided communicative tasks in presenting the material of teaching. Most of the respondents helped and appreciated the students in any way in learning to produce good utterances.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the revitalization program for Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran Teacher's Deliberation of Course of Study (MGMP) as a medium to improve English teacher competency. The objectives of this study are (1) Analyzing the reaction of each participant to the English Subject Teacher Consultation activity in Pidie District. (2) Explain knowledge and skills regarding the theoretical and philosophical foundations of English subjects after participating in the English Subject Teacher Consultation activities in the Pidie District. (3) Analyze the motivation of each participant in the English Subject Teacher Meeting to transfer knowledge and skills into the English learning process. (4) Analyzing the impact of the activities of the English Subject Teachers Conference on the development of English teacher competencies in Pidie District. The research method applied in this study is evaluative research based on (Arikunto 2007: 222) evaluative research can be interpreted as a process carried out in order to determine policy by first considering the positive values and benefits of a program, as well as considering the processes and techniques that have been used to do a research. The results showed that each participant's positive reaction to the implementation of the program could significantly influence the increase in knowledge and skills for each participant / program participant in relation to the philosophical and theoretical basis of learning English in secondary schools. However, increasing knowledge and skills did not always have an impact significant at the practical level, namely the quality of the learning process carried out by teachers, participants in the MGMP revitalization program, in the classroom. Teachers still tend to use conventional patterns in the process of learning English. . In general, the implementation of the MGMP revitalization program has been able to improve the participants' knowledge and skills discourse on the philosophical and theoretical foundations of English learning. The obstacle that arises then is the lack of motivation of some participants to apply knowledge and skills in the context of their performance. The lack of motivation to apply this knowledge and skills has resulted in learning practices that have not changed much. This shows that the forum has not been able to effectively and optimally carry out its role and function as a means for the development and development of teaching professionalism.

Abstract

This research is entitled “The Use of Make a Match Technique in Teaching How to Commicate about Greeting in Student Class X MIA 3 SMA Negeri 1 Sigli in the Academic Year 2021/2022.” The expected goal is to improve English speaking skills in greeting. The problem behind this research is the lack of student interest in learning to speak. To overcome this, it takes effort and creativity of teachers. The use of card media with several forms of greeting is one of the efforts to solve this problem. The data analysis technique used descriptive analysis. The results showed that 75% achieved complete learning and as many as 89.7% of students actively participated in learning. With the use of the card media, it can improve the results of learning English in the speaking skills aspect of class X MIA 3 students of SMA Negeri 1 Sigli. In addition, the use of card media can increase student motivation and activity in the learning process so that learning outcomes also increase.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out the effect of using animation videos through sentence completion in teaching listening. The method used in this study was an experimental approach in the form of one group pre test- post test design. The study was conducted at SMPN 1 Bandar Baru with a number of samples were 44 students randomly selected. To obtained the data, the researcher gave the test. the result of pre test was 470, and post test was 650, the mean score (  was 8,18. Furthermore in experimental class, the result of pre test was 680 and post test was 1670, the mean score ( was 45. The result both of the classes was 6,56. Furthermore, significant level α= 0,05, degrees of freedom (d.f)=(  = (42 to obtained by interpolation . It was obtained . In other words, it indicates that the students who were taught using animation videos through sentence completion achieved better result in listening than the students who were taught using non animation videos. Finally, it can be inferred that the use of animation videos through sentence completion in teaching listening can improve students’ listening ability in SMPN 1 Bandar Baru.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana efektivitas implimentasi program revitalisasi Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP) sebagai media meningkatkan kompetensi guru bahasa inggris. Penelitian ini dimaksud untuk mendapatkan gambaran tentang efektifitas Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran dalam meningkatkan kompetensi guru bahasa Inggris. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu (1)Menganalisis reaksi setiap peserta terhadap kegiatan Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran bahasa Inggris di Kabupaten Pidie. (2) Mendeskripsikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan mengenai landasan teoritis dan filosofis mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris setelah berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran Bahasa Inggris di Kabupaten Pidie. (3) Menganalisis motivasi setiap peserta kegiatan Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran bahasa Inggris untuk mentransfer pengetahuan dan keterampilan ke dalam proses pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. (4) Menganalisis dampak kegiatan Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran bahasa Inggris terhadap pengembangan kompetensi guru bahasa Inggris di Kabupaten Pidie. Lokasi penelitian ini dilakukan di kabupaten Pidie Provinsi Aceh. Proses penelitian mengikuti langkah-langkah model evaluasi Kirkparick yang meliputi beberapa langkah yaitu reaction, learning, behavior dan results. Langkah pada tahap reaction dilakukan untuk mengetahui kesan atau reaksi setiap peserta apakah peserta merasa senang dan tertarik terhadap implementasi program revitalisasi (MGMP) bahasa Inggris yang dilaksanakan itu. Langkah pada tahap learning dilakukan untuk mengetahui sejauhmana pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang dikuasai oleh setiap peserta selama berpartisipasi dalam program tersebut. Sedangkan tahap berikutnya adalah behavior dilakukan untuk mengetahui apakah setiap peserta program revitalisasi MGMP itu telah mengubah perilaku kinerjanya dengan mengaplikasikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang telah dipelajari selama berpartisipasi dalam program itu. Terkahir, fokus evaluasi pada tahap results adalah untuk mengetahui dampak program revitalisai MGMP bahasa Inggris terhadap profesionalisme guru yang ditunjukkan dalam bentuk perbaikan kualitas pembelajaran yang lebih baik. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 30 orang guru bahasa Inggris yang secara aktif telah berpartisipasi dalam program tersebut. Data dikumpulkan melalui teknik kuisioner, wawancara, dan observasi. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menganalisis reaksi setiap peserta terhadap kegiatan Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran bahasa Inggris di Kabupaten Pidie, mendeskripsikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan mengenai landasan teoritis dan filosofis mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris setelah berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran Bahasa Inggris di kabupaten pidie, menganalisis motivasi setiap peserta kegiatan Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran bahasa Inggris untuk mentransfer pengetahuan dan keterampilan ke dalam proses pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. menganalisis dampak kegiatan Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran bahasa Inggris terhadap pengembangan kompetensi guru bahasa Inggris di Kabupaten Pidie sehingga penelitian nantinya akan dapat bermanfaat bagi guru bahasa Inggris yang tergabung dalam Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP) di Kabupaten Pidie dapat meningkatkan kompetensi guru, mengetahui permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran Bahasa Inggris di Kabupaten Pidie dan alternatif program yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut. Selanjutnya agar dapat meningkatkan kompetensi guru bahasa Inggris dengan diketahuinya sumber permasalahan utama yang dihadapi guru yang meliputi kompetensi pedagogi dan kompetensi profesionalisme guru. Abstract

The purpose of the study was to find out whether the use of the students who are taught English by using the Students Team Achievement Division and those who are taught English by using other methods is increasing reading skills. The writer used Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) to teach the students. The Design of the research was quantitative research. The instrument used Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) to collect data in this research was a set of tests, which consisted of test that are Pre-test and Post-test. A pre-test was given before the writer treated the students by using techniques, in order to find out the student’s ability in mastering reading skills. Post-test was given after the writer did experimental teaching six times. It was aimed to find out the improvement of the student’s ability in mastering speaking after teaching students with used classroom debate techniques. The result of the data analysis revealed that the experimental class had a total score of 832, whereas the control class had a total score of 173,377. The experimental class had a mean score of 20,133, while the control class had a mean score of 16,76. It was discovered that the experimental class's mean difference score was greater than the control class's (20,133-16,76). The outcome was, on the other hand, 0.99. Because of that, higher than (20,33 16,76). It means, was accepted. And the conclusion indicated that the ability of the students in mastering reading had increased after the writer Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) technique.

Abstract

Keindahan alam Desa wisata Sebubus memiliki berbagai daya Tarik wisata pantai, hutan mangrove, dan juga terdapat satwa langka seperti bekantan dan penyu. Desa ini merupakan salah satu desa yang terdapat di kabupaten Sambas Kalimantan barat yang memiliki letak sangat strategis yaitu berada di posisi ekor pulau Kalimantan yang berdekatan dengan wilayah perbatasan Indonesia-Malaysia timur. Dengan beragamnya daya tarik wisata yang ada, namun masyarakat setempat kurang memanfaatkan daya tarik wisata sebagai suatu usaha paket wisata yang dikarenakan oleh kurangnya kemampuan untuk menyusun paket wisata, terutama paket wisata ready made tour. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut dilakukan pendampingan maupun pelatihan kepada mitra yaitu kelompok sadar wisata sebubus yang dilaksanakan pada bulan September 2022. Tujuan dari pengabdian yang dilakukan adalah untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan kepada mitra dalam memanfaatkan daya tarik wisata dan menyusun paket wisata. Pelaksanaan pendampingan dan pelatihan dilakukan dengan beberapa tahapan yaitu: tahap persiapan, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi. Metode yang digunakan yaitu: ceramah, tutorial/demonstrasi, latihan dan praktik. Tingkat pemahaman dan keterampilan mitra yang dilibatkan sebanyak 20 orang mengalami peningkatan sebesar 75%, yang diukur melalui tes awal dan tes akhir (pretest 10% dan posttest 85%). Dengan demikian usaha paket wisata readymade tour dapat dilaksanakan di desa wisata Sebubus.  The natural beauty of Sebubus village offers various tourist attractions, beaches, mangrove forests, and endangered animals such as probosci's monkeys and sea turtles. Sebubus village is a tourist village in Paloh district, Sambas regency, West Kalimantan. The Sebubus tourism village is strategically located not far from the eastern Indonesia-Malaysia border region. However, the local community does not take advantage of tourist attractions as businesses, especially managing ready-made tour packages. They lack the skill to plan tour packages. To overcome these problems, mentoring and training were carried out to provide knowledge in promoting tourist attractions. The mentoring and training were carried out in several stages: preparation, implementation and evaluation. The methods used were lectures, tutorials/demonstrations, and practices. The pre-test measured the understanding and the success of mentoring and training. Post-test assessments were conducted on 20 participants (members of Pokdarwis of Sebubus village), held on September 2022. It shows that the participants' understanding increased by 75%, originally 10% to 85%. Therefore, the ready-made tour package business can be fruitful in Sebubus Tourism Village.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) for Becoming a Professional Teacher. The purpose of this study was to examine and analyze the effect of self-efficacy and motivation on TPACK to become professional teachers. This research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The sampling technique used purposive sampling of 100 teachers. The instruments used were observation, questionnaires and questionnaires. The data analysis technique used is the classical assumption, correlation analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis including hypothesis testing T test, F test and R2 test. The results of this study indicate: 1) Self-efficacy has a positive and significant effect on Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK), 2) Motivation has a positive and significant effect on Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK), and 3) Self- efficacy and motivation have a positive effect and significant to Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK). The findings of this study indicate the importance of self-efficacy and motivation in improving Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) to become professional teachers.
