Abstract

Local literature has an important role in globalizing the value and local wisdom of a community. The goal is to preserve and spread benefits for human life. Madurese literature is one of the types of local literature that has developed. The development of Madurese literature that combines religious and social-social elements cannot be separated from the existence of Pesantren. This study aimed to examine the meaning, values, and local wisdom in Madurese literature based on the philosophy of objectivism. Hermeneutics was used to analyze fragments of M. Faizi's poems to find their meaning and value. This study showed that the human value that described the local wisdom of the Madurese in M. Faizi’s poem was a reality. This finding was also supported by a number of studies on Madurese indigenous people. Thus, in addition to having a figurative language, M. Faizi's poems also contained contextual meanings, and this characterized an element of objectivism in his poems.

Abstract

Intellectuality and Artistic Aspect of Author in the Concept of Spinoza's Rationalism(Expressive-Typography on Indonesian New-Age Poem). Typography is a rarecourse in the study of literature. Sometimes, it is neglected. In this study, webelieved that all parts of literary work contained valuable marks that could benefithumans and the development of literary studies. Most studies commonly focusedon how an author used figurative language in his work, not typography. In thisstudy, we investigated and observed in nature intellectuality and aestheticpreference of Wiji Thukul in the construction of expressive poems on his own. Weused Spinoza's rationalism as an approach for this purpose. In our analysis, wefound that being a member of the democratic party contributed to thedevelopment of Wiji Thukul's intellectuality so that he could become more literateabout social reality, while the experience of being a poet, in any event, hadcontributed to his competence and aesthetic preference. In this essence, webelieved that substance, value, and ideology are the most prominent in the currentliterary work's content, as well as in its form. Keywords: Literary studies, intellectuality, Aesthetic, Spinoza, typography

This research probes into the use of figurative language, particularly expressions and metaphors, within sports reporting's context. The study’s focal point was the June 1, 2018 edition of the esteemed Indonesian newspaper, Java Pos, renowned for its vibrant sports reporting, particularly in football. Data consisted of expressions and metaphors in the form of verbs, nouns, adjectives, and numerals, sourced from Java Pos' sports reporting (June 1, 2018 edition), especially relating to football. The methodology involved participatory observation reading 7 football-specific sports pieces and scrutinizing each for expressions and metaphors. Additionally, documentation was employed collecting and analyzing articles from the designated edition to assess metaphors and expressions through a figurative language lens. Post data collection, data was condensed and classified by category (nouns, verbs, adjectives, and numerals) then verified and interpreted contextually. Content analysis was applied for data analysis, comprehending the contextual use and its impact on reader comprehension. The findings unveiled the presence of expressions and metaphors, encompassing verb phrases, nouns, adjectives, and numerals, in the news reports.
