Abstract

Abstract: This research aimed to describe the method and procedure of the language style translation in Mori Ogai‟s short story titled “Utakata No Ki”. This short story has been translated by Bambang Wibawarta entitled “Catatan Buih di Atas Kertas” at 2003. The method used in this reseach is qualitative descriptive and used theory of Newmark (1988) and Gorys Keraf (1980). The method of data collection used is technical notes. The result of this research are 40 data style of language, containing simile 8 data, simile and personification 1 data, the metaphor 2 data, the personification 5 data, the eponymous 2 data, the eponymous and cynicism 1 data, sinekdoke 1 data, antonomasia 1 data, irony 2 Data, cynicism 4 Data, sarcasm 6 data, and satire 3 data. The style of language translation used various translation methods, wich are communication, faithful, free, adaptation, and semantics. The procedures used are component analysis, shift or transposition, reduction, expansion, cultural equivalence, modulation, synonyms. Then, the result of research showed that the translator uses the closest equivalent in target language. The aim is make the message from the authors delivered well by the translator. Although there is a shift in meaning or form, but can be the shift is made to produce acceptable translations according to the readers.Keywords: Translation, style of language, Utakata No Ki

Abstract

Abstract : This study explains about the purpose of request phrase te kure by women in Japanese language conversation dialogue. The aims of this study are to analyze what are the social factors and social dimensions influence the use of te kure request used by women. This research’s data are dialogues of Japanese language conversation using the expression of te kure request contained from two dramas entitled Majisuka Gakuen season 2 and Majisuka Gakuen season 3. The theory used in the analysis are theory of request phrase te kure from Isao Iori (2001) and social factor theory and social dimension from Janet Holmes (2001), they are applied to analysis with qualitative descriptive approach. The result of this study indicated that from the four components of social factors, the most influentian factor in the use of request phrase te kure based on the research analysis is participants, whereas the four components of social dimensions that sufficiently affect the use of te kure request is status scale. Both of these factors will equip each other to establish the use of request phrase te kure by women.Key Words: irai, ~te kure, social factors, social dimensions

Abstract

Abstract: The background of this study was firstly emerged from the data found by the researcher that the student’s ability in writing Japanese essays (Sakubun) was still lack. The lack of ability in writing Japanese essays (Sakubun) influences the student’s Japanese language mastery level. The aim of this study is to find out the difference of student’s ability in writing Japanese essays (Sakubun) after implementing Mind Mapping method. The research method of this study was quasi experiment with one group before after or pretest and post-test group design. The sample technique used was total random sampling. The study was done by conducting pretest to know the student’s prior ability, then giving treatments in the experiment class, and the last giving post-test to know the student’s ability. Based on the data analysis, the result was sig 14,36 > 5,04. It means that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that Mind Mapping method is effective in learning of Japanese essays (Sakubun) on the third-level students of Japanese Education Department Faculty of Teacher’s Training and Education Riau University.Keywords: Sakubun, writing skill, Mind Mapping Method

Abstract

This paper investigates the Japanese sentence-final particles „yo‟ as they occur in conversation and the equivalent of „yo‟ in Indonesian using by Japanese Education students of Riau University. By using theory of sentence final particles presented byMasuoka (1992). This research is a qualitative descriptive research with translation of sentence-final particles „yo‟from imperative, information and invitation sentences as main data. The result of this research are as follows: first, most of students can not distinguish the function of sentence final particle „yo‟ in imperative, information and invitation sentences. Second, the needs of learning improvement in senteces final particle esprecially in grammar and conversation lectures to teach the differences of senteces final particle functions.

Abstract

Abstract: There are many types of motion verbs in Japanese and Indonesian, but this research focus on iku and kuru with its equivalent in Indonesian. In this research explains the meaning of motion verbs iku and kuru using the typology study with the aims to find out the similarities and differences in Japanese and Indonesian. In addition, it explains the core components of movement verbs such as „source‟, „goal‟, and „path‟ as well as case grammar in Japanese. The method used in this research is the translational equivalent method, which match the motion verbs iku and kuru equivalent in Indonesian. The results of this research, not all the words iku and kuru can be matched with the words 'pergi' and 'datang', because in Indonesian the words 'pergi' and 'datang‟ are deictic.Key Words : Motion verbs, case grammar, deictics, identifying method

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this research is to discover how the application of method Cooperative Learning type stad by using game twister and college students’ response in kaiwa lesson on II grade college students in Japanese Study Program. This research used qualitative descriptive method and the researcher was merely to explain the data which had been collected. The sample of this research was 29 university students and the research had been done in two meeting. The data collection technique used questionnaire and interview. The application of this method, half of the member of the group was active in this activity. The university students’s response in questionnaire showed 85% of them were felt helpful and easy to understand kaiwa 4 and 75% of respondents was motivated. Moreover, 100% respondents in each became more active in giving opinion and 100% respondents more active in using japanese. In contrast, more than half of respondents got difficulties in using grammar and choosing appropriate vocabulary. Besides, the students’s response according to interview found that most of students became more excited to study by interacting, cooperating, and motivating one another in a group to make their tesks.Key Words : Cooperative learning type stad, game twister, kaiwa, the effective

Abstract

Abctract:. Shuujoshi is a suffix in sentence that used to express a statement or expression of the speaker’s feeling such as feeling of emotion, appeal, prohibition, and so forth. Japanese has many end-of sentence particle, one of them is (suujoshi) sa. Sujoshii sa not only has a different uses in sentences, but also has more than one function. Some end-sentences particles have similar usage, so its always become a question for both Indonesian Japanese learners and Teachers. One of them is the meaning and use of sa. This study aims to find out the equivalent of final particle sentence (shuujoshi) sa in Indonesian which is contained in the comic series title on one piece. This research is a qualitative descriptive research and matching method. The data sources used are shuujoshi contained in the comic series one piece. The analysis used is to classify shuujoshi sa based on its equivalent in Indonesian. From the results of the analysis carried out there are 15 sentences containing shuujoshi sa and according to the theory that explains that shuujoshi sa. Where shuujoshi sa can be matched with particles and not in Indonesian. In the use of utterances between sentences (kantou-joshi) both greetings and greetings are often added. Kantou-joshi's speech is also often replaced by an intonation only (up). These forms can also be replaced with actual adverb, actually because, while the reasonableness means the meaning of the utterance.Key Words: Comic, Shuujoshi Sa, Equivalent Words

Abstract

Abstract: The lack of motivation of students in learning Dokkai is due to monotonous learning methods, lack of mastery of kanji, vocabulary that does not know its meaning and text that is too long. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of skimming techniques on students' ability to read Japanese text comprehension (dokkai) by students from the Japanese Ministry of Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Teacher Education, University of Riau. skimming techniques is a strategy to improve students' reading comprehension skills with stages that will guide students to understand the text to read well. This study used quasi-experimental research with the design of one group pretest-posttest. The object of this study were 28 third grade students from Japanese Teacher Education, Department of Education and Education, University of Riau 2016/2017 Academic Year. Data collection is done by giving a test. The test given is 10 essays to determine students' ability to read comprehension (pretest and posttest). The average pretest results obtained by students were 58.75 and in posttest it increased 26.96 to 85.71. So there is a significant impact by applying skimming techniques to learn Japanese reading comprehension by students from the Japanese Ministry of Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Riau. Thus, it can be concluded that the cursory reading technique is effective for improving the ability to read Japanese text.Key Words: Dokkai, Skimming, The effectiveness.

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this research to know the used of deixis in dokkai text, then describe the results of analysis on the use of the Japanese language demonstrative pronoun ko-so-a, and to find out the meanings and functions in dokkai text. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method that focuses on a problem related to individuals, phenomenal, documents, and social symptoms. The data collection technique that will be carried out in this research is to select the object of this research and then only selected sentences that contain ko-so-a demonstrative pronoun deixis on the dokkai text in JLPT N4 questions. The results showed that in 7 (seven) document texts on JLPT N4 questions selected as research objects there is 4 types of demonstrative pronouns use deixis, there are 3 demonstrative pronouns of object words, 2 demonstrative pronouns words pointing place, 2 demonstrative pronouns of actions, 6 demonstrative anaphoris pronouns. And from 7 dokkai text analysis there are 5 times show of demonstrative dexis ko, 2 time of kore demonstrative pronouns, 1 time demonstrative dexis koko, 2 times of demonstrative pronounced dexis kono. Then 6 times the show of demonstrative dexis so, 3 times the show of demonstrative pronouns deixis soko, and 3 times the appearance of dexis demonstrative pronouns sono.
