Abstract

The purpose of this research was to obtain the formulation of full cream milk and red palm oil in the making of ice cream with the best of value fat content, protein content, overrun, melting point, total solids, and organoleptic test. This research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and four replications. The treatments were K1 (Full cream milk : red palm oil = 100% : 0%), K2 (Full cream milk : red palm oil = 97% : 3%), K3 (Full cream milk : red palm oil = 94% : 6%),K4 (Full cream milk : red palm oil = 91% : 9%). The data obtained were analysed statistically by using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). If the F count was greater than or equal to F table then continued with DNMRT test at 5% levels. The results of this research showed that the formulation of full cream milk and red palm oil in the making of ice cream indicated significant effect (P<0,05) on fat content, protein content, overrun, melting point, total solids, and organoleptic test. The treatment K3 having overrun 19.59%, melting point 12.20 minutes, fat content 17.91%, protein content 2.86%, total solids 28.99%. The ice cream obtained from K3 was also preferred by panelists than other treatments especially for colour and flavour of description test and taste, flavour, and acceptance test of hedonic. Keywords : Full cream milk, red palm oil, and ice cream.

Abstract

The purposes of the study was to obtain the best tempeh from utilization of NaHCO3 in making tempeh with raw material jackfruit seeds and saga seeds using the SNI quality standards. The research was conducted experimentally using completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and four repetitions, followed by DNMRT test at 5% level. The treatment in this study were SS1 (saga seeds soaked in water for 24 hours and soaked in hot water ±60ºC for 10 minutes), SS2 (saga seeds soaked in a solution of NaHCO3 2,5% for 24 hours and soaked in hot water ±60ºC for 10 minutes), SS3 (saga seeds soaked in a solution of NaHCO3 2,5% for 24 hours and soaked in hot solution of NaHCO3 2,5% ±60ºC for 10 minutes) and SS4 (saga seeds soaked in water for 24 hours and soaked in hot solution of NaHCO3 2,5% ±60ºC for 10 minutes). Parameters observed were the moisture, ash, fat, protein and sensory evaluation after and before frying. Results of the analysis of variance showed the soaking time saga seeds with a solution of NaHCO3 2,5% significantly affected all parameters. The results of the study found that the best treatment was SS4 with a value of 61,35% moisture content, 1,12% ash, 5,30% fat, 22,75% protein and an overall assessment of sensory preferred by panelists. Keywords: NaHCO3, tempeh, jackfruit seeds, saga seeds.

Abstract

Biodiesel is an alternative fuel made from vegetable oil or animal fat that can be used as a substitute for diesel fuel. The purpose of the research was to see the effect of methanol addition on biodiesel from used waste cooking oil. The research used a completely randomized design with four treatments which were M1 (methanol 65 ml), M2 (methanol 75 ml), M3 (methanol 85 ml) and M4 (methanol 95 ml) with four replications. The data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and continued with duncan’s new multiple range test (DNMRT) at 5% level. The best treatment was M4 with acid number of 0.42 mg KOH/g, total glycerol content of 0.08%, kinematic viscosity of 26.35 cSt, water content of 0,01%, flash point of 227°C, saponification number of 123.46  mg KOH/g and levels of methyl ester 99.4%.Keywords: Biodiesel, waste coocking oil, methanol, ash catalyst

Abstract

Empty fruit bunch and oil palm leaves are mostly the waste from oil palm plantation as can be used alternative energy resource. The aim of this research was to obtain the right combination of charcoal briquette characteristics of empty fruit bunch and palm oil leaves. The treatment of the combination of empty fruit bunch and oil palm leaves was 70%:30%, 60%:40%, 50%:50%, 40%:60%, 30%:70%. Based on results the best quality briquette a combination of 30%:70% is water content 4.0491%, ash content 21.4423%, density 0.4892 g/cm3, persistence press 0.0204 kg/cm2, evaporated substance rate 30.9430%, carbon rate 43.5655%, heating value 4,541 cal/g, end fuel 0.0030 g/sec. Keywords : charcoal briquette, empty fruit bunch, oil palm leaves

Abstract

Liquid waste containing high levels of pollutants sago, so need to do processing of biological, physical and chemical.This research was to study the symbiotic system of a complex microorganisms contained in B-DECO3 as a decomposer agent, with the addition of photosynthetic microoalgae Chlorella sp as an oxygen producer in reducing organic loads of sago milling effluent. The method used in the experiment with completely randomized design (CRD) comprised of 5 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments were concentration variations of microorganisms B-DECO3 (0, 0.27, 0.55, 0.82 and 1.09 per cent v/v, respectively) with 800 ml/L (6.6 x 106 cell/ml) microalgae Chlorella sp. added up with waste sago milling effluent 1 liters of the liquid. Observations were made on day 0 and day to-7, except for the parameters pH, DO, and an abundance of cells is done every day. Data were analyzed statistically using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5% level. The results showed the role of symbiotic mutualism can reduce levels of pollutants wastewater sago. The best treatment is the addition of bacterial decomposition P4 B-DECO3Chlorella sp 20 ml and 800 ml (abundance of 6.6 x 106 cells / mL). P4 treatment lowers the value of COD 90.29%, 82.74% BOD, TSS 84.52%, 82.85% Nitrate and Phosphate 98.66%, and increasing the pH value of 97.56%, 73.82% DO, and cell abundance 72.44% Chlorella sp.  Keywords: B-DECO3 microorganisms, Microalgae Chlorella sp, liquid waste sago

Abstract

Catfish nuggets is one of the products processed using a cut of catfish relatively small and irregular then be attached to return to the product greater by adding seasoning, filler and materials fastener. This research aims to know the influence of the adding of bamboo shoots betung to quality nugget according SNI-01-6638-2002. Research methods using the complete random design consists of 4 treatments and each treatment was repeated 4 times. Treatment additions bamboo shoots begin from 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30% from 100 grams of heavy materials. The data analyzed by statistic using Anova. Organoleptic analysis with Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) on 5% level. The result showed that the best treatment was the addition of bamboo shoot treatment 30%. The product has a water content of 30,22%, ash content of 1,17%, the protein content of 12,12%, 3,54% fiber content, with color are golden yellow (3,63) and color in grayish white (4,07), aroma slightly scented fish and slightly scented bamboo shoots (2,93), rather tasteless fish and a little taste of bamboo shoots (2,77), texture a bit chewy (2,73) and overall ratings between like to favorite (4,49). Keywords: catfish, betung bamboo shoots, nugget.

Abstract

Rubber seed oil are not currently used optimally, due to the high content of cyanide and free fatty acid. Cyanide can be derived by soaking process, and free fatty acid can be decreased by addition of noni extract.This research aims to study the effect of noni extracton the peroxide value and sensory characteristic of rubber seed oil. Research method used Completely Randomized Design which consists of 4 treatments and each treatment was repeated 4 times. Treatments of noni extract addition were 40%, 45%, 50%, and 55% of the total weight material. Data were statistically analyzed by using Analysis of Variance and continued with Duncan New Multiple Range Test at 5% level.  Results of the analysis showed that the addition of  noni extract was significantly effected on peroxide value, but not significantly effected on smell and colour of rubber seed oil. Based on this research, the best treatment was 45% noni extract addition which had average content of peroxide value 0,27meq/kg. Sensory assessment of rubber seed oil by panelist showed that the oil had a rancid smell and golden yellow colour. Keywords:Rubber seed oil, cyanide, free fatty acid, noni extract.

Abstract

This research was aimed to get the best various additions of Agrobost which symbiotic microalgae Chlorellasp. in accelerating to reduce of pollutants level in palm oil mill effluent using the scale up experimenttechnology.  This research used Completely Randomized Design with 5 treatments and 3 repetition.  This research used microalgae(with abundance ± 6,985,000 cfu/ml) and palm oil mill effluent with 5 treatments of Agrobost (0% v/v, 4% v/v, 8% v/v, 12% v/v and 16% v/v).  The data were obtained from statistical analytic using ANOVA and DNMRT in 5% level.  The results showed that the concentration of Agrobost had significant affects for nitrate and phosphate.  The selected treatment was 16% v/v addition Agrobost with the highest reduction level had nitrate of 3.40 mg.L-1 and phosphate of 8.18 mg.L-1. Keywords:palm oil mill effluent, Agrobost, microalgae Chlorella sp., scale up

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research aims to determine the oil palm liquid waste management system and to obtain palm oil liquid waste management strategy carried out by PT. Inti Indosawit Subur. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative and quantitative research methods. The research implementation consists of data collection, data processing, SWOT analysis (strength weekness opportunity treath) and priority strategy setting. Types of data in this study are primary data obtained by conducting interviews and observations and secondary data obtained from literature studies. The data analysis used is SWOT analysis andpair comparison. The results showed that the palm oil mill effluent treatment at WWTP used a waste pool system (Biological Pound System), totaling 11 ponds. The data result of measuring the parameters of the palm oil mill effluent (POME) obtained from UPT Construction Materials Laboratory Riau show the produced palm oil mill effluent is still above the quality standard stipulated in KepMenLH No.5 of 2014. Quadrant SWOT is in quadrant I with value internal factor position index and external is 1.163 and 0.695. Determination of priority strategies which used the pair comparison method is obtains strategy utilization of palm oil mill effluent into biogas and fertilizer according to the regulations for the development of sustainable palm oil processing is the top priority with a score 0.484.Keywords:   POME, SWOT, Pair Comparison

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the supply chain management of CPO in Kuantan Singingi a stream of goods (goods flow), the flow of money (money flow) and the flow of information (information flow), and knowing factors that affect the smoothness of the CPO supply chain. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. This study uses primary data and secondary data. Primary data is in the form of data obtained from the company, interviews with stakeholders (farmers, the Department of Agriculture, Association of Indonesian oil palm farmers and other parties), who are involved either directly or indirectly in the CPO supply chain in the company, while secondary data is in the form of journals and other documents. The flow of goods in the CPO supply chain consists of suppliers, including independent smallholders and smallholders who sell FFB to collectors. These company nuclei are directly brought to the palm oil mill. Then the factory processes the FFB into CPO and is sent to several companies that process derivative products. The financial flow starts from consumers to farmers in cash and non-cash. The flow of information begins from farmers to consumers who provide information in FFB selling prices and CPO prices. Transportation is one factor affecting the smooth supply chain of CPO in Kuantan Singingi District.
